[edit] IHMN........seriously, have you ever tried NOT being an asshole!? If you don't like something, then be polite about it, and maybe it might change.
No. You've seen how far being polite gets (Check the "Calvinball, Good 'Ol Days" thread). RaiRai was being polite at first, and all the idiots just ignored her. Now, if she had banned some body, then they all would have shut up.
Also, wouldn't the guy older then all of the other 'Chosen Ones' combined and multiplied by 5 have heard something/noticed something 'Chosen' about him (Him being my guy).

Good gravy man, just stop whining. I always try to treat others as I wish to be treated and do my best not to be an ass and to show respect to others, but even I think you are just being painfully whiny now. Just shut up and deal with the fact that different people handle things differently, and try not to be so damned thin skinned about things.

FZ, good gravy?
So, is this little kid going to visit us all?
And Kami, do you actually have a character you are going to use, or are you just going to be God (The GM) and some NPC every now and then?

I'm probably going to just be the GM, important NPCs, and the villian(Which could probably count as an important NPC). But, I'm good.

He catches up quickly, a fast runner despite his encumbering robes...
How exactly is a kid who spends most of his time reading magic books a fast runner, even in his robes? Let alone a faster runner then a fighter, a person who trains physically in a week more then mages do in their entire lives.
Dragonsbane
05-30-2004, 05:02 PM
tall, agile, doesn't wear encumbering armor, but if it makes you feel better, he can cast a spell to make him run faster.
[edit] problem solved, happy now?
IHateMakingNames
05-30-2004, 05:10 PM
That's three spells in less then half an hour, I would expect the mage to be getting a bit fatigued magic wise.
Dragonsbane
05-30-2004, 05:22 PM
3 spells is NOTHIN'!
besides, all of them were fairly low-level.......
in addition, the first one was early in the evening, the second was a short while after, and it was much more than half an hour before he cast the third (since he WAS wandering around, talking to Cora, going to magic shop, etc.)
IHateMakingNames
05-30-2004, 05:26 PM
A giant talking illusion is low level?
It wouldn't have been more then 5 minutes the talk with Cora, and it seemed like the trip to the magic shop only lasted a minute or two (Lack of talking between the two), and since he was originally going there that would idicate that getting lost wouldn't have taken more then a minute or so as well.
Dragonsbane
05-30-2004, 05:27 PM
yes, but it requires concentration to maintain (which is why he just sat there, reading and talking occasionally)
[edit] IHMN, the talk with Cora would have taken much longer........you forget that it wasn't only the words that were taking place, but the actions.
not much happened on the way to the magic shop, so of course there wasn't much talking........and Draloron was too confused to be talking overmuch.
IHateMakingNames
05-30-2004, 05:29 PM
Concentration = Draining. If you have to sit there and focus, it is obviously difficult and therefore would be draining.
Edit - I took the actions in consideration. You walked in, sat down, stared a bit, did some leaning, thought for a moment, stood up and sat down. That isn't very much, half of which had talking while doing it.
Dragonsbane
05-30-2004, 05:29 PM
Not for someone who has been trained in magic, and has learned how to do it with relative ease....he's learned techniques to help him concentrate, probably, and he wouldn't be that "drained" afterwards.
[edit] besides........what is Dirk doing? You spend more time on here than in the RP, and most of that time is spent telling other people every little problem you have with what they're doing. If someone does something objectionable, tell the GM, and let her decide.
Forever Zero
05-30-2004, 05:31 PM
*Sigh* IHMN, even I am failing to see the use of this line of debate... So he used three spells in about an hour. What's the poin? This isn't D&D, you don't get to cast one spell a day and then you have to take a freaking nap. The Ogre was a bit much and I would think he should have been tired keeping up that complex illusion, but the other two seem semi-minor and rather pointless in the grand scheme of things.
IHateMakingNames
05-30-2004, 05:32 PM
How trained can a 19 year old be in magic? Most mages are old for a reason.
Also, why is your guy's family suddenly rich when in your bio it was stated that they are middle class?
Edit - Dirk is drinking blood, not that much to talk about.
And have you seen Kami's reactions to anything OOC? Apparently she wants to be 'neutral'.
Edit 2 - FZ, I like to address small things before they become a big problem. Think of if he was doing this, but replace these 'low' spells with super fireballs mixed with lighting and death of DOOM. I can easily see DB having his guy shoot these off with no problem over and over.
Dragonsbane
05-30-2004, 05:34 PM
If any of them had touched the ogre, they might have seen through it..........there's another flaw.
It also seems that everyone expects Draloron to be hyper-weak when everyone else is some sort of ancient vamp assassin overlord, an obviously skilled fighter, an equally obviously skilled assassin, and a vampire sorceress who considers him a novice. Erik hasn't done much, so I can't include him in this.
I'm not saying there's anything wrong with your characters (though a 2000 year old vampire seems rather over the top), just that Draloron should be of equal power.
[edit] Raistlin was barely 20 when the War of the Lance happened, and he killed some of the most powerful of Takhisis's wizards.
[edit2] super fireballs? Those sound HIGH-LEVEL, casting those would be much more draining than casting low-level magics. And when I said merchants, you assumed they were middle class, that doesn't stop them from being rich (technically, Bill Gates might be considered a merchant  )
Forever Zero
05-30-2004, 05:41 PM
Do not bring Rasitlin the God-Moddiest Character Ever into this... It does not help your case, because frankly, I think we all pretty much hate him by now. I tend to agree that these spells aren't on the same par as Super Fireballs of DOOM however. If we get into a battle, and he starts to send lightning and fire and death and fury flying around the battlefield like it's going out of style, THEN there is a problem to be addressed. Right now, I don't see the point in addressing what seems to be a minor issue.
IHateMakingNames
05-30-2004, 05:42 PM
Where did you get overlord from for Dirk?
And 2584 (Or whatever his age is) is a teenager in vampire terms (It's nothing actually, since vampires are usually ageless). Your basic elder is 10,000-20,000+ years old.
And your guy has magic, he is already strong enough. Especially with your obsession with Raisltin and the idea of 'magic>all', I know your going to try and abuse it.
Do not bring Raistlin into this (Or anything for that matter). He is the DBZ of fantasy. It would be like comparing one of our fighters to Goku.
Other: One of many children of a middle-class merchant family,
No assuming, it is clearly stated right there.
Edit - I like adressing possible problems before they happen.
Kamifuko
05-30-2004, 05:54 PM
This may be off topic, but who's Rastlin???
Dragonsbane
05-30-2004, 05:55 PM
Where are you getting those numbers of vampiric age? 10,000 years is a LONG time (duh), and 2000 is STILL an immense amount. Think about it, empires have risen and fallen during such a timespan, unless your vamp had some kind of learning deficiency he would have gained an incredible amount of experience during that time. Vampires aren't like elves, spending most of their lives making art or enjoying life (some elves do other stuff, I know, but at most those are only a few centuries old), vampires are active. They plot, they scheme, they hunt........and any one that could survive for almost 3000 years is going to be pretty damn powerful......
I was bringing Raistlin into this to show that it is possible, he was only a normal human, yet he was that powerful that young.......and you think a 19-year-old wizard, trained in magic since he was about 8 or 9 years old, couldn't cast a few low-level spells?
IHateMakingNames
05-30-2004, 06:02 PM
So my guy has experience, big deal.
Well, Tien (Human) could blow up the moon several times over at the age of 15ish, so I guess our fighter(s) should be able to blow up moons easily and fly.
Comparing our PC to god moddy characters in stories is a bad, bad idea.
Kami, Raistlin is just some over powered mage character from some story.
Forever Zero
05-30-2004, 06:05 PM
This may be off topic, but who's Rastlin???
You don't want to know... He is from some book, and he was brought up many times in the Battle Royal Thread (You don't want to read it, it's over 2000 posts long...), and basically it was decided he could beat ANYBODY ON EARTH that he fought against. Actually recently it was decided that Unicron could beat him, but no one else could it seems...
And considering recorded history goes back about 4000 years, 2548 years is NOT a teenager, that is a full blown Eldar of the highest order. 30 years as a vampire is a teenager.
IHateMakingNames
05-30-2004, 06:07 PM
30 is not a teenager. 15 is a teenager to us, so doubling that for an ageless race would not make them a teenager.
And our recorded history only goes back 4000 years, fantasy stories' recorded history usually goes back much, much longer.
Also, Raistlin couldn't take anyone on Earth (Especially after krylo pointed out that Raistlin only beat Chaos in an extremely weakened form, and even then the most powerful spell ever only stunned him enough to stab his foot for a drop of blood).
Kamifuko
05-30-2004, 06:09 PM
I see...I'll take your word on it instead of just reading all 2,000 posts. By the way, the kid will only visit you when you're alone. I forgot to say that...:)
Forever Zero
05-30-2004, 06:10 PM
Yeah, but Chaos was a God, so unless you bring in DBZ characters, I can't think of many earthly characters that could beat him. Course, this isn't the place to renew that battle, and I hate Raistlin so I won't really try to defend him...
And let us say that best case scenario, a Fantasy World has a 10,000 year old history. Your guy is 1/5 as old as all recorded history. That isn't a teenager, that is pretty damn old. I would say in this 10,000 year old world, a 200-300 year old vampire would be a teenager.
IHateMakingNames
05-30-2004, 06:12 PM
I still say most fantasy world's have histories longer then 10,000 years, but it's usually the anceint/secret/immortal races that have them, not humans (Who tend to be the focus of said stories). Vampires tend to be one of those (Humans go by human recorded history)
I'll lower his age to 1354, but no more.
Forever Zero
05-30-2004, 06:14 PM
Alright, 1/10 as old as history seems fair enough...
And most Ancient/Secret/Immortal races either build a super-advanced level of technology and vanish, or they secretly exist, waiting to rise again to take over the world... Vampires fall in the latter category.
IHateMakingNames
05-30-2004, 06:17 PM
Wouldn't that just support my arguement?
Kami, how much time has passed IC since the beginning of the RP to now?
Forever Zero
05-30-2004, 06:18 PM
Not really. Vampires, even Elders, get killed all the time either by other vampires in power grabs, or by humans wishing to wipe them out. Thus the Vampire Age isn't some insanely high number since outside forces killing vampires comes into play...
Dragonsbane
05-30-2004, 06:19 PM
No, Raistlin beats Unicron, but Raistlin loses to Chaos....
[edit] bad DB! Stay on topic!
vampires aren't a race, they are a "template" (I know IHMN scorns D&D terms, but it's the easiest way to express it), in this world vampirism is a disease, not a race. Saying vampires are a race is like saying lepers are a race.
Forever Zero
05-30-2004, 06:21 PM
You just keep thinking that DB... We'll be over here doing valuable things while you try to convince yourself of that.

05-30-2004, 06:22 PM

Dragonsbane
05-30-2004, 06:22 PM
and that's longer than half an hour, ne?
IHateMakingNames

2-3 hours? Much longer then the post would indicate.
Dragonsbane
05-30-2004, 06:23 PM
The GM has spoken!
still, Vampires aren't a race, despite what you have been saying. They are the victims of a disease......calling them a race is like calling lepers a race. There wouldn't be "teenagers", and elder vampires are just the ones strong enough to survive for a really long time, indicating vampires get stronger as they get older, meaning you SHOULDN'T be allowed to be thousands of years old.
IHateMakingNames
05-30-2004, 06:27 PM
You have a prodigy mage, I fail to see why an old vampire is a problem.
And vampires usually see themselves as a race, since they become stronger then humans and live longer, usually they see themselves as superior and as their own race.
Dragonsbane
05-30-2004, 06:28 PM
What I'm saying is that you shouldn't be accusing me of being overpowered over a few weak spells, when you have a few thousand years of experience in your craft.
IHateMakingNames
05-30-2004, 06:30 PM
What craft? He shoots poisoned arrows at people, and sneaks up on them by turning into an animal. After about 20 years of that, you can't really learn much else (Experience only goes so far before the experience is very little to nothing).
The only reason I had such a high age is to he could go outside in the sun for about 15 seconds and not burn up and die instantly.
Forever Zero
05-30-2004, 06:31 PM
He has 1000 years of experience. In WoD this would be way to powerful for a PC to control, but here considering the time variables and such, he is much weaker.
EDIT: I am still confused by how getting a disease lets you turn into an animal...

Dragonsbane
05-30-2004, 07:05 PM
yes, but as GM, any decision you make is final............even if you did something like having lightning strike out of a clear sky and blast us all to bits (DON'T! This is just hypothetical!)

So, a little kid is in your house waking you up, then kidding about how a little kid in your house may seem funny, and starts telling you about other Chosen Ones, that instantly makes some one think they are an old man (or sarcasticly)? Don't use OOC knowledge IC...

And your fighter is made to think that young people who break into your house are in reality old people? Where was that ever even hinted at?
Royalspork
05-31-2004, 11:43 PM
lets stop argueing and say that my guy is just being sarcastic which he is (hint the bold print) because the talk of chosen one by a little kid is just like a kid trying to act older so I was being sarcastic by calling him old
IHateMakingNames
05-31-2004, 11:45 PM
If anything, talking about chosen ones would show that the kid is infact a kid. How many old people ramble on about chosen ones? Now how many little kids make up little stories about things like this? The latter has many more.
Royalspork
05-31-2004, 11:48 PM
most children would not think that albannar is losing its force and thus think that they need chosen ones by the way how much children know all the laws and not just their parents rules or know of a mage that I had bumped into before.

05-31-2004, 11:50 PM
how much children know all the laws and not just their parents rules or know of a mage that I had bumped into before.
Well it's a pretty basic rule though, i think everyone's parents told them Don't go into other peoples houses without permission

IHateMakingNames

He never mentioned anything about Albanner losing it's force and thus think chosen ones are needed.
And I think some little kid might now that having a little kid in a bed with a stranger who is an adult is against the law (I did). Lastly, how many old men would know you bumped into a mage before? But, kids tend to stalk people more often then old people do (As part of a game, which ties in with the chosen one thing).
Also, use some sort of grammar. These post of yours are annoying to read.

I would respond, but the middle of that post confuses me. I can't seem the understand what the hell you just said, so I'm just going to make a random response. Don't use OOC knowledge IC when it should not be there, even if it is 'sarcasm' (Bad excuse to do it).

Kids are also more likely to respect the rules they do follow instinctively, but more to the point is the fact that the kid was not acting like a normal child.
IHMN, you should stop arguing every point until it becomes irrelevant....if it was just the stuff I was doing, I could just accept that you hate everything I do and move on. But HoP was acting within reason, and you don't have a valid point for contention in this case.

Im gone for about TWO Frickin' DAYS and this pops up?!! And you all are hating on Raistlin, too?!! I love Raistlin!! I like how he's sickly but totally kicks ass when he needs to, he uses everything at his disposale to further his goals, and he is always trying to improve his evilness. he was the only character that i really like in the whole Dragonlance novella. also IHMN, you need to stop argueing with everyone about every little cr@ppy thing and just let ppl play the game!!! if it becomes a big problem then you can b!tch about it!!!! otherwise you are being a stupid, whiny, little perfectionist, you're the biggest child here. so shut up and play! 817CH  :D
:bmage: Taste my evilishushness

wow......:D
Raistlin does kick ass, not because he's in permanent god-mode (such as Goku) but because he's brilliant and cunning enough to use every weapon he has, and is a master with spell tactics. I admire him for that, but that's beside the point.
That said.....focus on the game, IHMN, you should worry more about how you are roleplaying it, and less about how everyone else is.
