(no, that's not what it translates to)
So maybe you know Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni, which is by the same people. This is like the same thing, but this time they quit fuckin' around and get it right.
So there's a bunch of people, and they start dying, seemingly due to a super-vague supernatural force. And then it happens again and again (no it's not like endless eight shut up) until eventually you figure out that the cause is not as magical as it seemed. And then it is defeated.
So it's a mystery. A gory, gory mystery.
Whereas Higurashi has a bunch of lolis and a bunch of stupid school-time fun in between all the vicious murder, Umineko is filled with rich, conniving assholes who are all at each other's throats to get even more money. "The kids" are 20-ish... but there is one loli. Can't win 'em all. Anyway, the whole magical mystery of it is way more up front. This one gets right to the point.
And here's what I want to talk about. Even if you're not into any of that, as of the conclusion of the second arc, this show has also taken on a Code Geass quality. By that I mean, even if you don't like what they're going for (and/or they just fail at it), it's still worth watching just for the ridiculous spectacle of it. I could not believe the shit I saw in that episode. I'm watching not only for the mystery, which, while going well, may well be ruined at any time, but also just to see what they do next.
The end of the second arc also pretty much guarantees it's only going to get crazier, and the first episode of the third arc goes along with that idea quite well.
So, is anyone else watching this? HINT: NO IS THE WRONG ANSWER.
And mark your spoilers, please. Preferably also where the spoilers are from.
