Only Mods and Admins are allowed to make polls now, because they got far too spammy when regular posters could make them.

Some time ago we noticed that polls had a strong tendency to get spammy, so away they went. Only mods and admins can make polls now, and we'll only do that for really important stuff. Or when we really really want to. Either one.
EDIT: Yeah, what Elmin said. Damn that guy's quick.

To give you an example of really important stuff...or perhaps irony (http://forums.nuklearpower.com/showthread.php?p=276020#post276020).

That thread is meant to be an example of what NOT to do here.
Edit: That's what makes that poll important.

To put it bluntly, you don't. We have enough now.

The first rule is not to ask how to become a mod or admin. The second rule is to read the rules, follow them, and try to make a contribution to the forum. In most cases admins or mods will nominate other members for a mod.
Edit: Also, you can simply create a thread asking for opinions as an alternative to a poll. Just make sure that you clearly state why you're asking for such opinions and that what you're asking about isn't spammy.

While it would seem to be the next logical step on the way to making a poll, that's not quite as easy. Generally, and apart from what shiney and madhatter said, it also involves acknowledging shiney's ius primae noctis. (http://forum.nuklearpower.com/showpost.php?p=217304&postcount=70)

That means he can't make new threads until whatever the duration of the probation has expired...although, I am curious as to how this thread came about...
