Tenjin was sitting in a chair when he suddenly sat up. "...Kojiro! Dammit he's close" Tenjin wandered over to one of the guards in the foyer. "200 credits says I never left" The guard smiles "make it 200 each and you sat here polishing your halo" Tenjin nods "done." He makes the neccessary payments and wanders outside.

Sasaki Kojiro watched as a car pulled up a few streets down from where Virgil was. He readied the Tranqiliser gun and waited, a hand on his old sword just in case Tenjin decided to show up. "But the chances of that happening are rather remote" Kojiro couldn't be more wrong. He watched as someone ran at him with a sword raised yelling loudly. Kojiro nearly threw up with fear "how did he know?!" Kojiro drew his sword as fast as he could and readied himself...

Tenjin made a vertical cut at Kojiro's head. Kojiro only just parried it and staggered backwards a few steps. Tenjin let forth a flurry of blows, Kojiro staggering back once more. Kojiro made a few rather slow strikes that Tenjin parried with ease. Tenjin struck back again with two strikes to the face and two to the body. Two slices hit cleanly leaving Kojiro with a horizontal cut on his face and one in his side. Kojiro staggered back again and winced in pain. Shit how did he get so fast?! Kojiro struck again but missed entirely as Tenjin ran up a wall, backflipped and placed a rather long cut up the length of Kojiro's back. Kojiro screamed in pain as silver and obsidian parted flesh with maliciously elegant ease. Tenjin had landed behind Kojiro. It was time to end this. Tenjin ran Kojiro through twice before drawing his sword back and with one swift motion, separated Kojiro's head from his shoulders. Kojiro's body hit the pavement with a loud thump as Tenjin caught his head. A car pulled up and two strangers hopped out and took both parts of the corpse. With that done Tenjin vanished as quickly as he had appeared.

Stephanie stopped in her tracks and looked around quickly as she heard a scream. After not spotting where it had come from she exhaled deeply.

Stop being so jumpy. Just relax, and get to that building.

Stephanie led the small group back the couple of blocks to the building, staring for a moment at the bottle there on the ground.

Bleh. Tequila... how could anyone drink that stuff..?

She reached out with her foot and tapped the bottle, causing it to tip over onto its side and break a little more around the already shattered edges.

Up to the door she went, grabbing a hold of the knob. She turned it, but it refused to turn more than a centimeter.

"Locked."

She began to wonder if they were at the right place. Then again, how many buildings here would have a broken bottle just standing there openly?

Balling up her fist, she gave a couple of light knocks at the door, hoping this was indeed the right place.

Tenjin wandered back into the embassy wearing his suit and the sports bag in hand. He nodded to the guards and wandered back into the quarters. He looks at Isis "sorry I had urgent "business" to attend to, and by the way where is Gerek?"

Isis looked over at Tenjin from the table with cards and poker chips strewn about it. "He decided to get some fresh air," Isis points toward the window. "Wanna join the game? I'm getting bored beating Latimov...ah, here we go, two pair; jacks and kings." Latimov and another guard let out groans. Isis grinned evilly, "Listen fellas, you can not beat a computer at poker, it is an unwritten rule. Now pay up!"

Stephanie!

Kai was already slumped in a corner, dozing off the tequila he ahd drunk from the bottle. Virgil didn't pay him any heed as he rushed to the door. True enough, it was Stephanie.

"You made it! Great - wait. What happened to your arm?"

He pointed to the makeshift bandage, at the same time motioning for her to come in.

"Where's Ryan and Xypher, by the way?"

She smiled as he opened the door, having to do everything in her power to keep herself from leaping into his arms right then and there.

As she came in, she gave a passing glance to her shoulder. "Oh. That's nothing... it barely even hurts anymore."

She then turned around to point out Ryan and Scott. "Ryan's right behind me. Xypher... we lost track of him after we left the ship. And that man..." She pointed to Scott. ".. he's the one that lent us the comlink. He's not any problem to us, he was just caught in the wrong place at the wrong time."

Explanations aside, and not caring about what the other two men behind her might think, she jumped and wrapped her arms around Virgil. "I'm so glad you're okay.... you have no idea..." She whispered softly.

Well, time to break the ice.

Scott removed his sunglasses and put them into his pocket, revealing his hazel-green eyes. "So you're Virgil. Nice to meet you." Scott offered his hand for a handshake. It took him a while to realize Scott was introducing himself, as he was looking very concerned over Steph's bullet wound. After about 5 seconds, Virgil said "Oh! Er...nice to meet you, Scott." He met Scott's hand with his own, and gave a firm grip.

Owch! This guy can give a mean handshake!

Scott let go, saying "Do you have any weapons on you, Virgil? We were being chased by mechs, and they might have found us..."

"I'm so glad you're okay.... you have no idea..."

Virgil returned the embrace. Hunted or not, he could never resist the feel of a woman in his arms. He squeezed her to him, then noticed Scott behind Stephanie. He removed his glasses and offered Vigil his hand.

"So you're Virgil. Nice to meet you."

Still holding on to Stephanie, he released one arm from around her and squeezed it, a little harder than he ahd intended. Then Scott continued, "Do you have any weapons on you, Virgil? We were being chased by mechs, and they might have found us..."

Instantly Virgil chopped his hand across the air, and made a "ssh" gesture. In a low voice he whispered, "Try not to mention those. She's rather sensitive about them..."

Then, remembering where he was, he slowly disengaged the blond woman from him and nudged her inside, then turned back to Scott.

"I have a small army's worth of weapons here, but get inside first. And drag Ryan in while you're at it."

Saying so, he backed away from the door to let them in.

Letting go of Virgil, she was urged inside of the small building.The place was in a bit of disarray, apparently having not been used in some time.

As she looked around the room, she saw things scattered about, but was most shocked to see a stranger passed out in the corner.

"Gah! Who is that?!" She backed towards Virgil, pointing over to the enebriated Kai. For all she knew, he was just some person that Virgil had knocked out to keep from saying that he was here.

Isis gives Tenjin a toothy grin, I may be mostly organic but, Isis taps her head, "Up here I am all computer baby."

Tenjin took a seat at the table while Isis shuffled the cards. "Ok, 3 card draw, jokers wild, 100 credit ante." Isis dealt the cards.

Gerek moved into the open air of the square and let out a sigh of relief. From the parts of the city he could see, fire crews were working to get the last of the fires caused by the quick fight under control.

People were just beginning to filter into the square once more, apparently they thought the fighting was over for the day. And I hope that they are right. Over to Gerek's left it sounded like a group of people were having a tearful reunion. Gerek curiously glanced in that direction but all he say were a couple of men blocking his view into the house and a smashed vodka bottle on the ground. Ceh, slobs.

"Hey you! Your not supposed to be out of the embassy!" Yelled a Nova Cat guard, presumably one of the people sent out by Minori to search for the contacts.

Eep, time to run!

"That's Kai," Virgil said. "He's the partner of one of my few associates... I mean was. Danae's people came and beat him almost to death before grabbing my pal, Rath. I don't know what's happened to her now, but given that Danae knew I was here... I don't think I want to find out."

He ushered them all in and bade them sit down on the sofa that ahd been hastily cleared of debris from where Piotr and friends ahd shot up the place.

"Now that we're here... I think it's time to explain a little more about the situation we're in. I'll repat myself for the benefit of those who didn't hear what I said to Steph."

"I am being hunted by a very dangerous person, called Danae. She is one of the scions of an Inner Sphere supersoldier program called Project Gilgamesh, as am I. We were... built to surpass Clan truebirths in terms of ability, and unfortunately, they succeeded."

"I broke away from Gilgamesh several years ago. Apparently, the Project people, in an effort to cover their tracks, used their neuro-conditioning to program her with two orders - kill me, and kill everyone who knows about Gilgamesh. However, they foolishly neglected to exclude themselves from the target list, and the first thing she did was murder them. I only know this because when I went back to the PG bunker, there was nothing there but dead bodies. I checked through the files and saved them onto a disc, which I have since hidden away in a safe place."

"But I digress. Having fulfilled the second part of her mission, she is currently attempting to complete the first part, i.e. the termination of myself. While we may seem evenly matched, you must remember that Danae was created later than me - I was the test bed, she was the finished model. My nano-augmentation is inferior to hers, and her neural programming is more extensive than mine. I am telling you this, because I need your help to take her down."

"Danae is insane, but still brilliant. She is sadistic, intelligent and dangerous - not a good combination. IF I die, tha may pacify her, but for how long I do not know. She could easily justify the killing of innocents as "eliminating those people with knowledge of Project Gilgamesh". However, you need not be too worried for yourselves. Danae is still somewhat rational, however ruthless she may be. She probably won't go after you unless..."

The image of Claire again, grotesquely crucified against the kitchen wall, her throat slashed open, eyes locked in an endles accusing stare...

"...unless she thinks there is some leverage to be gained over me from doing so. I have told you my story, and if you want, you can back out of this. I would not blame you for doing this. I could not. How can I expec a group of strangers to risk their lives for me? Even if they are willing... Well, let's just say that I don't want more people to suffer than need be. "

Virgil sat down on nearby table, picked up the PPIG, and began telescoping it shut.

Stephanie, after spending the whole story leaning down next to Kai, poking him just slightly to pass the time, stood back up straight, going over to the table.

"I'll help you. I may not be able to do much against Danae, but I..."

Tell him.

Drawing in a deep breath, she smiled. "You've done so much to help me, it would be wrong of me not to help somehow."

Tell him now.

"And there's.. something I want to tell you but... I'm... I'm not sure now is the right time."

Virgil was silent. It was happening again. Another person was telling him that she... cared for him. The thought brought memory... and the memory brought pain.

"If one does not learn from the mistakes of the past, one will be condemned to repeat them." It was an old saying. But had he really learned?

"How can I say this, Stephanie... I don't know. I gues I... I really, really care for you too. At first i thought it was just because you looked like her, but now... it's something else. ou're not just a shadow of the past to me any more. I...

"...I'm sorry, I'm not good with words but after this is over... maybe we could get to know each other a little better?"

Yes. My path is clear now. It should have been this way in the beginning. I will not let it end that way again.

Stephanie smiled a little, giving a light nod.

"It's alright... We'll both make it out of this... and then, we can go somewhere safe... and be able to talk without any worries."

She stripped off her jacket, setting it down on the table. "But before we go and do anything though, is there a first aid kit here perhaps?"

Whincing softly, she untied the bloody cloth and tossed it aside. "I really need to fix this up before I go out and make it worse."

Virgil glanced at Stephanie's wound. It looked bad, but fortunately it had missed the artery. Still...

"Hmm... Doesn't look good. Hang on a while."

As the others equipped themselves with the weapons from the basement arsenal, Virgil stepped behind the counter and withdrew a small sealed first aid box. He ripped off the plastic covering and opened it, taking a few pieces of gauze, some antiseptic cream and lotion, and a first aid dressing.

"This may hurt." he said without sarcasm as he cut the sleeve around the wound open.

Working with practiced skill he wet a piece of gauze with the lotion, then he swabbed the wound clean with it. Following that, he squirted the antibiotic cream onto the dressing's sterile pad, then clamped it firmly onto the injured limb. He winced with her as she grunted in pain, then began tying the dressing tightly, ending with a knot on top of the wound.

"There, that should do it. Is anybody else hurt?" He asked the others.

Tenjin wandered about the grounds of the Nova Cat Embassy admiring the handiwork of whoever kept the garden this pristine. Tenjin looked to his left and saw Gerek being escorted back to the building by a pair of guards since when does going out for fresh air involve being reprimanded by guards? Tenjin smiled and spoke to Gerek telepathically <leave being stealthy to the professionals, Gerek. Anyway you have not had time to talk with Loremaster Kurita and Isis is just itching to find out how that works out> Tenjin went back to strolling around the gardens before wandering back inside.

Scott turned to Ryan to answer his question. "I don't know how I recovered from that punch. Maybe this has something to do with my past..."

Scott faced Virgil, a serious look on his face. "I don't know who you are, are anyone else is. All I know is that there is a little girl named Maria that has a bullet through her head because of these people!*" Scott's eyes started to glow red, like when he faced the clanner before this all happened. He clenched his fist, and said: "And I will not stand by and watch more innocents be killed." His eyes returnes to their hazel-green color, and he put his hands to his side. "Virgil, I know you stand for a good cause. I'll help in any way I can."

Perhaps I can discover my past, too.

Stephanie whinced in pain as Virgil applied the antibiotic, the proceeded to tightly wrap up the wound. She tried her best to keep from crying as he did so, but in the end she had to wipe away a few tears.

"Thanks..."

She grabbed a hold of her jacket, taking a moment to take out the few pistols she had loaded into her inside pockets to make it weigh a little less, at least for now while she was still getting used to Virgil's tight bandaging. In a bit she would most likely return them to her jacket, just mostly isolated on the opposite side of the jacket so them wouldn't weigh down on the side that was hurt.

"Pardon me for asking..." She started rather meekly as Virgil and Ryan were talking about the anti-mech weapons and such. "I... guess I'll be having to be more.. armed.. when I go back out there..?" She didn't mind the concept of having at least some small weapon to protect herself with, but the stuff that they were talking about... that was the stuff she couldn't really handle.

"Relax, Tor, most of the stuff here is energy and gauss-based. They rely on precision rather than power to work. I have the feeling Danae's power suit troops will be coming back, so at least one of us should carry an anti-walker weapon of some kind."

"And Steph, there should be some kind of body armor or energy shielding in the basement. I have the feeling that would be better for you than any heavy weapon. Danae's Elementals use autocannon, which throw up a lot of shrapnel. Better safe than sorry, if you ask me."

Virgil turned to Scott just as his green eyes turned red at the mention of Maria.

Red? This is oddly familiar...

"Scott, I'm just a guy trying to protect the people around him. I doubt it deserves such a grandiose title as "a good cause". I just want all of us to amke it out alive. But I have a question for you... who are you, really?"

He had a suspicion that Mr. Viewtiful wasn't what he seemed to be.

"W-wait..." Scott stuttered, a panicked look on his face. "I-I am not an an-android."

Even though Steph knocked his guns down so they pointed at the ground, Ryan still had an apprehensive look on his face. "Oh, yeah? How do we know that? For all we know, you could be some killer android sent to assassinate us!"

"I-I can prove it! I am a human!" Think, man, think! Scott quickly looked around the room, and noticed a broken tequila bottle resting on a table next to his left hand. This might work...

Scott picked up the broken bottle, and held it in his left hand. He still looked afraid, but had a little more confidence than before. "R-Ryan, do androids bleed?"

Scott pricked the bottle on the fingertip of his right index finger. Scott made a small wince of pain while blood dripped out of the wound. Scott dropped the bottle and looked at Ryan, saying:

"The reason I could recover from your punch was because you had something dear to me. As you can see, it still hurt quite a bit." Scott put his non-bleeding hand into his mouth, and revealed a bloody molar, knocked loose from the force of his blow, showing it for all to see. "Please don't do that again, that hurt!" he said as he clutched his jaw in pain with his other hand.

Gerek looks around, attempting to find the source of the thought, he spies Tenjin off to the side near the gardens, and sends him a withering glare and the mental image of Tenjin getting kicked in the groin. So he’s a psychic techno ninja? Bah, weirder things have happened.

Guard 1: "It’s lucky we found you really, the Loremaster was just asking to speak with you and nobody wanted to be the one to tell her that you could not be found."

Ah crud.

As things seemed to settled down a little bit, Stephanie started towards the opening in the floor. Climbing down, she looked around the small underground room, finding the armor and protective gear on the back wall. "Well, guess I need to get started..."

A loud thud was heard as some of the body armor was shoved up onto the upper floor, Stephanie slowly climbing up out of the basement. "Phew..." She sat there on the edge for a moment, glancing over at Kai who was stirring a little bit.

I wonder though... even if I am protected.. how am I going to stand a chance out there?

Puting his guns away he continiued to flinch, he had become overly paranoid, he knew it, but how could Scots eyes become red when he was a human, could the Clanners have made a new breed? There were so many questions and so litle time to find all the answers

He went down the attick and picked up a caliber fifty anti tank rifle and some ammo pluss some armour went up into the attick and posisioned himself to take down all mechs that would try to enter the house

Meanwhile, near the outskirts of the city...

Even though it wasn't necessary, the Cauldron Born turned to the Cougar and Shadowcats.

"Have you spotted them yet?"

"Neg sir, nothing. It's as though they vanished off the face of the earth."

"Are you sure we've cleared the jamming radius?"

"Aff, we're roughly twelve klicks away from - wait. It's them! Bearing zero-four-three, range three-fifty!"

"All units fan out and - what the - ZZZZTzz"

As the Cauldron Born attempted to lift off via its jumpjets, six small charges on its feet exploded and borthed a coruscating halo of electrical energy, shorting out the mech's electronic systems and almost destabilizing the fusion containment. Fortunately, the latter was not breached, though what had happened to the metal titan was no less devastating. It actually left the ground for a second before crashing down again, a twitching iron coffin, on top of the nearby Cougar. A second later, both Shadowcats and the Cougar were wreathed in lightning, though one of the Shadowcats was still in a neutral position on the ground, and thus it was still standing after Gwynn's troops had triggered the ion mines.

Cursing, Vince pulled out his hand-held communicator and barked "Elemental Star One and Two! Cover us! We've been downed-"

A cold chuckle across the band cut him off mid-sentence. An Elemental stalked in front of his cockpit and opened its pilot hatch. The woman inside grinned at him as Danae's Ghostalker landed beside her.

"I'm sorry, Cauldron Born, but as you can see, your friends are in no position to help you. But do not despair. You will be meeting them soon."

Miki closed the hatch and took off, leaving Danae in front of the trapped man. She laughed as she watched him scrabble about, frantically trying to get out of the cockpit. Then she turned on the broadcast and spoke, the venom dripping from her tongue.

"You will die as you have lived, trueborn... weak, stupid and pathetic."

The last thing Vince saw was flames erupting fromt he barrel of her autocannon.

"Miki, Gwynn, form up with us again. We'll ahve to sweep the city for Virgil, but I think I know where he's gone."

"You're not the only one who's had a bad day..." She tried to smile as Ryan started towards her to go get his weapons. She stood as he got there, grabbing the armor and making her way to the table to begin putting it on.

"I'm guessing those pistols won't do much good against Danae, huh?" She had taken her jacket back off as she put on the armor.

The more she thought about this, the more she worried. She was trying not to, but couldn't help it...

Okay... I think the chibi-disease has finally worn off @-@ Thank goodness ^^;

Stephanie finished putting on her armor, picking up her jacket and taking the guns out of it. She sat them down onto the table, then carefully put her jacket on over the armor and buttoned it back up.

She had every hope of getting out of this alive, and hoped even more that Virgil would survive this as well. She wanted nothing more than to be able to get off this awful planet and to go somewhere peaceful where they could get to better know each other without worries of being attacked.

Virgil had been too busy listening to the police bands over the miniature radio receiver to notice anything much after seeing Stephanie again. But themore he heard, the more his eyebrows furrowed. Finally he stood up and turned to the group.

"I have... unpleasant news. It seems that the four mechs in the city area have been downed by their Elemental escorts... and a trio of power suits, make unknown. However, from the description, there is no doubt that these suits are the ones commandeered by Danae and her forces."

The worse news is that they are headed out way, and they will be here very, very soon. I suggest we get what we need and leave before it's too late. I have a plan, but if they get here before we can get out, it won't help us much."

"There is a secret passage in the basement which leads to the building opposite the road. I would suggest going that way. I would also suggest taking Kai with us, because I doubt this house is going to survive the tender ministration on Elemental weaponry."

"I'll try to take Kai... You three can get the weapons you need." She made her way to Kai, struggling a bit to hoist him up onto one side. Kai mumbled incoherently and stumbled a bit as she pulled him towards the entrance to the basement.

"I'll go ahead and be making my way over there." She gave a look of concern to Virgil. "Please be careful.. and hurry.." She helped Kai down into the basement following down after him.

After a couple minutes she managed to find the secret passageway and opened it, once again dragging Kai along with her.

"Hn... wazzah..." Kai looked up, still obviously hungover from the tequila. "Who are you..?"

Stephanie wrinkled her nose at the smell of alcohol on his breath, but paid it no heed as she continued through the small passageway. "It's okay, I'm here to help."

Tenjin's Comlink beeped twice indicating someone was wishing to talk to him. Tenjin wandered into the foyer again and opened it up. The same person he had been talking to him regards 'Project 828' was now on screen. "Master Tenjin the long range scanners have indicated that there are three Ghoststalker Powersuits and an escort of elementals heading in your direction. Do you wish me to deploy Destiny near your position?"
Tenjin thought for a moment and then replied " I will have to discuss it with the Loremaster in this embassy but get the Drop Craft ready. Also I will need Destiny equipped with an Anti-mech SMG and a pistol of the same type. Make sure the left and right torso MRM launchers are loaded" The shadow wraith smiled "all to easy Master Tenjin. I shall be waiting for your signal"

Tenjin returned his comlink to his pocket and began to walk towards the doors that led to the meeting room. One of the guards stepped in front of him and said " Sorry sir. Loremaster Minori is addressing one of your group at the moment. I will inform her that you wish to speak to her, OK?" Tenjin nodded " Alright I will be in the quarters assigned to my group. Come and fetch me when she has finished addressing Gerek." With that Tenjin wandered back into the quarters and sat down again.

Before leaving down the passage, Scott was stocking up on weapons. He looked at an anti-mech rifle. Ryan had one of these. I'll grab one, as well. He also picked up a bullet-proof vest, and put it on under his own camo vest. Between this rifle and the two pistols I took off of that clanner, I should be fine.

Scott was about to leave, when he spotted some red liquor. He picked it up, thinking Maybe this will come in handy later...

He started down the passage, without looking back.

Nice load out, thought Gerek as he examined the Mad Dog’s systems from inside the cockpit. He then switched to the freq he had set up with the others. “This is not going to be easy, but we just have to remember, keep away from the elemental and make sure to take out the Scat’s gauss and the Caldi’s rotary. If we can do that then the others will fall.”

Gerek remembered the events that had led up to this,

“-and I do not see why you have not become a loremaster yet yourself. You meet the requirements...I am starting to think that you keep refusing the position because you are attempting to avoid me.” said Minori. Once more, they were in the meeting room. They were both standing, neither one wanting to sit.

“Look, it is a complicated situation a-“ Gerek was cut off by someone over the intercom.

“Loremaster Minori, our sensors read multiple EMP bursts. We have also confirmed that the Jade Falcon Mechs are down. It appears that the Elementals were commandeered. The bodies their previous owners caused quite a stir when they were found and it is all over the police band.”

Minori sighs, “It is likely that this has something to do with that Inner Sphere weapons facility and you contact. I cannot imagine any Clan using such underhanded tactics.” She then addressed the intercom, “Prep my mech for departure, and inform the other pilots of the sortie.”

Gerek: “Not so fast Minori, you are a Loremaster now. You can not go of fighting everytime there is a battle.” Gerek smiled at the expression on Minori’s face, “now you see why I am still a Ranger. So, as since it is my fault for drawing you into this, I ask that you allow me to go in your place. Plus, you will be needed here to coordinate things.”

Minori stared at Gerek for a what seemed like a full minute before answering, “I know your right, and that is what makes me so angry. Come on, I will take you down to the mech hanger, there’s a back way out of this room that leads right there.”

Gerek smiled at the memory, well, I guess I can not die now, not in a mech that is not mine at the very least. He then surveyed his star mates. Two Kit Foxes (http://warhawkppc.tripod.com/mechbay/kitfox.html), two Adders (http://warhawkppc.tripod.com/mechbay/adder.html), a Storm Crow (http://warhawkppc.tripod.com/mechbay/stormcrow.html) and this Mad Dog (http://warhawkppc.tripod.com/mechbay/maddog.html). This is a light star with some good range support.

Gerek thumbed the com online as the group was preparing to leave the bay, “This is our operational strategy, Adders and Foxes leg the two cougars. I’ll take the Scat. Storm Crow takes the Caldi, concentrate your fire on those arm mounted rotary ac/5s . Once we kill their speed we can then fall back to LRM distance and pound the crap out of them. If you feel dishonor about legging the just remember that what they did to get those mechs. Now lets kick some ass.”

As Gerek exited the bay and rounded to face his target the world seemed to slow down. He magnified the reticle over the Shadowcat’s cockpit and grined, Scats were easy to shoot in the cockpit, it was thrust out in front of the mech as if to say, please shoot me here, I will die instantly. Gerek squeezed the trigger and twin lances of Clan ER Large Laser stuck the cockpit, vaporizing ferroglass. Then, just incase the cockpit had not been breached, 40 LRMs slammed into the front of the Scat from the Mad Dog’s missile banks. Gerek watched with delight as the Shadow Cat staggered drunkenly and then fell to the ground. Note: this config of the Mad Dog also has a Clan Large Pulse Laser mounted on a turret under the “chin” of the mech.

As per the plan, the Adders and Kit Foxes broke up and began to attack the cougars, focusing fire on their legs.

Unfortunately, the Storm Crow pilot was off his mark, and completely missed the Cauldron Born, pummeling the ground a dozen meters to the left of his target.

“Loremaster Minori? One of Galaxy Commander Gerek’s Bondsmen wished to speak with you after you were finished speaking with the Commander. Shall I go and call him?”

“Sure go ahead,” sighed Minori. Damn it all, I wish I was out there right now. Now I know why Gerek keeps passing up the opportunity of being Clan Wolf’s Loremaster. She also inwardly chuckled, I wonder how the Shadow Wraith feels about being called a bondsman.

"Well, I can tell this hadn't been used in a while." Stephanie pulled herself up into the room, reaching down and helping Kai inside.

Kai stumbled in, leaning against a wall as he looked out of the window. "From here we'll have a good view of everything... and be safe.."

"I hope you're right..." Stephanie whispered softly.

He wandered in bowed and began to speak "Loremaster Minori as you are well aware there are now three Ghostalkers and a Myriad of elementals heading in our direction. As it stands Clan Shadow Wraith has had in development an experimental bipedial combat chassis which we have now deemed completed after 8 years of development, construction and testing"

Minori wondered what this had to do with anything. "and your point is?"

Tenjin quckly came back with "no point but rather a request. As current leader of Clan Shadow Wraith I hearby request that you allow one CSW drop craft carring six personel in total to deploy the Destiny on the embassy's landing pad"

Tech: "The enemy Cougars are outnumbered two to one, the enemy shadow cat is down. Elemental and Ghoststalker status is unknown. The Cauldron Born is under heavy LRM barrage from Commander Gerek and the Captain Romol."

Minori: "But, as you can hear, if you do not hurry, the battle might be over before you get a chance to deploy your newest weapon."

Tenjin smiled "thankyou. this assistance will not be forgotten"
Tenjin opened his comlink again "deploy the Destiny on the helipad"

Within a few minutes the Drop Craft was already leaving, its package deployed. Tenjin clambered into the cockpit and ran it up. Destiny wirred to life, picked up the SMG and pistol and jumped over the embassy and landed in the street. Thanks to the technology CSW had developed, Destiny moved almost as if it were human. Tenjin activated the long range scope "targets are 3 klicks away I should be able to run that but I want to make an entrance" Tenjin flicked two switches, opening the covers of the overboost thrusters. Tenjin jammed his thrust controls as far foward as they would go. The boosters screamed into life and sent Destiny hurtling down the street at nearly mach 1. As it was moving Tenjin drew one of the las-blades from the inside of the machines's forearm and readied it. In a blaze of glory Destiny screamed past Gerek and his companion and cleaved the Cauldron Born in half diagonally before looping around and standing next to Gerek's mech. Tenjin opens his comlink "did you miss me?"

As the Cauldron Born fell, Yang was already giving orders to the Elementals and 'mechs.

"Lost Carth, repeat lost Carth to HS contact. All units, down immediately, repeat, all units down."

"Yang, what do you make of this. Too damn fast for clanner tech, if you ask me?"

"Damned if I know, Piotr, but whatever it is, it's fast and took out the CB in one hit. Doubt out jet assists could keep up."

"Nevertheless, it will be slowed in a city fight. It must still obey the geometries of the streets and buildings, whereas the powersuits and infantry can blend in, to some extent." Danae chimed in.

"That said, we still have at least two heavy 'mechs and one unknown on the loose. We will be unable to close to contact if they are in the way." Piotr replied.

"A diversion, then. Have the Cougars run interference away from us. Motoko, do your people have the core signature generators ready?"

The voice over the intercom was distorted with static. "Aff on that, my team has set them up and wired them to deploy with landlines."

"Good." Danae thought the broadcast to "ALL". "Yang, Piotr, we're going in stealth. Miki, Gwynn, take five suits and flank the two mechs. Juli, get your men into flank positions around the unknown and prep the non-chemical explosives. Allocate some AW gunners to Miki's team - she doesn't have nearly enough to try a surprise attack. Frank, Edric, take your Cougars and change your course to lead away from the destination. As soon as you get their attention, all units draw the walkers off. I want a clean kill. "

A chorus of "rogers", "yes ma'am" and other affirmatives filled the net, then the channel went silent.

As the three Ghostalkers went invisible again, Piotr bursted Danae.

"Where are we headed?"

Her reply was equally succinct.

"Rasalhague 8, of course."

As the Ghostalker geared up into a full run, she reached inside her jumpsuit pouch and ran her fingers over the three discs, reassuring herself that they were still there.

I'll need you... I know it. Even with the armored corps around... I'll need you.

"ETA 2 minutes." the suit's computer stated blandly.

Danae smiled.

In the dusty attic of the house, Virgil laid the large plate down in front of him. He closed his eyes and thought carefully. Then he stood up, and began.

[OOC] humm, i think we have different views about the forces assembled on the field. Here's a recap of what i thought was out there. Cauldron Born (dead), Shadow Cat (dead), Two cougars vs. two kitfoxes (aka Uller) and two Adders (aka Puma aka Spellmaster), A reinforced elemental star, 3 Ghost Stalkers (i'll rope these in as powerful protomechs), A Storm Crow, A Mad Dog (aka Vulture), and Destiny.

Now, lets just assume that the fast response group had a star of mechs, that adds two shadow cats to the list. Now everything is working perfectly [OOC]

Gato: Actually, I didn't plan to have Danae and co. capture any mechs, though after seeing you force compo it may not be such a bad idea.

What I believed was on Danaes side: 3 Ghostalkers, 7 catured Elementals, 2 captured Cougars, 1 dead Cauldron Born. The Shdowcat got banged up too heavily during the ambush.

Mr. V: There are some infantry squads who weren't put into power armor. These guys have anti-mech and anti-infantry weapons.

Hope that cleared something up.

"Hey... yer that girl...the one that Virgil was going to bring back to us since his other mission got screwed..." Kai's voice still slurred from the alcohol, but he was beginning to become more cognizant of his surroundings, first of all noticing the girl that had been in the last few conversations between them and Virgil before Danae and her goons had bursted in.

Stephanie pulled away from the window, looking dead at Kai. "What?"

"Stephanie Douglas. Only probably the most wanted girl this side of the galaxy. Virgil was going to be bringing you in."

She frowned as he said that. "No way!" Besides, why should she believe the ramblings of a half-drunk man. "This isn't the time for this anyway!" She returned her attention to looking out the window.

Virgil wouldn't get close just to turn me in. I know he wouldn't.

Frank and Ed had just changed their course when an unknown station hailed them.

"I call the Cougars!"

Frank raised an eyebrow and radioed his lancemate.

"Ed, who the hell is this?"

"Damned if I know, but from the way he took Carth apart we can't screw around any more..."

"You in the Cougars, I would highly recommend pissing yourselves followed by a course of praying to your impotent god, though suicide is always an option. But make it quick. I despise long engagements."

Edric hmphed and replied to his buddy.

"What a fucking idiot... he's obviously never played with us before..."

He changed frequencies and hailed Destiny.

"So you wish to die quickly! Well, talk is cheap! Just bring it!"

"Challenge us? You fool! We'll show you your place!"

Destiny charged Frank and Ed, but before he reached them, the two mechs jumped apart in unison, revolving to face Destiny in mid-air and landing behind clusters of buildings. The infantry in the way were not so lucky, though. Two men were caught in the superhot radioactive backwash of Destiny's boosters and instantly disintegrated, and a number of Juli's men had been injured by exploding glass from the overpressure of Destiny's passing. Even as she supervised the bandaging of the wounded, she radioed Frank.

"The unknown's too fast! Not just that, he's dangerous to us even without without targeting us! There's nothing else to be done - we're going to ground. You two, keep his attention in the air. We'll contact you via sonarphone and burst."

"Got it, Jules." Frank said. "Ed! Give him the double-cross!"

As one, the Cougars jumped again, this time opening fire on Destiny beneath them.

Virgil folded up the plate-like device he had brought up with him. It was time. He slid down the banisters and laid it in the center of the room. Then he sat behind the door and waited.

He didn't really expect the plan to work on her, but he hoped against hope anyway.

Listen to me, please...

The fighting was still going on around and on above the Ghostalkers as they pased the Nova Cat embassy. Invisible, almost silent in the sounds of gunfire, their footfalls generated only the barest amount of vibration thanks to the hard rubber pads on their feet units. The Elementals behind them, in comparison, were larger and noisier, but they were at the same time more heavily armed and armored.

"We're here." Danae said as she saw the "8" nameplate.

She was just about to collapse the building in a volley of laser and autocannon rounds when a shout from inside gave her pause.

"Danae! Wait!"

What th- Virgil?

True enough, the door opened and Virgil came out, hands raised.

"It's been long enough. Let's not make it hard on ourselves."

Destiny boosted backwards avoiding the shots by a mile. It returned the sword to its arm and drew two anti-mech pistols from ports in each hip and opened fire tracking each Cougar perfectly. Tenjin smiled as Frank's left arm went flying and the left hip actuator spat out sparks. Ed managed to get off a litte lighter as the bullet slammed into the torso actuator. Tenjin opened his comlink "obviously YOU have no Idea what Destiny is capable of" Tenjin smiled again as Destiny leveled the pistols at each target as they landed.

Frank noted the loss of the left arm impassively.

Only a laser. A mere flesh wound.

Ed raised an eyebrow, as did Frank. This one's arrogance was annoying.

"You have no idea..." they said in unison. A second before touching the ground they triggered their jets, moving in opposite directions and flanking Destiny. They crouched low in their dashes, dripping behind rows of buildings which erupted into fountains of fire and dust. Explosions followed them as they continued their rocket-powered slalom, but they were untouched by Destiny's volley.

"Now! Cross-up!"

The two mechs boosted up just high enough to expose their shoulders over the roofs of the buildings and fired salvos of 20 LRMs from their shoulder pods. At such close ranges the guided missiles were impossible to avoid, even with Destiny's speed and they took the mecha in the left and right arms, crushing the armored plates and the myomers beneath them, sending it crashing to the ground.

Frank and Ed ended their shootdodge behind a multi-storey carpark and a financial building respectively.

"Next we hamstring him. It'll be safer now that his arms are damaged."

"This is Juli. My men are entrenched. Get him over to the central business district and we can let the fun begin."

"Wilco, Jules. NARC him if you can. We almost lost track of him in the first dash. And keep some of your men mobile - he's way too fast for most ambushes."

Danae adjusted her controls and the exterior speakers came to life. "What kind of trick is this?"

"No trick. The forces you brought have destroyed too much already. In all likelihood, hundreds may have been killed by your actions, and if this keeps up hundreds more will suffer for it. I must stop this. Even if it means sacrificing myself."

Saying so, he took another step forward and and laid his PIG and generator on the ground. Then he removed his pistols from their sleeve holsters and set them down as well.

"See? No guns. No tricks. If you want to end it, do it now. I am not afraid."

He closed his eyes and raised his hands again.

"Just promise me that the killing will end here."

Danae chuckled.

"It's a shame, Virgil. I expected more of a challenge."

The right arm with its autocannon rose.

"Too bad you have to die like this."

The targeting laser shone forth... and passed through Virgil's body! At the same time, an explosion came from the roof and a black figure shot through the air.

As expected...

"Nice try, Virgil! But not good enough!"

"Oh, really?

What the hell-

Danae looked down again and had just enough time to notice Virgil firing his PIG in the middle of a slide. Then the plasma shell sent her smashing into the building next to the one the others were hiding in. Virgil landed ina crouch and sprung off again, his movements too fast to be natural, his glowing red eyes leaving a burning crimson trail as he pirouetted through a storm of gunfire.

"Try aiming next time, idiots. And by the way Danae... it's Venedict now. "

Yang launched a grenade his way. Virgil hopped up a fire hydrant, rebounded off that to a second-storey window and landed on a rooftop water container after firing another plasma shell. Yang was prepared though, and the shell's splash damage only made a few minor dents in the armor.

Venedict hopped off, crouching low on the opposite corner of the roof to keep out of sight.

It's been too long... too long since I last did this...

Piotr's Ghostalker leapt up as well, lances of light boiling away the masonry around Venedict.

Scott heard explosions outside, and joined Steph in looking out the window. Virgil fired his PPIG at an enemy mech, and he was dodging bullets inhumanly. What kind of man is this? He looked closer, and saw a red hue around him. For a brief second, Virgil turned to face the window. Scott looked at what he was doing, then what Scott did to that Clanner, then Virgil's explanation on Gilgamesh. It all makes sense now...

"Steph...I think I know who I am now..." Scott said. "Virgil's eyes are glowing red, and he's dodging fire like it was nothing, like what I was doing that one day..." He turned to face Steph. "I think I might be part of Project Gilgamesh."

Destiny staggered back as it was hit by LRM fire and fell over. Then in a staggering display Denstiny clammered to its feet and readied itself again. The left arm actuators were not responding. Tenjin thought to himself for a moment I could use the Omega Engine to repair the damage but I prefer to wait until they think im almost finished Destiny braced itself as the panels on its shoulders slid open revealing the MRMs. The quicklock system already had both them locked. The MRMs let loose a volley that would make any pilot scared. Destiny seemingly vanished under the mass of smoke generated by the missles as they hurtled towards Ed and Frank.

"You're one of them too?" Stephanie echoed him, turning back around to watch out the window, but much to her dismay saw Danae in her mech hurdling towards them.

"Next room, now!" Kai was surprisingly sobered up enough to grab at Stephanie and Scott, and without resistant they complied, ducking into the adjacent room as Danae slammed through the man wall.

The impact was enough to shake the whole house, and as the dust settled the trio peered out into the now obliterated room that they had once been standing it.

Did he do it?

Kai was the first in the group to venture out to see whether she was still alive or not. Steph and Scott hung back, never letting their eyes leave the mech.

Once he arrived at Danae's side, he gave the mech suit a good hardy kick, whincing as he limped away a couple of feet. "I think he actually did it." He laughed a bit as he started towards the other two, not able to hear the voice that was speaking inwardly to himself.

Damn... him..

Stephanie frowned as Kai made his way back. "Was it really necessary to kick it?" She had to raised her voice over the shots and explosions outside now, not noticing the slight movement that the mech began to make.

Ryan finished positioning his anti-mech rifle when he saw a mech attack Virgil

He smiled for himself as he fired of several rounds at the mech trying to disable it but to no use

"Shit the power box must have been moved, maybee it's a custom made"

He started to fire at it, hitting the whole area that he could see of it untill he saw something that sparked, but when he was about to reload a grenade landed infront of him

He dropped all of his stuff and ran towards some metal crates trying to get in cover, but just as he came behind one if the crates the grenade exploded and he got some shrapnel in his right foot and shoulder

-Argh fuck, Steph, Scott, help me here

The bood started to flow through the wounds and he started to feel weaker

-Aah, must get down and get some bandages soon. Agh fuck how big was that thing
