Seriously, he is. (http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2009/10/24/rep-grayson-calls-cheney-a-vampire/#more-74575) And dammit, I'm pissed I cannot vote for this man.

Controversial freshman Rep. Alan Grayson, who has become famous for attacking the Republicans' health care plan, went on the attack again Friday night, calling former Vice President Dick Cheney a vampire for his recent criticism of the Obama administration's handling of the war in Afghanistan.

"I have trouble listening to what [Cheney] says sometimes because of the blood that drips from his teeth while he's talking," the Florida Democrat said on MSNBC's Hardball Friday night. "But my response is this: he's just angry because the president doesn't shoot old men in the face. But by the way, when he was done speaking, did he just then turn into a bat and fly away?"

In a hard-hitting, wide-ranging speech (http://www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/10/22/cheney.obama/index.html) last Wednesday, Cheney targeted the administration's decision-making process on how to proceed in Afghanistan, saying Obama has failed to give troops on the ground a clear mission or defined goals and appeared "afraid to make a decision."

"The White House must stop dithering while America's armed forces are in danger," Cheney said at the Center for Security Policy. "Make no mistake, signals of indecision out of Washington hurt our allies and embolden our adversaries."

In responding to Cheney's attack, White House press secretary Robert Gibbs on Thursday got in a jab of his own.

"What Vice President Cheney calls 'dithering,' President Obama calls his solemn responsibility to the men and women in uniform and to the American public," Gibbs said. "I think we've all seen what happens when someone doesn't take that responsibility seriously."

Grayson, a successful trial lawyer turned Congressman, shot to national fame - and notoriety - last month, when he took to the floor of the House of Representatives and dramatically described the GOP health care plan as: "Don't get sick, and if you do get sick, die quickly." He refused to apologize; Republicans say they'll mount a stiff challenge against him in his conservative-leaning district in 2010, but so far no one has come forward.

Yeah but everyone has someone who hates them. This does not surprise me. This man needs to be turned into a memetic Badass like Chuck Norris and Van Diesel.

I like the guy, but I don't wonder if he's more talk than action. How strong of a public option will he be really be willing to insist on?

He has been accused of being a werewolf (http://trueslant.com/matttaibbi/2009/09/25/have-the-federal-reserve-or-prime-brokers-ever-tried-to-manipulate-the-stock-market/), might explain his extreme dislike of Count Cheney.

Honestly I'm very okay with him just talking at this point, because his talking is calling out, well, everyone. I mean this isn't just Democrat fangasming over here, the guy's just a great politician.

Fun fact, at the end of the interview, Alan Grayson was referred to as "Captain Cahones".

To me, that shouldn't really reflect badly on Grayson. I'm only reminded of the existence of news editors when they can be spotted manipulating information with the intention of skewing it. There's not much that's redeemable about that form of expressing an opinion.

... You're taking me too seriously. All I wanted to draw attention to was that the phrase "teabagging" had been used. I think, in fact, that the article was documenting criticism of Grayson, not criticizing in itself, and I quite like said politician. That will be all.

My god, I love this guy. Apparently Grayson just skinned Republican Representative Paul Broun of Georgia over his amendment to the Fire Grants Reauthorization Act of 2009 to bar funds from ACORN, even though they have not been convicted of anything yet (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bill_of_attainder). Here's the article (http://blog.newsweek.com/blogs/thegaggle/archive/2009/10/23/alan-grayson-s-crusade-against-the-gentleman-from-georgia.aspx) and the video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AKz5ZHM8kFM&feature=player_embedded) from it.

While I agree ACORN should be monitored by the feds if they are using federal funding (all groups that receive any federal funding should be watched for fraud), what the conservatives and Republicans have been accusing the group of beyond the stupidity of some of ACORN's volunteers is just ridiculous and they deserve to be called out for their over-reactions. It's great to see someone in Congress do that to the right-wing twits.

What is great is that the article's about the so-called "Tea-Party Patriots (http://www.motherjones.com/mojo/2009/10/teabagging-alan-grayson)" who do stupid shit like this:
Chuck Colley, who said he's new to the Tea Party movement, told me that the President, who he called "Ali Baba," is "ruining this country" by creating problems "so he can invoke more government." Obama "wants to be the Marxist leader of this country," the "Hitler," Colley said.
or even
There were counter-protesters. Bob Jenner was sporting a fedora and holding up a sign that said Grayson: n., backbone. While most Tea Partiers were careful about what they said to reporters, they didn't always keep their muttering to themselves. "He's a teacher," one said of Jenner (who is). "That explains his socialist tendencies." Another speculated that something about Jenner (his sign? his hat?) would "be good for target practice." Jenner, who was being interviewed at the time, didn't catch the thinly-veiled threat.

"He's like Hilter! Because he, y'know, is a really good speaker!"

Apparently our last four presidents were so godawful at political motivation we need to invoke Godwin's Law the moment someone actually can arrange a sentence in English by himself.

Is it possible to nominate a White House press secretary? Because if so, I want someone to nominate Mr. Grayson as White House press secretary.

Don't see why. Pretty sure corporate lobbyist and whore are synonyms. An Enron lobbyist probably equates to a STD riddled obese transexual street hooker too. He was actually polite as far as I'm concerned.

Honestly, that language probably was a bit over the line, but I'm not sure I care. I like him for the rationality he displays elsewhere, and won't hold a bit of foul language against him. Especially when its targeted at lobbyists for Enron, of all things, that are still working in Congress.

I more meant that the people running this story are like, Politico, Fox, and Redstate.

But yeah, people getting upset at Grayson means he's doing his job and Democratic congresspeople getting upset at him double-means he's doing his job because Congressional Democrats are the most hapless bunch of invertebrates you'll find on dry land and exactly why someone like Grayson is necessary in the first place. The fact that they're digging up a quote about an Enron lobbyist that's a month old (which I mean hell that's older than anyone's even known Grayson's name) to stage their first big Grayson is a Dummyhead party is just icing.
