Mutation

It's the year 2005 and a special branch of the goverment has found a way to cause people to mutate. These mutations can be very subtle or very dramatic, from people unlocking certain powers of the mind (such as telepathy or telekinesis) to people mutating into lizards. The process cannot be controlled and any beneficial mutations are purely random luck. However a large group of volunteers were experimented on to learn more about the process.

two volunteers mutated into the same kind of mutations. Blood drinkers. They had unnatural speed and strength and could only feed on blood. Their intelligence suffered as a result of this change but not enough to stop them from escaping. And breeding.

Now there are many blood drinkers spread throughout the united kingdom and they are steadily spreading to other countries. Quickly those volunteers with useful mutations were recruited. They became: Task force X. Trained to destroy any and all blood drinkers they encounter, those in the task force are determined to complete their mission. But even though their numbers grow steadily the blood drinkers are growing much faster. The legend has become reality.....the vampires are amongst us.

Walking through the doors to the mutant (or trackers as they came to be called) headquarters William waved to the guard at the door and pressed his hand against the fingerprint scanner. A few seconds later the elevator at the other side of the room slid open silently, the elevator music seeping across the room. As he moved into the lift the doors closed behind him and he was taken to the bottom floor, which happened to be an abandoned bomb shelter.

Stepping out of the lift he headed down the hall and into the meeting room. The Head of the mutant squad was standing in front of the projector and William automatically returned the salute. "Take a seat captain William" the director called crisply and soon William found himself sitting aline waiting on the others while the director discussed something in urgent tones to someone on the phone.

The others shouldn't be long and so The captain of the Trackers leaned back and relaxed.

Derrick ran down the hall and quickly said his name, put his thumb in the scanner, and got in the elevator. <I hope I'm not late, something big is going to happen this meeting, I'm sure of it.> Derrick thought, silently suffering the bland elevator music. He contemplated burning it out so he could ride in silence, when the doors opened again, leading into the underground shelter of the Trackers. He walked down the halls, coming to the meeting room, and opened them, walking into an almost empty room, except for William, the team captain, and the Head of the entire Tracker program, who was busy on the phone. <Well, looks like I could have gotten that extra bit of sleep.> Derrick thought, but he smiled and said to William, "It's a good day to be alive, cap'n. Clean recycled bunker air, nice drab walls to look at, and the chance for some action!" With that, Derrick sat in his seat and contented himself by throwing a small ball of fire back and forth in his hands.

After a few minutes, there was the sound of the doors sliding open down the hallway, and slow footsteps that grew closer and closer to the entrance of the meeting room. Finally the doors open, and in walked a young woman, her brown hair pulled up messily into a low bun. In fact, it looked as though she had just woken up by the fact that she was wearing a pair of plaid pajama bottoms. Slowly Amelia walked over to where the two men were currently seated, letting out a large yawn and stretching out her arms a bit. As she sat down, she glanced around groggily, seeing the Head of Trackers on the phone of course. "Sorry..." She yawned again. "...just got up. Any news as to what's up yet?"

Again, the doors flew open, this time to reaveal... something. It was human, that was for sure, but he ws completely covered in a blue robe, wearing a hat that completely blocked his face. He looked down so that the brim did a better job of blocking his face. He walked in and found a nice comfortable piece of wall to lean on, not saying a word to any of the others in the room. Words just got in the way, they weren't important.

The doors hissed opened announcing the arrival of a new person. Jade walked in casually. Her silver hair hung in whisps around her yellow eyes. "Hello, I'm Jade. I believe I was supposed to report here," she said as she sat down.

Amelia glanced up in her half awake state to see 43 walk in, not even bothering to greet him. There was really no point when he wasn't going to even speak back to her.

Sometimes I really wonder what his problem is. She thought to herself as she reached up to cover another yawn.

In fact, she didn't really seem to fit in very well with the men, mostly for the fact that she was a bit too laid back sometimes. Now probably wouldn't be any exception. She would probably get some kind of comment about the fact that she came to the HQ in her pjs. It wasn't like she cared really, she had just woke up, and if she was late for this sudden meeting, she get just as much of a scolding. She didn't even bother thinking about it that much now.

It was just as she was getting really comfortable in her chair, the door opened once again, but instead of seeing a familiar face, there was a new one. She quirked a brow as she brought herself to sit up straight, staring at the new girl coming and taking a seat in a chair. "Eh... how long has she been here?" She said in a low whisper, wondering if Captain William or Derrick perhaps knew more about this 'Jade' than she did.

Glancing at Jade and realizing she was new William got to his feet and walked over to her "Hello.....I'm captain William......I'm sorry but I need to see your Tracker ID card."

Suddenly there was an audible click behind him as the Director put down the phone and then he said "It's okay captain she's one of us" before picking up some papers from his desk and walking over to the projector.

Pressing a button on the wall caused the lights to go out and the projector to start up. "This mountain you see before you has been discovered to be a vampire base of operations. Some of their best minds, and a few captured human scientists are working towards improving the genetic code of the vampires and turning them into a race of unstoppable hunters." the Director informed them with worry etched into his face.

He looked at them and sighed "Unfortunatly we know nothing of the defenses inside the mountain and it is to large to simply bomb through. We have decided to risk all simply to stop them from acheiving their goal. We are sending you in blind, you will have a backup paratrooper squad of a hundred men flying overhead so if you get in trouble there will be a chance you can get out".

"I'm sorry but this could turn out to be a suicide mission.....any questions?" when none were forthcoming he turned and headed out of the room, concern etched on his face. As he left the room he shouted "There is a plane waiting....captain William get your squad moving."

Rising wearily to his feet he looked at the shocked expressions of the others and said "Ok guys.....lets get going".

Amelia's attention was drew away from the new girl as the lights dimmed. She once again got comfortable in the chair as she watched the projection screen flicker on and begin playing.

An unsettled look began to settle on her face as she listened to the details of this mission. You've got to be kidding me. I wake up to a call and this is the sort of thing they want us to try and do? Of course she had no right to really think that way, after I, SHE had been the one to decide to join this group. She knew this type of thing would eventually come with this job.

She sat back up straight as the director left the room, looking to William with concern. "We have to go right now?" She stood now, glancing over to Jade. "I mean..." She tried to take on a serious tone than a whiny one. "...shouldn't we wait on the others to get here? It might make it a bit less... ya know... suicidal."

And then suddenly the doors once again flew open. A woman draped in a white cape, covering all her skin exept the face, moved in.
She went to a chair, pulled it out, and said: "I have arrived."

Amelia turned and gave a sideways glance to the woman as she walked in. "A bit late today aren't we Janet?" She folded her arms over her chest. "You kind of just missed the whole meeting."

She sat back down for a moment and drew in a deep breath, mentally scolding herself. Normally she wasn't this snappy towards anyone else. The whole idea of going in on a suicide mission was just bothering with her head.

"Sorry Janet. Just...a little stressed at the moment."

<Great, my first day on the job and not only are people suspiscious of me, but we get a suicidal mission>. "Um question, just how many vampires are we looking to dust in this base?"

Janet turned her head thowards Amelia: "I know I'm late. It does not bother me. I'll find out on the plaintrip, what you were talking about."

[Forever Zero]

"What you missed, Miss Janet, was that we are all about to die in a very spectacular fashion." Derrick said with a wink. The ball of fire puffed out and he stood up, saying, "Does it really matter how man there are? It's still our mission to wipe them out either way, and suicide mission or not, I'm willing to accept it. If we don't stop them now and they perfect their DNA modifications, what chance will we stand in the future against them? Count me in regardless of how difficult it will be." Derrick said with a smile on his face.

"Allright," Janet said, stood up and went to William: "Let's move."

[LilWhiteMage]

She let out a quiet little sigh. "You're right... If we don't go and try to stop them, and they DO end up perfecting themselves, there'll be no one to stand in their way." Though she still felt a little uncomfortable with the fact she might die, if she didn't at least go and try, it was pretty much sentencing everyone else in the world to death.

"I'm in. Let's just go and get this done, hopefully without the whole getting ourselves killed part."

[Exploding Ostrich]

Once again, the doors clang open. A man in a dull-green suil walks in.

"Cripes, I missed everything, didn't I? Name's Pickman. Graham Pickman. What did I miss out on?"

43 watched the movie on the screen and heard about the sucidal mission they were going on. Nodding after the commander had left, he had made for the door, heading for the plane. He stopped and looked at the group he was about to be teamed with, not saying a word. This... should be... but he didn't have the right adjective to finish his thought. He just shook his hed and turned to finish his trip out the door and into the plane.

Derrick walked out onto the plane and got a good window seat near the front. He sat down and thought about the mission ahead. He seemed to have an always optimistic face, but down deeper he was a deep thinker wondering about the impact this mission could have, and if any cost was worth it to put an end to the vampire threat.

Graham took a seat in the back of the plane, and started planning. He would need to cue up a powerful emotion and force it into the bloodsuckers to keep his teammates safe. The only thing that would do was pure, unadultered fear.

Then again, he thought as he pulled a copy of The Dunwich Horror from his bag, a little bit of Lovecraftian despair would probably be good for the mix.

Seeing as how Amelia was in her sleeping clothes, she went off to one of the side rooms and changed into a set of clothes that she always kept at the HQ should this sort of situation arise.

She came onto the plane after a few minutes, now wearing a pair of jeans with a new shirt. Carrying in one arm, she had her jacket, which she put back on when she arrived at her seat in the middle of the plane.

Getting settled in, she reached back and pulled down her hair, pulling it back up much neater than she had to begin with. Maybe I can get a little nap in before we get there...

Jade boarded the plane and sat down in one of the cushy seats. She could sense the tension onboard. <I don't blame them, I definitely don't want to die on during my first mission.> She proceeded to look out of the window at the landscape, trying to shake the tension she felt.

"Ok guys I just want to point out that this mission MAY turn out to be a suicide mission but I am going to do my very best to come out of this alive.." William said seriously once he had boarded the plane "and I suppose I should try and keep you alive too" he finished with a grin. Then his expression turned serious.

"Weapons and ammunition are in the rear of the plane....We can't afford to rely solely on out powers on this mission" he said holding up his hands to cut of any protests "we don't know how many we are going up against and we may tire oursleves out while destroying them. And you know as well as me that sustained use of your powers can be draining."

Finished with his little lecture William weaded up to the front of the plane and told the pilot they were ready to leave. As the plane took of he sat in his seat next to the others and forced himself to relax. who knows how long it will be before I get another chance to rest?

Suddenly the intercom buzzed and the pilots voice could be heard saying 15 minuites to destination. Gear up and get ready to drop. Sighing William stood up and headed to the back of the plane and put on his jump suit. Grabbing a pistol, a knife and an assault rifle he headed back to the centre of the plane and opened the jump doors. "BE READY GUYS AND GIRLS" he shouted over the wind "It's allmost time"

Meanwhile, Janet had also boarded the plane. She sat down next do Jade. She turned her head to her and said: "Dont' worry, this mission will be a succes. And yes, the tension aboard this ship is heavy."

Jade cocked an eyebrow. "What are you, a psychi...wait never mind." Just then, William told them all to go to the back of the plane to suit up. Jade turned to Janet while loading a rifle and said, "so how did you come to join the team?"

[Forever Zero]

Derrick went to the back of the plane and started looking through the weapons. After a while he said, "Aww, no flamethrowers? Your holding out on us cheif. Guess I'll just have to make do with what I got." He grabbed a good sized assault rifle right off the top, and grabbed plenty of ammo. He grabbed some grenades from multiple bins, deciding he could figure out what they were when he needed them. He grabbed a pair of pistols to finish off and went back to his seat, armed to the teeth and ready for battle.

Janet quikly replied (to Jade) : "Not psichyc, just a quick learner. I came to this team in hopes of something interresting. See, when I joined, I had just finished high scool. I had the mutation, that made me smarter and I did not see a reason for higher studies, like a collage, because I knew all I wanted in a very small time. Now I have studied all I wanted to. If I ever quit this thing, I'll get a doctors degree in something and become a scientist or lawyer."
Then she went into the back of the plane and took 3 knives. She then allso went back to the seat.

Graham wasn't surprised by the massive arsenal some of the team had chosen to bring, but...

"Are you sure you can make it through this with just three knives?"

Not waiting for the woman's response, he grabbed half a dozen large pistols and a sniper rifle from the munitions heap, along with a knife and plenty of spare rounds.

I hope she knows what she's doing. Without a mutation with combat purposes, going in without guns is like suicide.

At least with the kind of weapons I'm carrying, I can afford to head down without that bag of books. It's heavier than it ought to be.

Jade inspected the weapons in front of her. "Hmmmm...I was never partial to guns, but this is a special occasion." She picked up an assault rifle, a smaller pistol and a large sword. "Ooh, now this is something I can use."

[LilWhiteMage]

Amelia opened her eyes as the announcement came that they were nearing their target. "Welp, time to go." She got up from her seat and made her way to the back, standing beside Jade as she began to pick her own small arsenal of weapons. "Funny, huh? Who'd figure your first mission we be this... challenging?"

She picked out a couple of pistols and rifles, grabbing a load of extra rounds to go with them all. "I guess it could be worse..."

"ok guys were in the drop zone" William shouted "go! I'll jump last". He slammed the button to the side of the wall and the jump rope slid out saying "hook up your shute and jump"

He took a deep breath. Heh... weapons... pathetic. Do they really think they will have the power to stop those things? Looks like I'm going to do a little more work than I wanted to... He reached under he robe and put a grip on the dagger that he always had with him, besides... this is all I really need...

After that, he walked to the end of the plane and grabbed a parachute. Just incase...Looking out the window, the wind blew on him, his robe clinging to him, revealing some of his features. He looked to be an average built man, but that was the only thing they got before he lunged out of the plane. And we have to fall out of the plane to reach the destination? He sighed.

Upon making sure her weapons were secure on her body, she grabbed a parachute and strapped in on, only getting a passing glance as 43 jumped out the door. "I hate hieghts....." She murmured to herself as she forced herself closer to the open doorway.

Hesitantly she strapped the pullstring of her chute to the rope and shut her eyes tightly. "Why couldn't we just find a nice place to land and just walk?" She asked herself as she clenched her eyes shut tightly and leapt out of the door.

Derrick set up his drawstring and parachute, got to the edge, and yelled, "Geronimo!" as he jumped.

Graham just strapped on his parachute and leapt.

Three. Two. One. PULL.

Jade strapped on a parachute and approached the open door. "I love this!" She jumped out gracefully, pulled the ripcord, and desended to the ground.

Derrick landed with a crash, plowing through branches and getting stuck in a tree. Other than some scratches and bruises, he was fine. He grumbled about a bad jumping spot, then used his power to burn off everything holding him in the tree. He fell to the ground with another crash, then puffed out all the minor fires he had started. Finally he took off his jumping gear and said, "Ahh, yes, another 10 point classic landing. Can't we just drive next time?"

Closing his eyes tightly and going pale with fear William hooked up to the line and threw himself out the door. He kept his eyes closed until he finally hit the ground. Looking around he saw the others untangling themselves a few feet away and unhooked himself quickly.

While the others were untangling themsleves he quickly scouted the area. A few minuites later he was back and said "guys...there's no sign of any hostiles at the moment but we know vampires can travel during the day as long as they wear protective eyewear so I want everyone to be on their gaurd.

A couple of hundred yards to the right of their position the forest started and a few miles into the forest was the mountain that was their destination. " okay lets head out" he said "Oh and Derrick....I probably don't need to say this but...it's a forest okay? so no fires, you might lose control if it grows too quick."

He turned and took point position and called back "any volunteers to travel point? I want derrick bringing up our rear and 2 on point". He then turned and started heading towards the forest.

"Hey, wait for me." Came from above, as suddenly, Janet fell down. She landed perfectly, not even getting tangeled: "I had to studdy the use of parachutes"
When she had finished the landing, she said: "Shouldent we be using some camoflage."

OOC: Sorry I didn't wright, I had a nap, that took me 4 hours. Afore that, I tried to wright, but the CP crashed and I got bored.

"I hate this!!!" Amelia wailed as she fell for a bit before the chute opened. Slowly she opened her eyes, send the forest below her coming faster.

"Holy ..." Before she could finish her cursing, she fell into the top of a tree, getting tangled up and hanging upside down. "I swear... I'm never EVER doing this again...."

Pulling the knife from her jacket, she cut herself free, only to fall the few extra feet to the ground. Whincing as she got up, she replaced the knife and rejoined the rest of the group.

Jade was falling quickly. She ogt tangled in a tree, but managed to get free and land on her feet (partially because of her powers). "I'll take point if you want. I can sense them coming so I can give you all a heads up."

OOC: I just realized that we never really told each other what our powers were. I guess people wanted to keep them a surprise or something. But since my character will probably be using hers soon, I'll let you know what they are. If any of you have seen mutant X, then you'd know what a Feral is. My character has animal dna in her, mostly feline. She has great agility and above average strength (but she is no tank that's for sure). She can also sense movements around her. She also tends to get a bit...ahem...carried away in fights.

OOC: I thought we said our powers in the sign up...

Derrick said, "Aww, you can trust me not to abuse my power, I swear that last forest fire was NOT my fault!" After saying this, Derrick headed to the back of the line to bring up the rear against any threats.

"Sure Derrick..." She smirked playfully despite what they were heading towards. Turning around to face him, she put her arms behind her back. "Just like you 'didn't' set that fire in the kitchen back at HQ." She said in a teasing voice as she began to walk backwards.

[Forever Zero]

"I swear that wasn't my fault, and there was no way the reason could have been because our fearless leader had set up the menu for that night, *cough* excuse me," Derrick said, chuckling about that night and disguising it as a cough.

[MC43]

43 sighed after landing on the ground, "You were just lucky that I was there to ice up your fire there, shumck." He then decided to walk up ahead of the group. "And in case anyone is wondering, I'm taking point."

[LilWhiteMage]

She laughed for a moment, only stopping as 43 landed and put in his two bits worth. "Aw come on, lighten up." She turned around quickly on her heel, almost tripping up as she did so, but swiftly regained her balance before she could fall flat on her face.

As he started towards the front of the group, Amelia spoke up again. "Hey, I thought new girl said she was gonna... take..." She forced a sigh out then grumbled the rest of her sentence.

"...point... stupid, no fun grump..."

[batgirl]

"Hey, if he wants point, he can have it." Turning to 43 she said, "enjoy taking point human shield," while grinning, showing off her fangs. "Put me where you want me. As long as I get to bash heads, I'm happy."

"Keep walking. It's no sense to make fun of each others now. We look out like we are going to have a picknic." Janet said as she walked in the middle: "I did bring a box of cookies though."

[Forever Zero]

Derrick said with a smile, "A picnic might be nice, it's a sunny day with a nice breeze, and were in the middle of a forest. I'll set up the roasted marshmellows, and old grumpy robes up there can bring the ice cream."

"Hahahaha" Janet laughed, as they walked towards the cold looking mountain: "Here, have a cookie," she replied giving everyone a cookie.

[LilWhiteMage]

"Alright! Cookies! This mission is already a lot better than its been" She took her cookie and quickly scarfed it, she apparently hadn't eaten all day today. "Say Janet" She said, mouth still half full with cookie. "Can I have Grumpy's cookie since he'll probably just toss it to the ground anyway?"

"Uh, I dont know. Yes." Janet replied after looking at the wizardly man.
"I wonder how long it will take us till we get there," Janet pondered.

[MC43]

He sighed. You have got to be kidding me... He choose to ignore anyone who would talk to him throughout the remainder of the mission. However, he turned to Jade, "If I remember correctly, I thought he said that he wanted two people at point? So... would you care to join me... as human shield... as you called it?"

[Exploding Ostrich]

"For God's sake, people," Graham lectured. "Might I remind you that if we bicker too loudly we won't hear the vampires when they come sneaking up behind us."

He unstrapped his rifle and began scanning the surroundings through the scope. Being ambushed by a horde of bloodsuckers was definitely not on his To-Do list.

[Forever Zero]

"Well, someone's afraid of the big, bad bloodsuckers, eh?" Derrick joked, but he was keeping a careful watch behind the group despite his attitude, and he was reasonably sure that they couldn't turn invisable, so he felt he would catch any coming from the back.

Jade took her position next to 43 wihtout hesitation. She was more preoccupied with her senses being on fire. There was movement all around them, most of it in fron of them. She turned to 43, her eyes narrowed, cold and focused. "Be prepared, we are not alone. They're all around us."

Janet´put her hand back inside her robe and silently took hold of her knives: "Nothing to worry about, let's get a move on." she said and started walking in a very casual way.

William was walking pretty much to the fore and trying by his own silence to give the others the hint. He knew they were trying to releive tension by talking but they were attracting every hostile between them and the target. He had allready caught a glimpse of a few sneaking around them.

Suddenly he lost his temper and spun to face the group and growled "will you guys just shu the f........" and at that moment vampires exploded from the trees all around them and came charging towards them. And they were armed.

"look out!!" he shouted desperately as he fired the assault rifle in short bursts at their attackers. The team was well trained and quickly formed a circle around 43 Derrick and William and lay down suppressing fire to give them time to use their powers. once they had evened the odds a bit things would become more disorganized, as in a melee.

Dropping his gun to the ground william closed his eyes and focused on bringing his powers to the fore. When he opened them his eyes were pure white. "attack" he screamed as he unleashed his powers, sending bolts of electricity towards several groups of vampires. When the electricity hit them they exploded into flames and went flying in several directions.

"I knew it! Take this." Janet yelled and slung a knife at the nearest vampires heart.

[batgirl]

"Attack? Now we're talkin." Jade eyes glowed yellow as she leapt in the air.She used her legs to push of a tree while unsheathing her sword. The force of her push sent her hurtling at a pack of vampires. She tore right through them, slicing as she went, and then flipped over, sword raised and ready to attack again.

[Batman]

As the battle waged outside the base,there was a room hidden behind a bookshelf, unknown even to the vampires,a handsome young man with blue eyes and blonde hair laid dormant inside a metal coffin,with a small window that showed his face and the cryogenic gases that kept him in suspended animation.In the small room there was not much in there besides a computer and a metal chair that was somehow stuck to the coffin.Who he is and who's side he is on will be revealed in due time.

Amelia was quite a bit startled to say the least when the attack first started, only seeing a group of the vampires jumping out at her with just enough time for her to reach back and grab one of the rifles and begin firing.

After the initial shock, she became a lot more focused than before. However, she had already gone through the loads in both rifles and was now trying to get more rounds in while she wasn't personally being attacked. Too bad her window of oppurtunity wouldn't stay open very long.

Just as she was about to load up the new rounds, a pair of vamps jumped at her. "Gah! Oh no you don't!!" Amelia quickly dropped what she was doing and held both her hands out towards them. Before they knew what was happening they were both stopped in midair, just a few feet from their intended target. "Can I get a little help here...? Don't think I can hold them much longer.."

[batgirl]

"Ooh stationary targets." Jade leapt and tackled both of the vamps being held by Amelia, breaking the first one's neck and runnnig through the next. She pulled out her rifle and stood in front of Amelia. "Reload, I'll cover you."

[MC43]

43 watched as the group formed around him in a circle. He grinned, "Thanks for the cover, but I think you guys will need more help then you guys could give me." Even though he talked big, he appreciated the help given to him. We work like this... maybe we will make it out of this alive... He started to mumble a few words, scanning around for the largest group of bloodsuckers he could find. Completing a full 360 he found a group of 5 or 6 trying to sneak up on the group. Keeping his oath of silance he threw his arms up and a small blizzard seemed to form around the group. After blinding winds the storm subsided, but a cage of ice formed around they vamps. The looked around two even started to hit the cage, trying to break free. 43 couldn't help but smile and work onother spell, one that could end the entire thing, but he knew he was going to need time. A lot of it.

"Hope this mean my powers are unleashed boss!" Derrick said with a shoat of joy. He dropped the rifle he was carrying, snapped his fingers, and made a sweeping motion. Suddenly a group of the vampires that had been regrouping were engulfed in a wall of flame that swept over them, quickly turning the vampires to dust. After that Derrick felt a little tired, so he started shooting individual fireballs now, picking off his targets carefully instead of in huge blasts.

Whie everyone else's powers flared around him, Graham continued firing off the handgun he had pulled out into the vampires' faces. They fell just like they had been falling for the past few frantic minutes, but now there weren't as many others showing up behind them. And that meant...

"We're almost through with the bastards. Let's finish this little scene."

"OK!" yelled Janet and ran to the nearest vamp, pudshing her knife into its ribcage: "We have only few more, so hurry. Break them appart." Then she rwn throwards a nother one and stabed it in the back.

Derrick said, "No problem." He stopped his fireballs and gathered his strength for a bit, then shot a massive rolling ball of fire that started to roll aound on the battlefield, burning any vampire unlucky enough to get in its way and lowering the number of vampires by a good bit.

43 sighed. "If your gonna defeat tham all, you have to defeat them all!" He finished what he was mumbling and looked up. "I hope you all brought winter gear..." He shot up his hands and a fierce storm started to brew. Winds blew in from the north, pushing 50 to 100 miles an hour. Whatever this was, it was going to be cold. "Fireboy, you might want to warm up some of the crew." The remaining vamps started to charge at him, but the "eye" of the storm was focused on him, and as the lept, they only got caught in ice, falling around him like flies. Large flies in cubes of ice that it.

"Well if its about to become chilly, your right that I'll need to warm us up," Derrick said. He let his fireball explode, burning the vampires that were now being thrown everywhere by the arctic wind, and he formed a bonfire in the middle of the group which radiated heat outward even in the middle of the freezing storm. "Well, looks like I'll get to use those marshmellows after all," he said, and surprisingly he pulled out a bag of marshmellows and started putting them on sticks and giving them to the other members, seemingly ignoring the raging storm and dying vampires everywhere around them.

After having reloaded and blasted a few more vamps, she quickly retreated to the nearby fire just as the snowstorm began to pick up. She rubbed her arms, shivering quite a bit. "Damn... that's cold...."

As Amelia jumped up and down to try and stay warm, she nearly fell over as sure enough Derrick pulled out a bag of marshmellows and proceeded to give them out to the others around the fire. "......" Her mouth just hung open for a minute, until she was giving her marshmallow stick. "I don't know whether to be utterly shocked, or happy... or... I just don't know... "

Soon the vampires were all dead and the forest returned to it's former quiet serenity. The bodies had been covered by the snow and William looked around in satisfaction. There were no witnesses and no evidence that could be easily spotted.

"That was good work guys" he said with a grin "but do you think we could shut up now? or do you really wanna have to do that again? no wait don't answer that just shut up."

Wandering among the trees looking for where they came from he suddenly came upon an unburied trapdoor over an underground tunnel. Perfect opportunity.

"Hey guys! look! we finally got a break lets get goin while the goin's good." he said and pulled open the door and slid down the ladder into the pitch blackness of the tunnel "Derrick we could use a little light".

"Sure thing cheif," Derrick said, taking point. He took a few steps down the ladder, then formed a ball of fire in his hands, casting a flickering light across the walls and revealing the tunnel so everyone could see down it. Derrick stood and waited for the others, one hand holding the ball of fire, and the other holding a stick and warming one of his marshmellows in the fire in his other hand.

After the storm subsided, 43 fell to his knees panting. Watching as some of the team moved down a ladder into the group he glared over to them. You're kidding right? Right... I'll be right over... let me just drag my limp dead body over there... and he did just that, drag his body across the frozen ground to the door.

Jade had noticed that everyone was walking into tunnel, but she had said that she was going to take point, so she stayed behind to be the last one. She looked behind her only to find 43 dragging himself towards the door. She walked over to him adn extended her hand. "Need a hand?"

43 looked up to see a hand in front of his face, "Need a hand?"

He looked up to see the girl... Jade was it? He actually let off a little smile. "Yeah... I could use one..." He gripped it with his, however, even with the gloves he was wearing, his hands were cold to the touch. Almost to the point that they hurt.

"Well I'm sleepy," sid Janet suddenly, as she climbed down the ladder: "That fights outcome was so predictable. We will not even get a scrach until the mission is over!" Saing that she stepped downwards and started putting her foot on a step, but the step was gone, and she started falling (lets say 3 meeters.)

OOC:You did not know, that in My country ladder is redel, with an e like in enemy or edge.

Heading down the tunnel into darkness with only the light from the floating fireball to light the way. William was feeling nervous with anticipation and at first he didn't notice the presence in his mind. When he did he tried to fight it but it was too late. Turning he tried to warn the others but he could see they were not affected anyway.

Suddenly he consciousness snapped, and as he sank greatfully into oblivion the presence within caused his body to move without him. One moment he was walking along the corridor and the next he had sprinted away and ducked down several of the twisting side passages, becoming hoplessly lost and confused.

He had lost the others allmost instantly for they were to shocked to form an effective pursuit. After a while he regained consciousness and found himself strapped to a medical examination table with several vampires above him.

"foolish human" one of them said "we have been preparing for your arrival and now have powers you would not believe. So far all your team has come up against are the weaklings amongst us. How will they fare pitted against our elite who are not only vampires but have a variety of powers like your comrades?" with that they left him laughing crazily and the machines began to run their tests.

"come on guys......you gotta do this one without me" he whispered to himself in fear as he felt the presence return.......

Amelia pulled back away from one of the dark corridors. "Not there either... Why would William just run off like that?" She gave a worried look to the rest of the group as she nervously continued to look through the darkness.

One minute, they were all just there together, then the next he had shot past all the others in a dead run, disappearing into the darkness.

This isn't going to be good. I have this really bad feeling inside...

Derrick's firball had doubled in size, fueled by his anger. "It had to be the vampires, he had this look in is eyes, that was just not right. I have a feeling none of us are going to find what we expect on this mission," Derrick said, also looking down hallways for where William may have gone, figuring that when they found where he went, it would lead to the vampires and him.

The look of concern only became worse as Derrick spoke. "You don't suppose they're doing anything bad to him. I mean, we all know that the vampires aren't the friendliest, but you don't think they'd..." Her voice faded away as she stopped and listened for a second, thinking she heard something coming from another of the side corridors.

"I wouldn't go counting Derrick out just yet, he seems to be able to take care of himself. Besides it's not him I'm worried about." Jade's eyes were blazing yellow as she tried to block out all of the power she was feeling. "We're being followed, by something really powerful. I can't tell how many, all the movements are meshing into one." Jade held her head as it throbbed. "God, why won't they stop moving? It hurts so much!"

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH!" Janet fell down on the ground with a thump: "Were are we. OW! my back! My brones are brocken! I know!"

43 looked around. The leader was gone, and everyone was in a panic. Jade had a headache that seemed to be the size of a small city, and if they weren't careful, they were all going to be eaten by a large fireball. One girl had tripped and began to cry out that she had broken bones in her body. He finally had enough of it. Picking himself up off the ground somehow, he hit the fire with an ice ball, causing some of it do die out.

"Listen! Everyone stop crying! For the love ao god, we're not going to die. Flamer, you need to calm down before you kill us all with your blaze," He pointed to Janet, "You tripped over a rock, so calm the hell down!" He then looked over to Jade, "And whatever it is can't be that much! Hell! I could take them all by myself! Now if you excuse me, we have to press on and fine the leader... whatever the hell his name was!!" He took several steps foward, turing to face the group once more, "Well? Any of you coming!?"

"What do you think I am! An idiot! I know when I have broken bones. I have readen about it!" Janet exclaimed to 43; "Besides, it wasn't a rock, it was something weird. Take a look. It's more like a... opening in the ground."

"Oh God make it stop" William called again and again as the now familiar VOICE penetrated his mind. Slowly he could feel his memories being stripped from his mind his purpose stolen and his identity changing.

'why do they keep me in this weak human body?' he thought to himself 'I wan't my powerful vampire body back'

Realising what he had just thought to himself William began to scream....They were wapring his psche.....he was becoming one of them in his mind, and he was hungry for blood.....

Amelia scowled at 43 as she attempted to help Janet back up to her feet. "First of all, none of us are crying. Secondly, Derrick made his flame bigger so that we'll have more light to see, and it's pretty obvious that Jade can tell there's something down here. So why don't you get back in the BACK where you're supposed to be and protect our rear while the rest of us up front search for William." She pulled Janet's arms around her shoulders and half-dragged, half-carried her past 43, obviously quite pissed now.

Jade had to restrain herself from lunging at 43 and tearing him a new breathing hole. "Look whoever you are, my powers aren't as fine tuned as yours it seems. I'm sorry that I feel what I feel, but I can't help it. My powers allow me to sense the movements of others as well as give me a good idea of where they are. Now, I'm telling you that there is something following us. You can believe me or you can't I don't care, but don't start criticizing the way I am just because you are in complete control!" She gave him a death glare and stalked past him to the hole in the ground near Janet. Kneeling, she said "I can't tell what's down there, it seems to be pretty deep. I'm not even sure it has a bottom...We might just want to bypass this and try to find William."

He looked around. This team was going to die, there was no doubt about it. He shook his head. "Then why did you join?" He looked around. All he could see was black all around him. He liked it, gave him an advantage, but to everyone else, they didn't feel the same. Feeling around on the ground he felt a stick, almost part of a trunk. It was thick and heavy, perfect for a torch. Walking over to Derrick's flame, he put the stick in until it caught fire. "All right... this is what were doing. I'm going down in the hole to explore more, I'm putting Fireman over here in charge of this leading party for he has the light. Anyone want to join me, follow me in. If not, I can handle my own." With the end of his speech, he put the fire down the hole only to see, more black. Leaping in, he found it barely a crawl space, but it did seem to streach for a long while. He started to crawl in, listening for anyone who might want to follow him.

"Wait, I know the upper plan of the cave," Janet suddenly yelled: "It's visiable because you can't just dig a hole underground and hope nothing on the aboveground changes. Hand me the map of the overground, containing plant positions too, please. ow."

"Gee, we'd gladly hand you a map if we had one; but we don't." Jade mentally checked herself for being snappy. All of the frustrations of the day were not helping her attitude any. Between 43's comment about her joining the team to Janet's broken bones, the day was not going well. "Ok, I'm gonna go with Derrick to find an entrance and hopefully William. Plus, if I go down there with 43, I might get the temptation to show him why I'm on the team in the first place; and we need all the people we can get. It would probably be best if someone went with 43 to watch his back." She mumbled under her breath not that I give a rat's behind if he gets stabbed though."

Thing's were getting tense and to the breaking point. "Everyone needs to take a second to calm down. All of us going insane and killing each other down here will not help save William from wherever he's gone. We need to stay organized and focused on getting out of this maze, taking down the vampires, and finding William. All personal vendetta's should be put on hold until this disaster is over, got it everyone?" Derrick said, for once not joking and being lighthearted but being totally serious and trying to get everyone back on track.

"Even so Derrick, someone SHOULD go with 43, even if he IS been a jerk. Not that I really think we should split up, but it's better that we not go alone anywhere down here."

[Forever Zero]

"Hmm, I'm not very good in a leadership position. If anyone want to volunteer to help 43, he will probably need it, the rest of us will follow these tunnels until we find William or make our way into the main base." Derrick said.

[LilWhiteMage]

"I guess since Jade's going to go with you, and Janet can't go in there for obvious reasons... I guess I'm going with him." She frowned a bit at the thought of having to follow around after him, but there really wasn't a choice in the matter.

"You all just be careful, and try to find William as quick as you can." She backtracked the few feet to the hole that 43 had already crawled into, squeezing her way into it after him.

Geez... if I didn't know any better I'd just say this is just an ordinary hole. But there's always the possibility...

"Oh, well. I'll to chiropahthy and try to cure myself, while you are gone." Janet said, when everyone was leaving: "Jane, I know how you can lose your frustration. Just close you eyes for half a minute and don't think."

In the haste of preparing for an attack,one of the many vampires in the compound had knocked a book from a dusty book shelf,revealing a small room that had not been entered in what seemed a long time. In his curiosity a button was pressed, opening up the metallic tomb, awaking the blonde haired, blue eyed young man.

And with a mighty yawn,he released an electro magnetic pulse,knocking out all electronics within the building and underneath it. With a wave of his hand,a metal chair was flown at the vampire that uncovered him,quickly knocking the vamp into unconcouisness. "Thank you."

43 stopped, "Who's there? Who was stupid enough to follow me?" He tried his best to twist his neck to look at his new companion, but there just wasn't enough room. Giving up, he continued looking down the narrow path, "Just try not to get killed, huh?"

She stopped for a moment. "It's me, Amelia. And don't worry, I don't plan on getting myself killed." She then continued to squeeze her way through. "Not to complain, but I wish there was just a little more room to fit in through here..."
