There. Since Raiden wasn't online, I took the liberty in doing this so that hte RP doesn't get filled up with crap (if you didn't want me to do this Raiden, I'm sorry, I just didn't want pages of aguing in the RP.). Let's work this out like reasonable people guys...
BMHadoken
06-28-2004, 06:15 PM
I'm trying to work it out, but Jad is bending all known time and space and expects us to go along for the ride.
This just affirms that Time Magic is way too god-moddy outside videogames.
IHateMakingNames
06-28-2004, 06:18 PM
Basically, what ever Jad does with that clock, destroys the universe. Event A should happen, but doesn't, so time is destoyed. One person being in two places at once, space is destroyed. Either way, we are screwed.
BMHadoken
06-28-2004, 06:19 PM
Unless he can't go back in time and just sticks to speeding up and slowing down individual objects or the group. Then we all win.
I deleted all my OOC posts so now it looks kinda weird.

He could also occasionally freeze time. it would be cool, but also not too god-moddy.
Squishy Cheeks
06-28-2004, 06:30 PM
I didn't stop the event from happening. it still happened. why do you guys have such a problem understanding that.
IHateMakingNames
06-28-2004, 06:32 PM
Everything but your guy (From that exact moment that he turned the clock) and the sand timer thing is being turned back by time (Which means that your guy can't alter himself by time magic,). But the problem with that is you are making yourself co-exist with yourself, which is impossible, so while Time remains intact, space is destroyed.
Squishy Cheeks
06-28-2004, 06:35 PM
no it doesn't. If he does not alter the course of events as they happen, time is not actually destroyed.
IHateMakingNames
06-28-2004, 06:36 PM
Yes, time is not destroyed. Space however is. You can't have one without the other.
BMHadoken
06-28-2004, 06:42 PM
Jad, I'd be ok with time-reversal if it was Prince of Persia-like. If it went like
You: "LOUD YELLING"
Jude: "Gah" Water Bubble
You: Time turn back, no loud yelling, no water bubble.
Then we're back at accusing the Dark Mage and Jude reading his books. But you seem to think that you can annoy until it gets to the water bubble, then end up OUTSIDE the water bubble, and claim that you're in two places at the same time but there's only one of you...then my eyes cross cuz it makes no sense and the accusations start, with everybody thinking logically on one side versus you wanting to keep your neato time reversal.
And time freezing is super god-moddy SAAM (EX: BIG bad guy, time stop, Jad stabs him in the neck)
Squishy Cheeks
06-28-2004, 06:43 PM
Why? He did nothing to alter the events. All he did is move. as I said if time were a horizontal line I made a Z I didn't cross my path, I didn't alter the event. Nothing happenened to alter time in any way.
BMHadoken
06-28-2004, 06:49 PM
Well you obviously think we have some merit since you deleted your time romp...
And for Saam: Unless the conflicting mages naturally fight (Light vs. Dark, Pyro vs. Hydro and so on) I don't see why the brainy/nerdy Hydro would garner distrust from bully act first-think later Pyro. I thought it was more of the Hydro thinking the Pyro we're a tad too violent prone and the Pyro thinking the Hydro we're brainy wusses.
Squishy Cheeks
06-28-2004, 06:50 PM
I deleted it to keep from causing a scene. but now since your taking my polite gesture as a sign of defeat. I'll just repost it.

Something cannot be in two places at once. Your guy is in two places at once. Laws are broken, bad things happen.
And also, while your guy was moving, he would have moved some dust or something. That dust was supposed to be there, but he accidenly moved it while he was leaving the bubble. The dust was supposed to be there, but it's not (It's the same basic idea of Event A happening/not happening).
If this time thing is going to happen, it should be the Prince of Persia version (Where everything just goes back).
Squishy Cheeks
06-28-2004, 06:54 PM
I'm using the Time turner version. which is. If he goes back in time. The time line is still the same. He was going back in time anyway. Who's to say the future ken didn't show up when he did anyway. which in that event the time line is undamaged since NOTHING changed.

06-28-2004, 06:55 PM
I wish you guys would have told me you were having a pissing contest, that way I wouldn't have to read all of this.
And I could have looked the other way, that's just disgusting.
IHateMakingNames
06-28-2004, 06:57 PM
You know, your hourglass thing is really just a fancy, confusing way to say your guy can teleport. He can't do anything while time is changing, otherwise he will change something and time is destroyed (Though him being able to move makes no sense, but we'll ignore that). Teleporting and aging (Since he is not affected by the time, his body is still agin).
slightly aboveaverage man
06-28-2004, 06:58 PM
The shudder came more from the use of Hydro magic then it did the presence of your character. for him, just the mere mention of Hydro magic is enough to give him the heeby jeebies. It's just a part of his personality.
Squishy Cheeks
06-28-2004, 07:00 PM
Did you ever read book 3 of harry potter or see the third movie?
BMHadoken
06-28-2004, 07:02 PM
Yes, but that doesn't help your case, when Hermione went back in time with Harry they saw themselves from the past, and you claim there would be no one in the bubble.
EDIT: I guess I see your point Saam, fire can be doused by water...maybe I should be afraid with my ice spells around you guys...nah, wouldn't go with the logical way of Hydro thinking.
slightly aboveaverage man
06-28-2004, 07:05 PM
Exactly, my guy= instinct
Your guy = logic
Squishy Cheeks
06-28-2004, 07:06 PM
there wouldn't be anybody in the bubble since from the point he reversed time. He'd cease to be there. He'd also have to move out of the location when he restarted the time forward. Other wise he'd appear in the past in or on top of himself.
Fine next time I plan to do a rewind I'll ok it with Raiden if has no problem with it, will you guys shut up about it. I don't complain about your special powers.
IHateMakingNames
06-28-2004, 07:09 PM
wouldn't go with the logical way of Hydro thinking.
You don't have to follow the stereotpical version. Take my guy for example. He isn't some vegeterian, animal loving hippy. He would eat that hippy.
Edit - That's because our powers don't destroy the universe.
But since all your hourglass does is an aging teleport, I really don't mind.
BMHadoken
06-28-2004, 07:15 PM
My special power is a pillar of water, yours is a get out of shit free card that makes little-to-no sense and has the potential to end all existence as we know it.
Also, I'm ok with my sterotype of smart book-wormy logical mage, and I'm sure Saam can handle a hotheaded mage, but I can understand not wanting to be a hippy.
Stover
06-28-2004, 07:18 PM
Personally, I think the thing that makes the most sense would be for you to go PoP style:
You: Anybody want some diamonds?
Him: Waterbubble!
You: ...or not.
You: Rewind!
10 seconds back
You: Any...nevermind
BUT that wouldn't be a good idea for this RP, because that will piss us off, because we have to constantly retype our replies.
As such, the best idea would be for the jewel to have a battery, of sorts, that is only recharged through the normal passage of time. You can rewind time ~a second per day of normal time passed, slow down 1 second per hour of normal time passed, and can't speed up time at all.
This works because, at this point you'd have about 15 seconds or so of time reversal, and about an hour total of slowing down. When you think about it, you'd only really need the 'time slows down' part, which would give you plenty of time to think about and react to things. The 'time reversal' would be there so you could open a door, look on the other side, and then reverse time, so only you remember going through the door.
My two cents, at least.
Squishy Cheeks
06-28-2004, 07:24 PM
If we're going by logic then yes your pillar of water could destroy the univese since it means the laws of physics aren't working. this is a magic rp, and most importantly FICTION. Trying to put real scientific law onto this rp would destroy all of our powers.
You didn't have a problem when Raiden gave me the rewind power. i just wanted haste and slow, he gave me rewind and fast foreward too.
BMHadoken
06-28-2004, 07:31 PM
Probably because I was thinking in terms of PoP and Viewtiful Joe, not teleporting and whatnot.
And the "Well physics makes you're powers stupid too-nyeh" card...havent heard that one since...DUN DUN DUN...Perditions. But that was Raiden.
Squishy Cheeks
06-28-2004, 07:36 PM
It doesn't matter. I'm going to ask Raiden before I screw with the timeline. He has final say anyway, if you have a problem with it take it up with him.
Raiden
06-28-2004, 09:55 PM
He has final say anyway, if you have a problem with it take it up with him.
You know, that was honestly the first intelligent thing anyone said in this entire argument.
Guys, I gave Jad the time abilities because, unlike everyone else, that's the only magic he has. He can't blow a guy up with fire, or drown his enemies with water. Time is all he's got.
The other reason I gave him the time magic is because we've RPed with each other enough for him to know when I consider it to be too far. If he does it anyway, he knows that I'm going to get on his ass for it. That goes for everyone. I gave everyone freedom over their magic and what it can do. All I ask is that everyone gets along with it and, if I tell them it's too much, they'll quietly change it and not make a scene over it.
I don't want to enter a chain-of-command thing here, but I will.
I've been working on this RP for a while, trying to think of it. (I had a lot of free time while I was gone, so sue me.) I would really enjoy it if it didn't die because people couldn't get along.
If you have a problem with someone, don't start an argument. PM me and tell me your problem. If I think that it's a valid point, then I'll handle it from there.
Otherwise, just have fun. That's what this is about, right?

SS: 300 lbs for a 6' 3" man seems far too much, even for being muscular. 240-250 seems better to me. I could be wrong, but that's what I think.
Darth SS
06-28-2004, 10:48 PM
I wasn't being completely literal. It's just my way of expressing that he's a REALLY BIG guy. And it's not because he's fat.
More of an exxageration than anything. But still, I'd say it got my point of him being huge across.

Would it be possible for me to make a mass teleport spell, with the added effect of raining fiery death on the area we are teleporting to?

I think that Raiden is planning something with these "steeds" we are supposed to be riding. I say just play it by ear and see where he takes us.
Elminster_Amaur
06-29-2004, 02:09 PM
I guess...but I think I'll wait till we get there, and then say, "Hey guys, guess what! I have this cool spell that is a mass teleport that obliterates the entire area you teleport to!"
slightly aboveaverage man
06-29-2004, 02:18 PM
It also seems a little Godmoddy to me though, especially with the "Obliterates everything around it" clause. I believe Raiden specifically said that you shouldn't use spells that totally obliterate the battlefield. I'll get the quote in a second...

And he's a Storm Mage. Messing with people using their powers is what they do.
And I just used Steeds because if you teleport, the RP won't last very long.

I think I'm gunna do either a snake (to represent water) or some type of Ice Age creature...
And they're as fast as you want it to be.
Raiden
06-29-2004, 04:58 PM
Keep in mind they stick with your personality. If your character is going to freak out at high speeds, you'll be going slower than normal.
And if you've got a big character, you're gonna have a big animal.
CelesJessa
06-29-2004, 05:01 PM
I think I'm just going to go with a sleek black horse. I can't think of any other animal/creature that wouldn't look strange for Lorelei to be riding... besides, I like horses.
Edit: Or am I not allowed to have a horse because there's already one?

Not as a mount. That's to big. Also, my guy already has one, but it's his kill everything animal (And it's a wolf cerebus, not a dog one).

To those from TopWeb...remember the Cold Ones that I had in Realms? Unh huh unh huh. Except this one's tamed.

BMHadoken
06-29-2004, 05:58 PM
We're mages, we practice and learn spells for years, we view you as a mongoloid who spent all his available glands in swinging shit...at least thats how Jude views you.
IHateMakingNames
06-29-2004, 05:59 PM
Well, he showed up late, tripped over himself, is wearing a toga, and then told his giant lizard to attack a puppy for no reason.
I didn't say he is dumb because he is big, I said he is just dumb.
Darth SS
06-29-2004, 06:01 PM
BM- Badamn. Reasoning.
And doesn't Jude ever worry about calling someone that big various unflattering terms?
IHMN- You're always on time right? Togas are a bitch to wear, he's based on a roman gladiator (Hence the armour style and toga), and the giant lizard thing....I don't know where that came from. Personally, I think it's a sign for caffeine cut-back.
BMHadoken
06-29-2004, 06:05 PM
He doesn't need to worry about a mongoloid, he'd freeze you, trap you in a bubble, water pillar you, drain all the water in your body out...there's probably a good reason why the Mages are the ruling people...
IHateMakingNames
06-29-2004, 06:07 PM
Actually, I am almost always on time (Especially if it's something important, like a world saving mission).
Also, I doubt any of the mages would fear him. Carriers, even the strongest onces, are still easily topped. All mages can just trap them in some way (Ring of fire, box of ice, tornado, etc), and a Beast Mage can summon stronger things.
Darth SS
06-29-2004, 06:16 PM
I'm not saying fear them. Respect is a healthy word.
By example...when yuo see a cop, do you fear them? Or do you respect them?
Stover
06-29-2004, 06:18 PM
I tend to shoot them.
Edit: For the record, this was a joke.
BMHadoken
06-29-2004, 06:18 PM
Why should I/we respect what is below us? Cops are repsected because they risk their lives and help the common man...in Marakta, there are Mages, there are Creators, and then everybody else who can't use magic.
EDIT-And where did you get fear anyway, most of the mages think you're a bumbling fool in a dress/toga...
Darth SS
06-29-2004, 06:36 PM
Implications speak just as strong as words.
You implied that you believed I meant you should fear him.
Also, I fail to see how you're "above." Just logistically, if you've spent all this time working to get spells are everything, then you're missing different experiences. No one can ever be truly "above" someone because everyone has gone through something different, and handles different situations differently.
This is probably a bad example..but... You respect a bull. Why? You eat it's kind almost every day, you're smarter than it, and your own devising keeps it enclosed. Therefore, it's "below" you. Yet that bull can just as easily flip out, and run you down, then kill you. Sure you could get a gun and shoot that bull, but how often are you completely ready to handle that? You don't fear it, but you sure as hell give it its space. And you certainly don't go and poke it for no reason.
Man, I wondered why my ToK teacher retired...there's the reason right there.
BMHadoken
06-29-2004, 06:38 PM
Hmm...well, Jude considers you below him because at any point he could kill you (plus the stupidity factor), and you haven't earned respect in his eyes. If you manage to save Jude's life, then he'll consider you somewhat equal, but until then you're a mongoloid in a dress thingy.

BM pissing off Ken is not a wise course of action, so you may want to lay off. If you want to know why a time mage is dangerous. go pop Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade into a dvd player, then watch carefully the part when the guy uses the wrong grail.
BMHadoken
06-29-2004, 08:02 PM
But since you're not gunna kill me, I can annoy you till no end...but if you don't have a good answer for how you got past the magic barriers without the artifact or destroying/bypassing them then just say so here and I'll lay off in the RP.
Squishy Cheeks
06-29-2004, 08:05 PM
dumbass, he never got past the barrier. He made the maps before Sarion left to start his war. The maps are just enchanted in such a way as to accurately show exactly what is happening. If you pulled out a microscope you could even see the movements of a dragonfly. It's a global Marauder's map
BMHadoken
06-29-2004, 08:11 PM

Squishy Cheeks
06-29-2004, 08:18 PM

BMHadoken
06-29-2004, 08:22 PM
Ah...but if we did get ambushed, naturally you would just reverse time and warn us of our impending attackers, wouldn't you? Time is your bitch, and no one else, so reversing it and saying "Hey, lets go this way." is perfectly viable.

*rubs forehead*
Hmm...
BM, it's alright if he does the time thing. If for some reason he gets us out of an ambush, we could then ambush the ambush.
But, if you guys are really gonna be pissy about it, here's the last restriction. The LAST one. Jad, from now on, you need to charge your clock before using it. You can't suddenly decide to change time. It'll take longer to charge if you want a larger range of influence, farther change in time, etc.
BM, SS has a point about the whole bull thing. Remember, you can't cast magic without your staff, and if he manages to take your staff from you, you're screwed. So I wouldn't go too far. Plus, if you get TOO annoying, a certain Light Mage might decide to give you a few zaps.
Dante, if you really want to spend the entire RP riding on a worm, then I guess that's fine.

His mind kind of works that way...

Yes, yes, it's not surprising, but what am I supposed to do with all this spice, and those fremen? Why are the Fremen beckoning me with their krisknives? oh this is going to be bad.

*Throws miniature tentacle monster at Raidenm leaving it to molest him*
Quiet, you.
Actually, on second thought I would liek a nightshade nightcrawler... those are negative energy-based sandworms, essentially. Of course, I won't ride on it all of the time, or even most of the time - I'll have ALyrium bum rides off Lorelai. The nightcrawler follows underground and will devour me or something else on mental comamnd to protect me... and stuff.

Good lord I can picture it now.
*schoolgirl comes out*
"Sirs, I have the artifact you need, as well as the secret to eternal life."
*Tentacle beast roars, than rapes, destroying the artifact to get there*
*awkward pause afterwards*
"Dammit! Who was the idiot that decided that we had to have a tentacle monster? Eh?"
EDIT- Or this...
*Same girl*
Dante- *gasp* SHE CARRIES A LANTERN! ENEMY OF DARKNESS!
*roar, chew, death*
*awkward pause*
"JUST STOP WITH THE WORMS ALREADY!"

Just give it to me, I'll enslave the world in spice addiction to me...

Actually it'd be more of..
SS: (opens mouth)
Dante: Sic him, boy.
Tentacle monster : (leaps on SS and does things to him straight from a scary episode of La Blue Girl)
Dante: Quiet, you.
:D

Well, I'd actually add her to the harem for when I conquer the world... but that comes later.

It's ok. It's ok. The Fremen just wanted to harvest me for my water. I told them I wasn't ripe yet. IHMN and SS you may want to stay away from tan guys with glowing blue eyes.

Anyone ever heard The Terrible Mr. Grimshaw?
If you haven't, all you need to know is that at one point, he sorta yells "Dude, what the fuck?!"
I need that soundbite right now. That way, I could signal to you that I do not know what you are talking about. And you, knowing my lack of understanding, would endevour to explain it to me. It'd be awesome.
Short of the long: What the hell are you talking about?
Edit: Most sentences require subjects. As such, I place them in.

Ok, I'm having trouble deciding on my mount.
Should I ride:
A. Mystra
B. A Nightmare
C. A very small Torrasque

Mystra is the Goddess of Magic in Faerun, a Nightmare is a demon horse with fire for a mane, and a tarrasque...well, you don't want to get it angry.
You might be a Munchkin if you ride a Tarrasque.
You are a Munchkin if your minions use a Tarrasque as a pack animal.

That's Tarrasque, you ignorant peasant. A Torrasque is a hero Ultralisk.
And I'd ride Mystra any day, in any way...

Would a griffin be ok, it has wings but it can only use them to knid of jump/hover, like a chicken.
p.s. please don't call me the chicken man

I'll stick with the nightcrawler travelling underground and following thr group while I bum rides from Celes, then. It'll be fun when the sandworm emerges and starts swallowing all the little fools...

I guess a Griffon would be fine. But the moment it starts flying, it's gonna lose some wings...chicken man.

You should make a new discussion thread, this one is over the page limit.
Also, I want to post something about the scent of a town nearby, but I have no idea what the situation is and if the scent would linger...
