Time travel? Wonderful. Just... wonderful.
It is the old school turtles, Turtle Blimp and all! Also the two monsters flanking them in the shadows look like animated versions of the two mutations from the movie with Vanilla Ice in it.
Shredder: "Wolf....Snapping Turtle.....yessssss......"
It all goes downhill from there really.

See, I was joking, but as far as Peter Laird is concerned it's apparently 100% accurate.
After a grueling battle the TMNT were finding it hard to deal with their losses when suddenly the character retroactively ceased to exist; the Rat King had still destroyed their lair, but suddenly there were only four turtles again. [...] In a 2007 interview[1], director Kevin Munroe elaborated on the instructions Peter Laird gave to him for TMNT. Munroe admitted that among those rules was, "There’s absolutely no mention of Venus de Milo, the female Turtle. You can’t even joke about that with Peter. It’s just one of those things that he hates with a passion."

Venus in concept (a female turtle) could have been okay if they'd just handled it decently. The entire stereotypical Asian Engrish-speaker was a poor choice. If they'd handled it more like Angela from Gargoyles, as in a new female member of the team that everyone can adolescently compete over, it could have fit in with the whole teenage thing and been a bit more believable than throwing in the only known female of the species and everyone treating her like their long-lost fifth brother who just needs a few grammar tips on occasion.
Also, did they even bother to explain where she came from (other than apparently somewhere in Asia which by no means resembles anything true to modern life)?
That said, it's been years since I saw the movie, so my memory on the entire subject could be a bit off. I don't even remember what weaponry she used, so take this tirade with a grain of salt.
Edit: The snap? That was a SERIES? Dang! I thought it was a fifth movie!

The link above says the guys on the right are the original comicbook turtles.
I need more turtle van and technodrome.
But I am quite intrigued. One would think they would have to target it towards the older crowd who watched the original cartoons as it would confuse the new crowd who only know the new cartoons and would be like "These 'new' turtles are wacky as shits. Where are there radical boards and killer tude?" . But the new turtles are center poster so I don't know.

Statements like these make me feel like the entire franchise is a social experiment, I swear to Dog.
Chronologically it goes Not Really Wacky - Wacky - Not so Wacky. Appeals to "old schoolness" are silly in the context of praising the old cartoon versions as the original and the standard for ninja turtleness.
I think the project itself is too meta for me.

Easy, you put those elements in the most prominent spot that draw the most attention, from the most people, in the timeframe where the poster gets published. The older crowd still notices the old wacky Turtles easily.

Anyway, suggest you check out this YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T5iy1CMr--Q&feature=player_embedded). From what I've been hearing, they won't be having any of the original voice actors for the old school Turtles. Something to do with Union Vs. Non-Union actors.
The attached YouTube I think comes from Comic Con, but I didn't personally hear it, so I can't confirm. Anyway, it gives you an idea of what to expect.

WTF? But it's Cam fucking Clarke (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0164682/)! And to a lesser extent, Rob Paulsen (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0667326/). Here's the original series cast list at IMDB, for those too lazy to look it up: link (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0131613/fullcredits#cast).

I saw that CGI TMNT movie recently and it wasn't that bad, actually. I was fairly surprised. It fell apart by the end but up until that point I was entertained.
This looks like a straight-to-DVD thing at this point, though...or at least it should be.
But y'know. Sometimes. Four Turtles? Just not enough. I guess. Besides referencing the cross-dimensional team-up, this is also going to be the fifth movie, right? Y'know. After the fourth one. It's pretty punny.

I loved both series, though both most definitely tanked at the end, but I liked them for different reasons. I dont think they are compatable. The reason the shows both worked is the turtles fit with the world and storyline they were in and they weren't in the same world or storyline. Take them out of it and it wont work.
Though the basis of the characters are all the same, but thats basically why it wouldn't work on that level either. The fine details make them fit well with their setting, but the basics of who they are is the same, it would be just having the same four people twice. They are so much alike there wouldn't even be any interesting interplay between the characters.

Also, the Mirage turtles are the TMNT from the comics by Mirage studios.

Multi dimension crossover of the franchise. It's like Flintstones meets the Jetsons, but with Ninjas. With themselves. Or even worse the Alvin and the Chipmunks special where they met themselves. It sounds down right barmy just saying it.
I'm not saying it's not going to be entertaining, but I can't see this going any other way but being so awful it's going to be great.

Ah! I thought you meant the Mirage turtles in particular, because with this I agree. I mean, my suspension of disbelief has a hard enough time with talking, humanoid turtles trained in martial arts, but this just seems like it's going to break that suspension over its knee.

That Mirage comic is pretty horrifying. It looks like something that would occur in Frank Miller's wet dream.
"I wanted to have a hardcore, take-no-prisoners take on the Turtles. But I also wanted all the goofy stuff that made it the Turtles, such as the Turtle Van (don't worry, it has a spiked cowcatcher and whirling blades on the side) and a love of pizza (but topped with steroids and methamphetamines in order to give them a fighting edge)."
Also, I'm starting to think that, sometimes, twelve Turtles isn't enough. I'm sure there will be at least 16 Turtles in this. Maybe some of them will be evil Turtles from an evil dimension, though (the Mirage ones might fit).

Thing you gotta remember about that comic, it started off as a satire of comic books at the time (Frank Miller's work, particularly the Ronin series, and X-men) and at the same time was kind of valentine to Jack Kirby (Whom both the creators were fans of). And as time wore on and the comic became more popular, they did tone down on the amount of the ol' ultra-violence the turtles would dole out. They were the heroes of the comic and heroes don't just go around killing for no reason. Cept when it comes to the Foot, but fuck those guys.
And while I'm here rambling,
Might Turtles Forever settle the matter of which cartoon Raph might beat the other?

After about the second volume they turn much more goofy and funny, especially when the time-travelling ditzy blonde appears. EDIT: That's about the time they start saying "duuuuude" too.

Anyway I saw it today. And the whole cross over thing worked out very well. Both the 80s and original mirage comic turtles personalities were 98% faithful to their respective original sources. And it was kind of funny to learn that the TMNT's Eutron Shredder is not only the main big bad but the most dangerous, most violent, and most psychotic of all the Shredders. He even makes Mirage Comic's Shredder look like a joke in terms of threat level. Being that he almost succeeds in destroying the entire turtle multi verse had it not been for the most unexpected turn around that made me really, REALLY want to watch the 80s turtles again. I won't tell you guy what it was so you'll have to wait till next week or see if 4kids uploaded it on the net to see what happened.

Question: Is it true the anime Turtles are in the special?
They may have appeared earlier in the movie but I didn't see any anime style turtles during the second half of the movie. See I missed the first half of it so I'm not sure what you mean by the Anime Turtles. If your talking about them using the back to the sewers design for the TMNT turtles then no they didn't use them. They used there old TMNT season 1 designs with a bit of an artist quality boost.
However when Shredder was about to kill the TMNT and 80s Turtles, he did say that he discovered that there are many worlds filled with turtles along with showing them a small image gallery of each group of turtles although the images were too small to really make out.
After a bit of googleling I see what you mean. Again they may have appeared torwards the beginning, but I didn't see them during the last half of the movie.
