The group slowly made it out of the abandoned building. Tamakatari grudgingly taking point with Taim trailing behind. A cool breeze ran through the town, giving it a haunted feeling.

"Hm... All of you made it out of there." A voice said from above. Everyone looked up to see a young man relaxing on the roof of a nearby building. "I thought for sure the fire would have done you all in." he said casually, as if they were talking over dinner, "But I guess if you want something done right.." He snapped his fingers and stood up on top of the building. Suddenly, emerging from the shadows and the dark houses came a horde of the theives, all of them armed with weapons and some even with nice armor, probably stolen from other helpless travelers.

Surrounded...

"YESSS!!! Cid said as arrows bounced off his armor. He bisected a man with his burning sword and knocked another into the wall with a blow from his shield. The mans neck snapping from the blow.

Dawn stayed in the middle of the group along with Lynx as they made their way outside. She wouldn't argue with the choice they had made, and seeing as how she wasn't the type to just leave, she supposed that she would just continue along with them.

She came to a quick stop as she heard the man's voice and looked up at him. She swallowed hard as her focus came back down and to the group of thieves that were now surrounding them. "Eh, perhaps.. it WOULD have been better to have stayed in there?"

Lynx calmy turned to Dawn. "I don't think so. Based on the fact that Cid just killed two of them in a second just now, this is probably going to turn into a slaughter..." Lynx did a cat version of a sigh. He had wanted a chance to talk to the leader, but with this group, he wouldn't get that chance.

"Yeah, definately a slaughter, and a good meal afterwards!"

Kalimare then transformed into his lycan form and swiped his claws through several thieves in a row. However, there were many, and they quickly overran Kalimare. But he wasn't about to give up such a large meal, so he then took out his giant sword and swung it, taunting the thieves. Kalimare was quite happy knowing he would get such a large lunch so soon.

Cid ran a thief through as he moved towards the bandit leader. The leader raised a cross bow. Cid blocked the bolt with his shield.

Before Cid could reach the leader, he got attacked by another group of the theives, this time armed with very large, nasty-looking swords. While Cid was distracted, the leader jumped down off of the roof into the building.

Meanwhile, the bandits were begining to surround the rest of the party, now that Cid, their biggest concern for now, was busy with some other group.

"Uhh. Umm..." Cesia pulled out her knives shakily. After seeing Cid so happily slaughter a group of them and now she was expected to kill somebody herself, she really wished she had some battle experience. She swallowed hard and tried to stop her hands from shaking, not wanting to show weakness or any inexperience in battle.

Cid had needed to enter the building the charge the leader.

Through some sick twist of fate, and shimmering figure fell through the ceiling onto Cid.

Ark got himself dusted off while swearing. Then he realized, while he was free, he'd just accidentally fallen through the floor into a melee. Just his flippin' luck today.

He got off the big warrior, and drew his sword. "Right, so very sorry, not to anger you or anything. Sorry for getting the drop on you."

The ranger patted the warrior on the back and said, "I'll...just...be leaving now."

Cid's sword flared red. The fire light reflecting off Cid's eyes. Giving him a frightening appearance with his great helm on, as his eyes appeared to glow red. Cid went back to chasing down the bandit leader.

"Uhm... Cesia... I hate to be the one to bring this up in a situation like this..." Dawn said lowly. "... I've.. never really been one for fighting..." She was a bit down at having to say that. "It never crossed my mind that I'd be in the middle of actual battle... I mean... actually fighting.."

Ark flipped his dagger out, and blocked a high strike, then a side strike with his sword before spinning around and slashing the bandit across the face with his dagger.

Continuing the motion, he ran another through, pulled his sword out, and had a sudden need for profanity.

"Watch out for the sleep drugs!"

OOC: SOrry aboutt he thread thing... Just trying to help...

His eyes narrowed and his hand flew to his back, then he let it fall to the side. No point wasting energy when there were two big killing machines there to do the work for him.

"You should have done it yourself. You're just throwing the lives of your men away."

Then he saw a shimmering figure drop through the ceiling and land on CId, dropping the huge man to the floor. The figure solidified into a man, and the man began backing away from both Cid and the thieves. Kazuki recognized him as the ranger from their group.

In any case, it didn't matter. He was closer to the non-combatants, and the ranger was closer to the knight. That would have to do. Kazuki dashed over to the others and reached inside his gi.

Time to put these to good use.

He started hurling shuriken and kunai at the thieves. Every time a thief tried to flank the group, he hit them in the knee and the throat, dropping them. Soon, they decided to form up behind a guy with a shield and charge Kazuki. It wasn't a tower shield, but it was big enough that Kazuki couldn't target their joints for an instant stop, and they could simply overrun him and get the others.

He grinned. This would be over soon.

He withdrew the scroll he had recently used from his gi and unrolled it, holding the writing towards the oncoming thieves at a downward angle. Chakra flowed into his hands, and he quickly made the three gestures for the ninjutsu.

"Fuukainkai!"

A roaring sheet of flame burst from the scroll, deflecting off the ground belwo the charging bandits... and into the faces and chests of the aggressors.

A bandit with a pouch jumped from a hiding place ready to blow a powder into Cid's face. Only to find himself the victim of Cid's vicious bakhand. The shield knocked tha man into a wall forceing him to inhale his own sleep powder.

Lynx jumped into a nearby tree, and climbed up it. Luckily, the bandits were ignore him mostly, so he jumped off of a high branch, onto an empty roof top. He was decided wheter to see if he could find where the leader went, or watch over the battle.

Ark vaguely wondered for a moment, what were the odds that he would be drugged and captured in the same day that he'd left some meeting, and then run into the people again?

Ark weighed his options. Kill bandits, or go help the psycho.

Definetly go help the psycho. He cut through a few foes as he ran after Cid. As he ran, his dagger fell through his hand. When he leant down to pick it up, his calf fell into the ground. "DAMMIT!" He yanked himself up, and resumed his chase.

Cesia glanced at Dawn, then said lowly, "Then that makes two of us." She gripped her knives tighter, a group of the theives were closing in, <No one to save you. You're going to have to take care of yourself.> Cesia said to herself.
One of the bandits smiled, releasing his putrid breath, "Men," He started barking an order, "Don't kill the women if you don't have to. After the rest of the group is gone we'll... take care of them."
Cesia's heart skipped a few beats, she glared at the theif who had said that, "I would prefer death over whatever you have planned for us." She glanced around, hoping to find someone who could help them, but everyone else was busy with fighting, and she had no clue where the cat had dissappeared to. She gripped her knives and got into a battle stance, <It's now or never...>

(OOC: whew it's hard keeping track of everything that's going on in a battle.)

Ark made a perfect 180. Damn morals. In the grand scheme of things, the warrior could hold his own. He wasn't so sure about the girls.

He charged at them, and one turn and stabbed. It went through him, but completely unintentionally. "Well, this is....awkward." Ark's garbled voice said as he stepped away, getting the blade out.

The bandit who had commanded the rest of them was about to do something, when something came flying at his head. Lynx had jumped off of the building, onto the bandits back. He swore as Lynx dug his claws into his back and head, while the bandit tried to grab the cat.

Cid stopped mid chase. "Continue after the Gangleader I want him taken alive if possible." He told Ark. He returned into the building. He didn't want to lose his troops in his zealotous nature for battle.

He intercepted a blow on his sword, stabbed the guy, then pulled back and slashed the next across the face.

"So, you girls never seen combat or something?" He managed to ask amongst all the fighting.

OOC: Blargh, got pulled away from the comp for a bit, looks like the RP would stay calm for a bit, and suddenly theres 5 pages. Anyway, perfect timing to jump in.

Vace pulled his duel swords and charged his swords, electricity crackling off the blade. "Maybe you should think twice before attacking the ladies," Vace said, and leaped into the bandits, swords slicing and stabing everywhere, shocking and stabbing the bandits. The sudden assault, along with Lynx attacking the leader and Ark showing up as well, made the bandits rethink the women as easy targets and forced them to retreat and regroup.

The bandit Lynx had jumped on had fallen over, but Lynx had gotten off in time before he was crushed. Before the bandit got up, Lynx jumped on his and bite his throat, then ripped it out. He looks up to see the rest of the bandits running, with Ark nearby and Cid coming towards them. Idiots...

Lynx jumped back into a tree, climbed to the top, and jumped onto a roof. He got the leaders scent, and began tracking him down from the rooftops.

OOC: Jad, he didn't jump on the leader of the bandits, he jumped on the bandit threatening Dawn and Cesia. The leader is still running.

Vace sheathed his swords, and said, "If you ladies want to avoid any more trouble from them, you might want to either follow us or get somewhere safe before they return." With that, Vace charged into the building the leader of the bandits had ran into, intent on catching him and stopping this whole battle quickly.

Ark was running with his sword held up by his side. Someone got in his way. Ark parried the attack to his side, and cut viciously across the man's throat, leaving a wash of blood on the wall.

He stepped over the body, thought he saw the man ahead, and started running again despite the burning in his legs.

"Take one of the leaders if possible." Cid ordered Vace. "If I find that the bandit you killed had knowledge we need in finding the princess I will skin you personally." Cid told Lynx as he then went to check on the women. "I apologize. I figured you both had some form of combat experience."

Vace followed the trail of destruction Ark left in his wake, and soon spotted Ark chasing the man. He put on an extra sprint of speed to try to catch up to them, having a feeling the leader would have a nasty trick up his sleeve.

Ark skidded to a stop. There were 5 different hallways that he could see. Granted, he was in a courtyard, but that was a LOT of hiding spots.

Thid saw an escape opportunity during the confusion of combat. He had ran at the first confrontation and was now making his way through a series of hallways. Thid smiled to himself, perhaps my luck is finaly coming around.

Suddenly, as Thid rounds the corner, he runs right into someone. The impact knocks the other man down and stagers Thid. I guess lead boots have their good points.

The other man got back on his feet and Thid saw that it was none other than the bandit leader, a very pissed looking bandit leader who was drawing his sword.

Can't run, no weapon...hell i couldn't fight with a weapon. Ah what the hell, it's worth a shot.

Thid threw his arms up in the air, "I surrender!" Being an experienced swordsman, the bandit leader watched the hands fly into the air, just incase the hid any weapons. I got you now.

With the leader's attention on his hands, Thid's feet were free. And what does a small coward do when cornered by a superior opponent? That's right, Thid's lead clad boot sailed in a beautiful arc, right into the bandit leader's crotch.

A sickening crunch reverberated throughout the hall.

The leader still stood, with a not so happy look on his face.

Thid: "Wha?"

Bandit Leader: "It's called a cup, i fight on a regular basis, you don't think i'd have one?"

Thid: "Ah @$%!"

Thid begins to run away, but is unable to lose the bandit leader because of the loud noise his boots make when he's running. He's not catching up to me, perhaps i did do some damage. Thid feels a cuting wind across his back and a slight sting of pain, crap, must run faster!

Kalimare's sword crushed several bandits into a wall, cracking their ribcages and ripping their lungs and other internal organs. Kalimare scoffed.

"Damn, I wanted to pick the meat from the bones...now it's all over the place."

Kalimare looked around at the mess that was the bandits that tried to overrun him. Kalimare sheathed his sword and returned to his normal orc form, then picked up some of the bones.

"Damn, such a good meal gone to waste due to their lousy fighting skills."

Kalimare walked over to Celia and Dawn, who seemed to have had their first fighting experience by the look of things.

"You two okay?"

((OOC: goodnight, everyone. school tomorrow, so less time for me to be able to post. oh, and if their are bandits near my character, then just assume that he took care of them.))

Vace was right behind Ark and heard the cat say to duck, leaping down and avoiding the flying bandit. He heard cursing, and jumped back up, running down a hall towards the sound he heard, confronting the leader and Thid. "Your mine, bandit," Vace said, drawing his claymore and charging it with electricity.

Ark jumped to his feet and sprinted into the left hallway. A bandit came at him, but Ark beat the slash aside, spun behind him, and drew his head back before slitting the throat with his sword. He dropped the corpse, and kept running, before skidding to a stop right as Thid ran by him.

"It would seem that I was lied to about you level of competance Cesia." Cid said as he examined the street. "Ah this way." He said and led them to a small stone building. "I think this should be where we set up our basecamp now." The building had an old sign marking it as an outfitter shop.

Thid sighed with relief when Vace and Ark arrived on the scene. Yikes, i thought i was done for back there. But now with these two distracting the leader, I can make my escape.

But as Thid continued down the hall, his vision started to haze, and darken. What the? I'm not feeling so good. He couldn't have had a poisoned blade, i didn't think i got hit that bad. *reaches behind his back, and feels a good sized gash.*

Thid falls against a near wall. I guess i could just rest here for a bit, get up my strength and what not. Whew, it's hot in here.

Kal attacked first. The leader was quite good. Very good. He beat aside the attack, throwing it wide and spun so his back was to the cheif. In the same motion, he pulled his dagger and stuck it into the guy's leg before pulling it out and sticking it into his armpit.

He pulled it out again and spun away. The cheif snickered despite the fact he was down an arm and tossed the sword to his other hand.

"Dude? Some help might be needed."

Despite his injuries, the leader still weilded his sword with incredible skill. Vace charged him, bringing his claymore down in an overhead slash, but the bandit brought his sword around and brought it to the side. Vace took advantage of the action to kick the leader in the chest, a strong blow that knocked him back and made him lose his sword. As vace advanced to finish him, the leader suddenly reached into his shirt and threw a flurry of daggers, which Vace leapt out of the way of. After this, he had run out of tricks, and Vace walked up to him and punched his lights out. "There, problem solved," He said tiredly.

Ark sheathed went and wiped the blood off his sword on the leader before sheathing it. Still feeling a bit woozy, he unclipped the sheath, and leaned on it.

He was panting, and had a cut across his cheek that had blood mingling with his sweat. "I...hate...runs..."

Lynx jumped down from the window ledge, and approached Vace. "You carry the bandit, Ark, and Thid, who is down the hall, outside. Wait for the mage." After that, Lynx leaped out the window, and onto a roof.

He jumped from roof to roof, until he found Cid and the rest. Jumping down infront of Cid, he told them all what happened. "The leader is unconcoius, but Thid is poisoned most likely. His heartbeat slowed and he's breathing heavy. Ark got hit, so he is too. So mage, follow me, you need to go heal them. And someone else come as a gaurd. Some bandits might still be prowling around." Lynx waited for Dawn and whoever else to get ready.

Ark checked his side. He'd managed to keep most of the blade from hitting him, but he'd taken a gash, He clamped his hand back over it.

While he wasn't poisoned, the blood loss and the run had worn him down. "You got some rags or something I can use?" he managed to pant out.

Taim had been standing against the wall, being a smart thief and making himself invisible. Now he headed back into the building, seeing the perfect chance to escape. They wouldn't be back for a while, and this /was/ a thieve's den. There had to be /something/ of monetary value in here.

Vace smiled, "Looks like someone should work on their sword skills a bit," He said, reaching for some rags he had for just this purpose, when he suddenly realized his left arm didn't want to move. He looked at it and saw one of the bandit leaders knives sticking out of it, neatly enbedded in the shoulder. "Now that's going to sting when the adrenaline wears off," Vase mumbled, getting the rags out with his other arm and giving half of them to Ark, and preparing to use the other half on himself.

Cesia sat in the room that Cid had lead them to, pretty much alone. "Man, I really screwed that one up..." She mentally kicked herself for being so unprepared. Sure, she had taken several self-defence classes, but just training was nothing compaired to real battle, she discovered. She looked down at the knives, "What's the point in having a weapon if you can't even defend yourself." She said angrily. <Whatever happens... I'm not going to let myself be so helpless again...> She vowed.

"Don't be so hard on yourself... At least you could have defended yourself if you really needed to." Dawn walked over and put her hand on Cesia's shoulder. "At least you have weapons. I don't even have that really."

She turned around to hearing someone come in, and found that it was Lynx. After hearing of all that had happened, she started to follow the cat out. "I may not be able to fight like the others, but in my own way I'm useful... Just like you. If you hadn't have warned us about the fire, who knows what might have happened."

Dawn stopped, noticing a slightly impatience stance coming from the cat. "Right... I'm gonna go and see if I can't help the others now." She left the small room, letting Lynx lead her back to where the rest of the group was.

Kalimare simply grunted at the fact that he was ignored, but decided to let it go considering that it would be unfair for him to do anything to harm them. He realized what he was thinking and then pushed the thought from his mind. Kalimare then decided to change the thoughts to something more useful. He walked next to Cesia.

Cesia looked up at Kalimare, "Really? You'd help me?" She smiled, then frowned a bit, "I've already had training with weapons, so I know how to handle myself in basic combat, but it was just... the inexperience with real combat that slowed me down... So I don't know if training could help me deal with that any better." She smiled wistfully.

Lynx again did the cat version of a sigh. He walked over to Cesia and rubbed against her leg, to get her attention. "How about this. You come with me and Dawn to go heal the wounded. I'm not going outside without someone with a weapon. It will be three bandits at most if we get attacked, you should be able to stay calm in that situation."

Cesia looked down at the cat and stroked his back once, out of habit, "Oh alright. I'll make myself useful somehow." She got up and grabbed her knives as she, Dawn, who was waiting for them at the doorway, and Lynx headed out to find the wounded party members, Lynx leading them, since it seemed he knew a little more about their surroundings than Dawn or Cesia did.

"So where and who are the wounded ones?"

Lynx lead the three through the town, to where the injured were. He answered questions as they walked. "Thid is poisoned, Ark may be poisoned, Vace had a knife in his arm, and the bandit leader is unconcoius with two stab wounds."

OOC: Like Master, we have also forgotten about Raiden... Let's just say he got excited during the fight and chased some bandits who ran... And Ghost... Maybe we should run into her... And Dante... Lets say she is just sitting in that room Cid's in... Ok?

(OOC: Yeah, I don't want to leave anyone too far behind. I think Raiden should be on later tonight, so we'll just say he did some butt-whoopin' on his own and is off by himself for the moment, thinking about how stupid the rest of the group is. And I don't know about the chapter yet. But how about, for right now, we'll keep it going kinda slow so we can catch up those who are behind. We can still do stuff around our make-shift base, but we won't move out on the way to the wizard until at least maybe a little later tonight or tomorrow.)

Cesia, Lynx, and Dawn first came upon Arc, who was well enough to walk, but somehow had his leg stuck in the floor. "Uh, Need some help?" Cesia said as she helped him out of the floor. "So you're Arc. Why were you here in the bandit's hideout?" All Cesia knew was during the battle, all of the sudden Arc was there and he was obviously more on their side that the theives.

Ark blew out some air, then grunted. His shimmering leg came out.

He brushed himself off and said, "Well, after I left the meeting and was taking a shortcut to my normal territory these bandits ambushed and drugged me for my phasing ability."

He patted Cesia on the back, except that his hand went through. "I managed to go through my bonds, through to door, systematically climb out of the dungeons using a deck of cards and a toothpick, before finding my stuff. Then I accidentally fell through the floor."

"I got some extra rags, calm down kitty," Vace said, bandageing the bandit leaders wounds until dawn could arrive. He also bandaged Thid up, but said, "I can only do so much with a bandage, the poison can only be removed by a Dawn. I think that knife that hit me was poisoned too, but my wound isn't as bad so I'm still okay for now."

OOC: It would still be worse for you. He had the blade just cut him, only some poison would come off. The blade was in your arm for a bit, so you would have gotten more poison... Or, the knife wasn't poisoned.

Vace said, "Meh, its not that bad actually, after I pulled it out it hurt, but now that it's bandaged it's not so bad." Vace went to sit down and rest because he was getting slightly dizzy, and winced from his arm. "I've been through worse than this anyway, I'll be fine," Vace said.

"Eh..." She heard Arc give one set of suggestions, then Lynx give his. She leaned slightly to look down the hall, seeing Thid laid out and hardly moving. "I think the kitty's right..." Dawn looked back at Arc. "I promise I'll be back to help you, but I need to help him first."

She rushed down the hallway, kneeling down beside Thid and taking a moment to access all that was wrong with him. "Hmm... " She shut her eyes, beginning to focus.

(OOC: Thank you SO MUCH for waiting! God, this is going to be like "Hunters of the Damned" all over again. I'll try to catch up, just don't get pissed off if I do something wrong. I'm going to need a good post to make up for this.)

There were yells in the clearing of a forest. Dead people littered the ground, and there were still 4 men standing. One of them was Tamakatari, the other three were some of the guards he had chased after from the theive's hideout. Tamakatari was swinging around his two katanas, and blocking the attacks from the guards. One of the guards put his sword down too low, and Tamakatari ran him through for it. He did a flying back flip over one of the other guards, and pierced his back with the last katana. He now had no weapons to use. The last guard charged, and Tamakatari leaped up and plucked a leaf from a nearby tree. He tossed the leaf, which was now made of sharpened metal, and it stuck in the man's throat. Tamakatari stood alone. He decided to take count of the dead.

"..13, 14, 15, 16. 16 dead people. Who needs that group, I'm good enough." Several of the bodies still had swords stuck in their backs. He decided to just leave them there. He checked his injuries. His left hand was cut, and his leg had a nice sized gash in it. It wasn't infected or poisoned, but it did hurt like hell. He picked up a stick on the ground, and changed it into a walking cane. He left the clearing to try and find the group.

He had just left the forest, and he looked up at the moon. Staring at the moon got him back to thinking.

"I don't need that group, do I? I work better alone. I wouldn't have been in that trap, if it hadn't been for those bleedin' hearts. I could make it through that dark wizard's castle on my own. Those other people will just slow me down. I don't need any help saving MY angel."

Then he looked at himself. He was wounded, and that was just from fighting 16 guys. Trying to break into the castle of a dark wizard would be a hell of a lot harder, and being able to make weapons won't get him very far. Whether he liked it or not, he needed that group.

"Well, just because I need the group, doesn't mean I have to be part of it. We'll break into the castle, use the group, and when we find my angel, I'll take her back by myself."

Making his way through the town, he finally found them in a building. He entered quietly, and took a seat.

I may have a place for you in my regiment after this business is done. Our healer is away so you have two choices, wait for her to come back, or try to make due with my first aid skill."

Tamakatari pulled a roll of bandages from his cloak, and wrapped up his injuries.

"I don't trust anyone touching my wounds. They'll heal eventually. And you can take your regiment and shove it up your ass. I work alone."

Tamakatari put his bandages away, and laid back in his seat.

"That seems to be a common problem with this group." Cid said. "I'm getting to old for this Maverick shit." He relaxed in a wooden chair in the store. He picked up a cloth wrapped bit of hard tac. He tossed it Tamakatari's way. He picked up one for him too. "Eat it, you'll need your strength. Do you realize i've been in the military of this nation since I was seven years old. I started out as a page to the king when he was still a prince."

Tamakatari popped the last bit of tac into his mouth.

"I'm glad to say, I most likely won't feel the same way. I've got a thing about people in the military. Take away their soldiers, and their big fancy weapons and titles, and you'll simply find a man trying to compensate for something. It's the people who are alone, and still live, that are truly strong."

Tamakatari took out two small sticks in his cloak. One stick he turned into a small knife, the other he kept normal. He started to whittle at the stick.

"In fact, under normal circumstances, I wouldn't even be in this group. But, I have my reasons."

Your reasons however are substanially less pure. I'm going to be straight up here." Cid leaned forward. "Do you hnestly think you have a chance with the princess?"

When Cid finished his sentence, he felt a small wind by his head. He turned, and saw the whittle knife sticking in the wall, only an inch away from his head. Tamakatari's arm was still stretched out from when he had tossed the knife, and when he raised his head his eyes were dark.

"Honestly, I don't know. And I also don't think that it's any of your business. But, I've never had to worry about this before. Yes, I care about the princess. But whether she feels the same about me or not, I would gladly risk my life to save my angel. And anyone that tries to stop me, will die. Simple as that."

Tamakatari took out a new stick, and made a new knife. He left his old one still sticking in the wall.

Vace noticed Lynx disdainfully sniffing the leader of the bandits. "Seems the're much better at making traps against the innocent then putting up a straight fight against trained warriors. They really were only a band of two-bit thieves and thugs after all. Hmm, does anyone know what happened to the guy that led us here?" Vace said aloud, commenting and talking as his dizziness got worse and better, making the room spin at different rates by the second. <Ugh, good thing I sat down or I wouldn't be able to stand straight by now> he thought wearily.
