Why am i laughing so much?

My girlfriend ran out of Dexter, Supernatural, Fringe, LOST, Heroes and The L Word. She was starting to turn to Mental and True Blood... so i had to act fast and introduced her to Azumanga Daioh. A Anime i had not watched myself, but thought she would enjoy.

...We watched 14 Episodes in 2 Days this weekend.

There was not one episode were i didn't laugh, and now here i am wondering if i'm the only one who enjoy this stuff (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=69A3aL3Yrs0&feature=related)

Pyros enjoys Azumanga Daioh, as Pyros spent much schooltime JUST like Osaka.

That, and seeing Chiyo-chan get hurt is funny.

I read the manga back in December. Not quite sure how they managed to get 26 episodes out of just 4 volumes, but then again I don't doubt they managed it.

I have never sat down and watched the whole series, though. I've seen the first two episodes, and loved them, but I've never gotten around to watching the rest.

Around Episode 10 it kinda warps to a weird place were you just want to grab Sasaki up and give her a god damn nice kitty cat already. But it just gets better it's totally worth a watch.

That, and seeing Chiyo-chan get hurt is funny.

In that spirit...

In the manga, that's a whole chapter.

Yet I can see those four panels taking up two minutes without becoming annoying. Hence why I see no problems with AD being 26 eps long.

I got the entire series, and every so often break it out. Though I think seeing Chiyo-chan's post traumatic stress disorder kick in is always hilarious

School has like one normal teacher, Miss Yukari is, well this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l3B5bfhtxUQ&feature=related) sums her up.

Though tenur (however you spell it) is the only reason Kimura (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xo3Tpw-zLkM&feature=fvw) can still have a job.

tenur (however you spell it)Computer! Internet! Google! Maybe two extra keystrokes!

Azumanga, like many slice-of-life-moe-moe-comedies, is something I've watched parts of over Mike's shoulder while he watched it. So it's been a couple years since I watched it, plus I haven't seen the whole thing. However, Chiyo's dad is the greatest thing ever, especially in the context of Osaka's little dream about English. I can say this with the utmost confidence.

I've had the manga omnibus for a while, but I've just recently started going through it on my Mom's netflix.
She doesn't get it.

I think the animators followed the comic a little too closely over the first four episodes, from 5 on they start elaborating in a good way. Just watched the third disc today.

The first--and for a long time, only--anime I ever owned.

Once watched all of it in one night.

...Come to think of it, haven't watched it since...

I enjoyed the series somethin fierce. The only way I can describe why I like it would have to be: They're just...being people. No hokey romances, no superpowered demonchild junior high bully with a heart of gold that even the government fears to get on the bad side of..just a bunch of goofy kids goin their day to day business.

Sometimes it is nice to just get down to the simple things. I like that about Azumanga Daioh.

Yukari clearly used to be a driving instructor for WH40K's Orks. And yes, I love Azumanga Daioh.

I will never stop loving the Japanese version for having Norio Fucking Wakamoto playing the cat thing.

He's pretty much the best VA eva. Here, let me prove it.

I hadn't heard of Wakamoto before I heard him in Azumanga but just from the one episode he was in I thought he deserved to be famous.

Not at all: just a little late to the party. I'm glad to hear you and your girlfriend had a good time with it.

I think it helps that they are quick episodes, having been based on similarly brief shorts, that let them be goofy without ruining some kind of grand plot. The only thing I felt that was lacking from it all once I got done was their dating or similar adventures. We learn virtually nothing of the boys in their classes or their lives beyond class, field trips with Yukari, and sporting events. Oh well.

i was almost introducing my GF to Haruhi, but then i got thinking about how i would have to put the episodes in a certain order for her to be able to actually follow the plot without being nerd-crazy like myself... so i'm glad AZ.D. got in my hands first!

Also, Osaka can leap from cute to creepy in 0.1 seconds flat, which is always interesting to see...

But i'll say this: for all the amusing stories and tales, there was a point where i was getting sick of Cat stories. I mean, for god sakes just give the girl a pet already!

I heard they did that intentionally. The idea behind the characters was to show what side characters in a high school anime would be like on their own. As an example it would be like what would happen if you were watching Bleach, and the story completely omitted Ichigo, Orihime, anything involving the supernatural and just focused on the weird people they go to school with.

Though that would have defeated the point for the cat related stuff, being she cant have a pet

She's boring, though, at least when she's repeatedly putting her hand out there to get bitten, and those stories got old.

That joke did kinda run out of gas before they found a way to change it up, but when Kagura shows up she really gave the bit something new.

The funny part is that she is the most likely character to be a furry...

...there. I just ruined it for everyone.

I loved this show for being nothing more than charming story about a group of friends growing up through High School.

Also, Volleyball Scene. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ylrp0l7a10k&feature=related)
