Suffice to say, I have never DM'd an Rp here before. So this is going to be an experience for all of us.

I am currently working on a system that translates the feel of the original Fallout system into a more forum friendly format. This is going to take some time, mind you, so be patient. This Pre-Rp signup is basically just going to be a place for you to (a) Signup and (b) Ask the questions you feel need to be answered.

I should have my act together in about a weeks time.

If you've played Fallout before, then you'll (probably) be happy to know that this Rp is set 2 years after the events of Fallout. Those of you unfamilliar with Fallout will (probably) be happy to know that I will take special care in making sure that you get briefed on what exactly Fallout is all about.

Quick Synopsis: You exist in a Post Apocalyptic world, everything you may consider to be valuble isn't, and everything you consider to be mundane is (valuble). Be ready to lead a minimalist lifestyle. There ain't enough for everybody. Think Mad Max, but without any vehicles or desperate attempts to control the remaining fossil fuel resources ...

To conclude, signup and tell me that you are intersted, give me an idea of what kind of character you will be playing, and feild any pertainent questions.

FYI, you are all going to be from the same 'Vault' and you are all going to know eachother, so try to craft complimentary characters. More than anything this Rp is going to be centered around story. If ever I run combat, it will be deadly. For those of you who were around for Call of Cthulhu, you'll know just how deadly I want to keep things. Basically as a defense against combat junkies trying to ... juice their combat jiibes.

Sound good? Great. Get to it!

Whoa, Call of Cthulhu deadly?! That's pretty nuts... The Call of Cthulhu book says literally to have one main character, and one ready backup character at all times because you will die... So when do we get our Power Armor, heh?

I'm interested, but right off the top of my head a good plot escapes me. The Master is dead, the Super Mutants are in disarray, and it will be years before Fallout Tactics takes place, and even LONGER before Fallout 2 takes place... Bandits aren't too much of a problem to deal with as long as you are well armed...

But, a Fallout RPG sounds like a good idea, so I'm behind it. I don't know who I'll play, but I'm interested.

So... This whole thing is about us being pretty much hopeless. If we ever get anything cool, then it's probably worthless, and if we ever get into trouble, we're probably going to die.
Sounds good for my first RP here.

I played Fallout, so I guess I'm a vault dweller. That means that I get a blue suit with a number, right?

Name: Justin
Age: 26
Occupation: Chemist and Hair Stylist

Appeareance and Non-Biographical Info: Justin has black hair. He wishes he could make it blue, somehow. Otherwise, he is lanky in build, has green eyes, carries a backpack full of lab tools and barber tools, and can be very emotional. He is either overjoyed, furious, or neutrally calm. His mood rarely changes from calm and collected, but it will change in a quick and extreme way (When it does). Justin also tries to keep a new book around at all times, and hell lend you his old one. He likes reading about medical mysteries. Also, he has a fashion magazine from aeons ago. He knows that there millions of them once, and he hopes to build a collection if he ever gets out.

Biography:
Justin has been a vault dweller for a long time now. In order to be useful, he has made use of himself as an assistant chemist to the more professional lab scientists. An excited student, Justin lends himself out to be one of the most promising young chemists. Strangely though, Justin has not progressed into this carrer path very much. He seems to be postponing his life.
The fact is that Justin does not want to spend his days analyzing the outside world from the inside of a vault, despite how talented he is. He is attentive in the lab, but he dreams and dreams large at night. He wishes desperately to enter the outside world and take his explorations elsewhere. It is not the crammed, stifling laboratories that thrill him, but the radioactive, mutant overrun wasteland in the untamed wilderness.
Justin also has another secret passion. Hair styling. At every chance, at every break, Justin will take unused chemical samples, and test them out for cosmetic purposes. It is his dream to become the first and greatest heir stylist in the new world. Already, he has perfected some perfumes, and dazzling hair colors. And deep down, Justin knows that there's gotta be somebody on the outside who is in need of a new hair color. Everybody in the vault looks the same. It's all so dull. A total make over.
And, of course, thare's also gotta be tons of new tools for styling laying around all over the outside. Like red clay....

As this is only Justin's bio, it probably isn't worth mentioning that he has no clue as to how he is ever going to be able to do his work without supplied resources from the vault. I guess he'll be creative, yea?

Oh, and if a dangerous situation comes up, I'm sure that I can bs up some method of concocting a chemical for escape or attack purposes.
(Crap! I may fall into the basic "Alchemist" slot.)

-------------

Right. I haven't read 8-Bit RPs. Is this the kind of character you're looking for?
Should I make it a girl? I'm just feeling odd, and I didn't want some stereotypical Fighter/Monk/RM/BM kind of character, ya know?
So, if you want something new, somebody with a different kind of agenda (Or genre), then let me know.

Note: Of course, any reason he uses for leaving the vault will be related to chemistry, not hair styling. It is a secret goal that I plan to unleash when the time is crucial! Maybe when some hairy, ungroomed bigfoot mutant attacks, Justin can show him a reason to leave the team alive, by giving him an attractive haircut... or something...

Edit: These RPs move fast, so, if you don't like this or me, you may not have to worry. I always come back and fall too far behind the massively fast growing RP posts here... So, uh, can you tell me approximately how much time I have to have free to play this out?

Edit 2: You tell me how the stat/skill Character Creation aspect goes, and I'll add that in. (I don't recall exactly what a tag skill is, and I don't quite understand whether or not you really want me to add numbers to my bio. Are we using dice here?) And I guess I'll be "boying" this up.

Well combat isn't going to be that deadly ... maybe ...

And as for the story, I wouldn't worry about it that much, Zero. I have a good one set up.

Mayhaps this should be adressed, though. Anyone entering this RP and expecting a 'Brotherhood of Steel(PS2)' gunfest will be dissapointed. Ammo, never mind twin fisted death pistols, is a rare rare thing ...

edit- A hairstylist, Martyr? If you lose the blue hair I will have no problem with it. I'd rather everyone play their own gender, too. So if you're a girl then girl it up. If you're a boy, boy it up. If you're neither ... just stay away from me ...

Character creation will be almost exactly it is in Fallout, however your Tag Skills will pretty much be the only skills you will be able to use. That way, party custimization is that much more easy and complimentary to one another.

I may do this...

If this RP turned into that black festering boil that is a black mark on the good name of Fallout, I would be forced to hurt someone...

Well, in Fallout I went with a 10 AGI combat junkie that would shoot twice and ask questions never, but I might actually make that intelligent Fallout character I had planned but that I could never get to survive in the games...

I actually played a junkie character in the second Fallout installment. Spent most of my time throwing up and going in remission due to lack of 'juice.'

Intellegent characters will survive this game longet than unintellegent characters. Suffice to say that relies on the player rather than the character. Combat junkies notwithstanding, everyone should try and make a place for themselves on the team.

Again, you all know eachother and are all 'soon to be expunged' vault dwellers.

I will post the character creation rules in a few days as soon as they're polished up. As for the speed in which this game takes place, that's up to the number of people in it. I may consider handpicking a group of players from the pool of 'hopefulls' ... No more than 6 or 7 people, probably.

I will also have a posting system in place to keep things from being overrun too much ...

Work in progress so far. You'll have to bear with me ... bare with me? ... bear with me? Supposibly?

Eh... I'm interested. I know nothing about fall out other than it being post-apocolyptic, however. Never played the games... Thus I shall hold off on coming up with anything resembling a character until the sign up info is up. I'm thinking maybe a medic or something of that nature, though.

Fallout does have its share of Tenticle mutants, so I suggest everyone forget about playing a Japanese School Girl.

Unless said school girl kicks as much arse as GoGo. Then it's all good ...

I feel dirty now ... dirty like a David Lynche film ...

Unless said school girl kicks as much arse as GoGo. Then it's all good ...Or has a tentacle rape fetish, ala Kiki (http://www.ghastlycomic.com/d/20010526.html)?

Forever Zero

1. That probably because you are that dirty...

2. What tenticle monsters? I played all 3 Fallouts and I never saw one... Do you mean the Master's Mutant animal things? They didn't really have tenticles...

Well, there were the things that kinda looked like weeds sprouting from a fleshy moving stump ... They would lash out at you and make a wet slapping sound ...

Unless I'm getting a Master Monster mixed up with the living plants of Arroyo ... Been a long time since I matched wits with the Master ...

I'm interested. I have played a bit of Fallout and a bit of Fallout tactics, so I know a little. What exactly do you want us to conclude to our sign-up?

PC. The three games were Fallout, Fallout 2, and Fallout Tactics. The first two were RPGs, the last one was a Tactical Strategy game.

I just remembered that I have played all three of the games, and most of all Fallout Tactics.

Okay, so things are moving along smoothly on my end. Estimated start of this RP will, most likely be next Friday. At the earliest ...

I would just like to re-restate that you are all going to be from the same vault, and should all have characters that compliment one another. Everything you do will be as a team (for the most part).

And, I will add, I am going to be attempting to utilize a new 'posting' method I've been working on for a lil' while. I'll have that up by, at the minimum, Monday, and will take all your questions at that time.

Dante

All fromt eh same Vault? So does that mean we're all Vault Dwellers, or that we came out of a Vault and started living on the outside?

Demon with a Glass Hand
05-28-2004, 10:26 PM
You will all be vault dwellers at the very beginnig, but probably for as long as one post. Then you will be sent out headfirst into ... well, danger.

If this thing is around by June 18th, I'll gladly join as a late person.
