Calie had felt herself being drawn back to civilization. There was something evil growing and she knew that alone she could do nothing about it, but if there were others...maybe there was a chance. She had wandered the continet and finally came upon the holy city of Chyrellos. Impossible! Nothing could be so big! She stood on a hillside that over looked the vast city. In all her 10 years of self-inflicted exile had she ever encountered something that caused such paralizing fear.
Am I ready for this? she wondered. I've come so far, and I still feel drawn into the city, but all those humans! What will they do when they learn I'm not like them? She sat upon the spingy grass and decided to wait for her courage to come back to her before venturing into the sprawling city.

Azrael rode up to the top of the hill. Chyrellos, the holy city, the jewel of all Elenes. He had business the leader of the Cyrinic order had called Azrael in to the holy city. (up to you dona why azrael was called to the holy city.)

Rath walked as though he had spent the last night doing something great deal more exciting than sleeping in the rain. To his mind It always paid to look diffrently from how he felt, and how he felt was miserable. His travel boots had worn down to little more than leather stockings, and his money pouch was painfully light. Adjusting his sword under his cloak, he mumbled his thoughts out loud to him self

"A city that large, a man should be able to get in and out with a whole lotta money and not a lot of notice. And get more than a little drunk to boot."

Still, he could not help but pull the hood of his cloak further up over his head. A city that large also ment that he might run into somene he knew. Rarely was that ever a good thing. Peering out from the shadow so his cowel, he took stock of his road companions. No one he knew.... might be time to make some new friends....

Ansythesay was walking along a main street in Chyrellos. It was a hot sunny day. There were thousands of peolple walking through the street. The city was bustling. "Yes, it was worth taking this trip," thought Ansythesay. It had been a several day long trip here from Kadach, her hometown. She had quite a lot of money along (obdained from her job as an engineer), enough for the classiest inn. Now she was shoping. "Great! A shop of fruit, just what I wanted." yelled Ansythesay suddenly. Everyone started staring at her, but she ignored it:"YAY!" she yelled, running into the little shop. "I'd like that please, and that and that and that. You have so many fruit," She said to the shopkeeper. After having bought all she wanted she wanders back into the street. Once again, people encircle her, as she moves on.

Argoth wandered aimlessly through the forest near Chyrellos. For three hundred years he had wandered aimlessly in this place helping the odd traveler if they became waylayed. Today seemed no different, though it definately felt otherwise. The world felt out of alignment and it felt as though the gods themselves were in need of help. Argoth shrugged. There was little a lowly spirit could do at a time like this. All he could do was wait.

Lia wandered into the town of Chyrellos, amazed by the huge city. "Wow, this place is at least ten times bigger than our cathedral..." She leaned against her staff and glanced at all of the bustling people milling through the streets. <In a town so huge... where should I head first...?> She mused... "Ah-hah! The church!" She smiled as she headed on her way to the church, not exactly sure where it was, but due to past experience with churches, heading towards the center of town was a good place to start.

Calie felt she waited long enough. Besides, staring at the city did nothing to help her fears and she figured the only way to get over her panic was to just get it over with. Oh well, if this doesn't work out I can still run back to the forest. She started down the hill and soon entered the city. All around her people were milling about and the general noise was enough to make her wince every time another merchant shouted his wares. I hope they don't carry on like this all night, how can they stand the noise?
Even though she had no definite destination, her feet uneeringly carried her closer and closer to the center of the city.

Kilik lazily swept between the pews of the church. He had come to this town a day ago, carrying no money with him. The church offered to take him in, and he did chores for them. With a large groan, he leaned against his broom, looking at the rest of the church. He was in the center, having cleaned only a small portion of the church. “This place is to large…” He mumbled to himself, dropping the broom. The noise echoed through the church. The entire place was suprisingly empty, save a few people who came in to pray for a minute or two, then left.

Deciding to take a little break, Kilik sighed and lied down on the pew next to him, putting his hood over his face. A quick nap wouldn’t hurt…

Argoth's eyes flashed brightly and he felt strangely compelled to enter the truly massive city that lay before him. Despite the urge to enter the Chyrellos Argoth could only bring himself to stand at the edge of the forest and watch people talking to the guards. Argoth was certain he would never be allowed in. He was a Dark Knight not only that he was a spirit, a wandering ghost trapped in his armour. The people of Chyrellos were immensely religious and superstitious and would never allow him inside the city.

"Ah hah! Finally made it!" Lia looked up at the cathedral, which was massive, much like the city. She wandered inside and marveled at the architecture of the building. She wandered up to the center of the church, where a large alter was standing. After bowing her head for a few minutes, she turned and begane leaving the room. On her way out, something on one of the pews caught her eye.

"Augh!" She jumped when she saw a body, lying on the pew, his eyes closed. She crept over to him, and looked down on him. "Is he... dead...?" <How sad, he must have been persecuted and beaten all of his life, but in his final hours, he was such a good man, that he found his way to the cathedral so he could rest in piece...> She was thinking, letting her imagination get the best of her. <I should pray for him...> She reverently bowed her head and started to pray for the man's soul.

(OOC: hehehe. She's gonna be a fun character to play. ^^ Letting her imagination always get the best of her.)

The press of people on the road had swept toward the heart of the city. Never one to unnessisarily fight the current, Rath went right along with the mob. He (like everyone else within ear shot) was more than a little surprised to hear screaming coming out of a holy temple. Looking around quickly he saw that everyone was staring rather agast at the open front door of the church.
"If everyone is busy watching the front..." Rath mumbled to himself, letting the thought die unuttered.
Sensing a busines opportunity he slipped around to the back. Useing years of experiance, he deftly let himself in, and began to work his way forward through the building.

Dezil had was enjoying himself down at a tavern, further down the street from the cathedral. <I don't know why I didn't come to Chyrellos sooner, good food, good drink, friendly people, I could get to like this> He thought. Suddenly he was interrupted when someone ran in the tavern yelling, "Something is happening at the temple, someone says there is an undead creature attacking!" Dezil hopped off his stool and decided to see what was going on, along with a few others in the tavern who left to see what was happening.

Argoth sat on a tree stump and watched as various people wandered in and out. He figured that if he waited until nightfall he might be able to get in with a marginal few noticing him. One of the gate guards pointed at him and another wandered over. "ah sir we're going to have to ask you to leave bec..." Bits of a sentence, muffled by distace, drifted to Rath's ears. Either he was hearing things or there was a very stupid woman in the nave of the church. Judging from the way she was talking about zombies, she was likely the one who screamed as well. Doing a quick mental calculation, Rath decided that the retribution for stealing from some half wit was likely to be much less than that of stealing from the church. He quickened his stride and burst into the nave from behind. "I thought I heard screaming, whats going on?"

He did his very best to look concerned.

By the time Dezil and the others got there, the crowd was dispersing, with people muttering about false alarms and mistaken identity. The other taverners simply went back to return to their drinking, but curiosity got the better of Dezil, so he walked up the stpes into the church. He approached a small group there, including an angry looking man holding a confused woman, and said, "Excuse me, but you seem to have caused quite a stir, and I for one wish to know what happened here," looking somewhat suspiciously at the gathering.

Argoth stared down at the guard who was now shaking like leaf "well what do you propose to do about my sitting on this tree stump?" The guard stammered and stuttered before saying "n-n-n-not much actually. I'll be going now!" with that he raced back to the gate as fast as his legs would carry him. Argoth had no intention of hurting anyone he just liked this spot. In any case he sat here so he could see when the guards changed shifts or fell asleep (even then the latter option would only occour around midnight). When this happened Argoth would use this opertunity to pay homage at the church as he did every night then slip out undetected.

Rath ignored the rather stuffy looking knight. There was simply no way he was going to miss a mark like this woman. Sweeping up to her grandly he put his most winning smile into place.

"But my dear, I fear that you have taken a rather short sighted view of the world. Simply because this event proved to be less than fatal does not mean you are not in danger. This is a hostile world we live in, and you would do well to find your self a protector. I for instance happen to be a trained body guard, and am currently unemployed. But of course you would want a trial period before hiring me. So i will guard you free of charge for the course of the next week. Samson was busily walking through the city, and was having a hard time doing it. The people would usually stop him to try and say hello, or shake hands, or do something good. They were WAY too friendly. And Samson didn't like overly friendly people. In fact, he didn't like people. His cloak hood was over his head, and his sword was under his cloak, so not many people were scared of him. If they only knew what he could do.

Suddenly, he was hit in the back. Some guard had run into him. Samson didn't move, but the guard fell over. Samson turned around quickly and looked at the man.

"Well, aren't you going to apologize?" The man said nothing. Samson quickly pulled his sword out, and pointed it at the man. The sword turned red, and then became a flaming sword.

"I said, aren't you going to apologize?" The man had a look of fear on his face, and quickly stood up and apologized.

"I'm very sorry. I was just upset. You see, there's this dark knight standing outside by the forest, and he doesn't want to leave. And I'm not strong enough to fight a monster like THAT. But...maybe YOU are. Would you mind doing this task for your god?" Samson put his blade back in his sheath.

"That depends. How much is my god going to pay me?"
"But, sir. Your reward will be having your god look kindly on you when you have rid his church of that creature."
"Well, god's looks aren't going to buy me dinner. Now, how much are you willing to spend?"
"Does 2,500 gold (OOC: What kind of currency do they use?) suit you."
"Add one more zero to that number, and you got yourself a knight."
"Alright then. But, I expect that creature to never return here. Understand?"
"Yeah, sure."

And with that, Samson walked out of the city, and began to head for the dark knight.

"Can you believe some people now-a-days?" Some woman said to her husband.

"Crying out zombie in a peaceful setting such as this?" He lifted his hands in disgust.

Anzai walked up to the two, "Excuse me... but did I hear zombie come from your mouth?"

The woman nodded, "Aye, you did, but it was just the shouts or a strange woman."

"Where was the shouting?"

The man took his turn and pointed to the building that the monk was just looking at. "The cathedral, right there."

Anzai bowed in front of the couple, "I thank you for your help," and walked on his way. Arriving at the church steps, he took a look up the large doors. Giving it a push he entered inside and saw a crowd gathered near the center, but one person sat near the end, apparently preying. He looked around, "You have no idea what this place is? Why, this place is a church. Where people come to prey for their God here. Isn't it nice?" He said, admiring the place himself, after taking a deep breath, "Like you... I have never been here before, I was just told of its vast beauty. I see now they were right." When she looked up she saw a croud of people disussing some matter near the front. She partly stood up to go join them when she realized what she was doing and quickly sat back down. "I don't even know where I am and who those people are. This guy seems nice enough so when he wakes up I'll ask him if he would mind if I tagged along for awhile. He seems to know what he's doing" she thought to herself. She crossed her legs on the seat, pulled her cloak around her, and closed her eyes as well.

Mean while, preceptor Abriel had entered the great cathedral and after making a perfunctionary bow at the alter, began searching through the various chapels until he found the young Cyrinic knight, Azrael. "There you are, Azrael. I was beginning to wonder if my message reached you." He entered the chapel and sat down next to the knight. However, never before have they tried to combine their forces and attack simultaniously. Our brother knights have confirmed our own reports of an alliance between the two deamons. We have always been able to defeat one or the other, but the other preceptors and I have decided that should they indeed strike as one our defenses would be useless against them unless we find a way to destroy them once and for all. This is why I have sent for you. Out of all of the orders, there is not one knight with your skill, strength, or ingenuity. The head of the other orders and I all agree that because of this, it shall be YOU who must bear the great task of finding a way to rid our world of the Elder gods." Abriel looked at Azrael with compassion. "Do not worry, my boy, this is not an impossible task. Many ancient texts speak of a stone with the power to destroy the gods, and even an old musty tome of our faith speaks of such a stone. So I charge you, Azrael, to take with you whoever can help with such a task and find this thing of power. The only suggestion I can make would be to find a scholar who has studied ancients written works to find if there is a resting place for such a thing." For some reason that actually made Abriel feel better. "Have faith, Azrael. Get word to us every now and then so we know you're still alive." He grasped the other man's hand "God be with you...you'll need it". With that said he got up and left the chapel.

Rath look startled, if only for a flash. He had not expected opposition from the dusty room-sweep.

"Now see here friend, I have never in my life "scammed." And my training more than makes up for my size. It's all about how you use what you've been given. Now, the lady and I were conducting a life and death negotiation.

With that Rath swept Kilik's hand from is shoulder. The man was obviously too poor to warent beeing engratiating toward.

ooc: damn, too little sleep...

"What? neither did I. I have no idea what you are talking about, now please, go about your business and leave me to mine"

Rath followed this comment with a smile, as he casually sized the bothersome man up. It would never do to start a fight in a church, but if it came down to it...

He quickly brushed the thought from his mind, and swung back to the young priestess, lest she start to think for herself. Chatter was key to the fast talk.

"Now, as I was saying before the interuption, if you don't need a guard, perhapse a guide? I do know this city intimately, while you seem quite new here. If you will let me, I can show you sites that most would not even dream were in the city. And that is saying quite a bit. But please, as you well know it is unseemly to discuss such matters in a church. let us take this out side?

With a firm hand to the small of her back, Rath attempted to draw the woman away from the man with the broom.

Ashynthesya had looked at the conversation going on. The priestess had only m umbeled a bit, the guy who offered him self as a bodyguard had changed the subject to a tourguide. The broomguy said nothing. Oh well, might as well as tag along, Ashynthesya thought and ran after them. On her way there was a lonely looking lady:"Hello! Shocked again at how often her rest was being interrupted, Calie looked at the girl almost angerly. "I am not sad, but resting. Is it customary to disturb people when they seek peace?" she said this with a bit more venom than she intended and quickly regretted it. "I am sorry, I did not mean to be so rude. In answer to your question, no, I am not sad. Are people usually this friendly in the city? I am new here and do not know....anything really. Do you live here? I do not know my way around this place, would you mind if I followed you?" She had grown tired of waiting for the monk next to her to wake up so she felt that if everyone was going to be so friendly, she might as well take advantage of it.

Samson walked up to the large black knight, and pulled out his sword.

"Well, hello there. Nice day, isn't it? Just to sit around on a stump all day, doing nothing. But, of course, doing nothing could turn into something. Such as, say, fighting for your life."

Samson's sword glowed a yellow, and it began to crackle with electricity.

"Sorry about this, but $250,000 is good money. Farewell."

Samson swung his sword down heavily at the dark knight.

Argoth watched as the stranger's sword came down scoring a deep slash in his chest plate Why did it always have to come to this? Argoth drew Argamemnon. As the sword touched his hands hundreds of runes scored into the blade lit up with a ruddy glow and his eyes liereally exploded into an inferno of spectral fire. "You have just made the biggest mistake of your life" with that he let out a gutteral growl and made a strike for the stranger's torso. He quickly parried but almost lost a hold of his sword under the force of Argoth's swing rolling left as Argoth brought his sword down again. Argoth wrenched his sword out of the ground and swung again, Argamemnon becoming lodged half way through a tree trunk. After trying to remove it Argoth realised the futility of it and turned around just fast enough to see the stranger trying to split his "head" open. He quickly raised his hands and caught the blade. The stranger struggled to remove it from his grasp. Argoth twisted the blade out of his hands and flung it over his shoulder. It was now a fist fight. Argoth reeled his fist back and swung but only succeeded in scraping a bit of skin away near the outside of the strangers right eye. The stranger staggered back before sending out a kick to Arghoth's left knee. Argoth knee jerked back and he dropped to the floor. In the time that he had the stranger relocated his sword and pointed it at Argoth's face. Argoth in the meantime had readied a sphere of magical fire and was ready to let it loose. The stranger looked down at the sphere of fire in Argoth's hand " I now see the futility of this situation" Argoth shruged "as do I."
The stranger looked around. "hmm they wern't exactly watching" a sly grin cracked across his face "so I could just SAY I killed you" Argoth shook his head " you could but they would require evidence" Argoth thinks for a moment "wait here" he runs into the forest and comes bach with a helmet idendical to his except for a large hole that a sword had made half a century earlier. "take this. It should work as an acceptable ruse" The sstranger looks at him "and if it doesn't?" Argoth clenches a fist and opens it a small pouch containing Diamonds, rubys and several other precious gems. "then this should cover the cost."

Hearing the word "Inn" He opened his eyes and looked towards the group that had moved towards the door. I haven't slept in a bed for some time now. Argoth could wait no longer. He had to pay his respects to Aphrael or he feared his soul would be damned. He sheathed Agamemnon and made a beeline for the cathedral in the middle of town. as he was running he spyed a group of people in his path. He drew Argamemnon and used it to pole-vault over them. He landed with a metalic thump and kept running. He reached the cathedral doors and rushed in and knelt at the alter. where he prayed for quite some time. Meanwhile Abriel wandered through a curtain to the side if the alter to see where all the noise was coming from. He saw Argoth praying. The dark knight's armour bathed in moonlight from the window above the alter. "It is nice to see one who is so dedicated to his god. Though the gate guards are getting slightly irritated by your presence" Argoth had now finished praying "hmph. They no not the meaning of tolerance" he said as he stood up. Abriel continued "they have asked me to not let you pray here anymore." Argoth's eyes narrowed "I must pray lest my soul be damned to hell they do not understand the importance of this" Abriel nodded "I know but they were rather forceful the last time they spoke with me. They still believe you are a maelevolant being" Argoth sighed "so you are asking me never to return here as well. After all I have done for the people of this town, saving them from the thieves that live in the woods they still feel I am a menace" Abriel "yes people still cling to old beliefs. There is something I can do for you." Abriel walks through the curtain and returns with a pendant of Aphrael and hands it to him " Take it. It will allow you to pray to Aphrael wherever you may wander." Argoth kneels and accepts the pendant "For three centuries the Priests have let me pray here but you have displayed a new level of acceptance to me. I thank you" Abriel smiled "May Aphrael watch over you Argoth" Argoth rises to his feet and exits the cathedral.
