You know with all the talk of 8-bit Theatre on Adult Swim and how to get around the copyright laws, that I got to thinking...
"Nuklear Age" is own by Brian. Why not make an cartoon show based off the book?
I know this idea might be a couple years too soon, however I think it's not a bad idea to talk about it now. Do you know Brock Samson from the Venture Brothers? That's how I invision Nuklear Man and what I think his voice sounds like. Brian will have to voice Atomik Lad, because I think he wrote the character as an extention of himself.

"Well, I'm sorry to admit that I'm honestly more like Nuklear Man. Atomik Lad is more like what I ought to be/try to be so my friends don't dump me for being such a deplorable, nonstop jerk
Really though, Atomik Lad was set up to be the most "human" character, the one the audience would have to most identify with. So I had to make him the most realistic and consistent. I don't know anyone as well as I know myself, so I became kind of a model for Sparky.
What I mean is: when he was confronted with a situation, I didn't think "What would I do?" but rather "What would I do if I was this good person with these abilities and his history in this world?" By the same token, Rachel is a lot like me too. She likes video games and food and she's constantly hitting on Sparky. It's basically how I act toward Lydia but I think she stays with me because she isn't aware that it's not an act that will eventually stop.
Poor, poor Lydia.
And, yeah, Sparky is probably a lot like me, but that's because I was writing him. All authors invest some of themselves in their characters, it's the easiest way to convey realistic characters. Angus and Nuke and Shiro and Dr. Genius and Dr. Menace etc. are all a lot like me in their own ways too, but perhaps it's less obvious because everyone that isn't Atomik Lad is also a little crazy and those elements are played up."-Kurosen A.K.A Brian Celvinger.

Excellent idea. As I'm reading the book I can't help but invision it as a cartoon, I think Adult Swim would be the perfect television outlet for it.

I don't know about a cartoon show...one of the joys of the book is that you each reader gets to imagine it their own way...if you make a cartoon, it will probably conflict with many readers' pre-set image of the charactors and settings in Nuklear Age. I just think Nuklear Age was meant to be a book, and many of its literary subtleties would dissapear with the creation of a movie or cartoon show.

Strange, Whilst reading the book i couldn't not picture Nuklear man as coach Mc Guirk (From "Home movies" on Adult swim)
They both have blondish hair and yellow and orange full body suit. And Mc Guirk looks a bit like hes atheletic (but isnt)

While this is true, having Nuklear Age as a cartoon would greatly increase the readership. And get Brian more moneys. And give us all something new to watch!
...Did I mention Brian would get more moneys?

I don't think AS would go for something like Nuklear Age. It's not "wacky" enough and, if it was picked up, it'd never make it to the last season.

There's that too...I mean, NA has stuff like, y'know, a relavent plotline and such...
Whereas most of the shows on AS (I'm talking about you, AquaTeamHungerForce) are not even aware of the concept of "relevancy".
Also, how would one subdivide NA into episodes? You'd either have to make it a mini-series or just do spin-off subplots each episode. Somehow, I don't think an NA TV-show would work out on any channel, let alone AS, simply 'cause of logistics...

I know it might be impossible, but you can't help but dream about it...

Sorry if I sound N00bish in anyway.. but who the hell is FatCat0....?
I've never read the book but I plan to.... what exactly is it about... sorry I'm pretty new around here.
I'm a flash animator (not a extrememly great one) but better than most. I'm mainly a programmer. anyway I wouldn't mind animating any of Brian's work.... so maybe if I get the book sometime I'll ask brian to animate a bit of it or something.

I think that Nuklear Age would be better off divided into either a Movie or Comic (but not sprite) Trilogy. The First movie/comic "Nuklear Man" follows the novel until the end of the Crushtacean portion of the novel. The second film/comic entitled "Nuklear Man vs. Superion" or some equally cliche title accaounts for everything between the First movie/comic and ends with Ima spotting the large N comet/ship. The last feature "The Fall of Nuklear Man" finishes the remainder of the novel.

I think that would be a great idea. Sure, you'd lose out on the little things that you can only get by reading it, but a Nuklear Age movie would be awesome. When I was reading the book, I could always imagine certain action scenes in the big picture, and I would love it. Of course, the story would probably end up being cut down to the essentials so it could fit in one movie, two if it must, and three only for the biggest productions, like Lord of the Rings, for example.

As nice as this sounds, Nuklear Age can't be fully expressed in a visual medium. Too much of the book's tone is carried in the use of certain words and/or grammar structures for the book to be translated, either into a different medium or even a different language.

when i was reading the book, i was imagining it all kind like "the incredibles" kind of graphics. it would be pretty kool. i can imagin the trailer to NA movie. have the graphics kinda like the incredibles. and have like critics give this movie 4 stars. *clip from movie* "hey whats that falling from the sky?" *this is during nihel and his crew falling from the sky* "it looks like 4 stars". it it full of out of ur seat action. *nukie jumps off of his couch* "NO WAY!!!" and some other critic give it two thumbs up. *nukie puts up two thumbs* "go for it sparky" other stuff like what the narrator says bout critics in trailers and makes fun of it with clips from the movie.
and then a secondary trailer with the thing in the back of the book that says so theres a giant robot, a evil villain hell bent on world domination, a usuper, etc. and the "not all at once of course" line, while after he says each name, have a clip of each character he names. with the "everything in this book [movie] is completely true.... on a totally differnt note. i tend to exaggerate.......and LIE." some time later
and in the clips you gotta have something even funnier to attract the pplz attentions. so just put in a funny part from the courtroom scene. and put in kat kat. and nukie haulucinating in the car.
gawd that would be frikkin awesome to have an NA movie with the incredibles graphics. like pixar.
this movie would have to be probably rated pg-13. cuz the cursing. like "what she doesnt have a fuckhole?" thing. cutting out all the bad stuff for the children... then there would be missing like 1/3 of the funnies.

u kno, i wuz thinking of saying something earlier. like, did pixar try to steal ure script? the superion/menace thing really resembles the syndrome thing, eh?

Yeah, but syndrome lacked Superior Charm (tm).

Well this is now on The List (tm). You see, I have a goal, a purpose, an overal agenda of what I will do in my life. Unfortunantly I lack a plan to achive said goal at this time. (That's not entirerly true, I just have to complete Step 1 before I can even begin to think about what Step 2 will be). But that goal is get into the CG movie industry and push through some of my favorite books. Namely Weis and Hickman's Dragonlance Chronicals, Legends, The Second Generation, and Dragons of Summer Flame as three trilogies (at a release rate of 1 per 6 mo with a year between trilogies that's five years of merchandising goodness). This book, and it's ineviable sequel are now on The List (tm). But it may fall off that list depending on how the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy translated. No offense to Brian, but I fear the genre just won't translate well.
Edit: Also, I would use the premise of the banner ad on the right side of the main page to start the preview.
Announcer: He can shoot beams from his hands.
Nuke: And other places.
A: Er, what?
N: I'm doing it right now.

Even though I haven't read Brian's book, the idea sounds good...

Trust me, it's more expensive than most, but well worth it!
As much as I'd like to see a NA movie/series/mini-series/whatever, at the smae time I don't. I mean, there are ways to get around some of the literary elements, it won't be near as good as the book, but it's do-able. Like have it cut to Ima self-narrating some big discovery about whatever is going on instead of the little side note quirks that make the book work... Like I said, not as good, but do-able... The main problem is the transition from imagination to animation. Take for instance how you imaginedAtomik Lad fighting Nihel you might have invisioned it one really awesome way with the color of his Atomik Field, but someone else might see it completely differently. And if it was animated then wheover sees it is confined to invisioning it the way its shown... so it'll lose a lot of it's flare..
Dunno why I darkened that bit, guess for soem reason it seemed sorta spoiler-ish...
