Okay, because I like being overly verbose, and this might be confusing to some, let me explain everything in detail.

The guy who directed the first Haruhi season is nicknamed Yamakan, so that's what I'll call him for this.

Anyways, when Yamakan left Kyoto Animation, the Haruhi/K-On people, he started his own company, called Ordet. Well, Ordet has helped with some projects, but they've never spearheaded anything, until now. What they're spearheading is an anime PV, aka promotional video, for a Black Rock Shooter album that is out on September 30th.

Who or what is Black Rock Shooter? Well... Do you know who Hatsune Miku is? She's one of the voice types/mascot/icon for Vocaloid, a voice synthesizer program designed specifically for singing. She has attained idol status since her debut, which is pretty impressive for someone who doesn't exist. Anyhow, someone drew an alternate version of Miku with black hair, goth clothes, and guns. That is Black Rock Shooter.

Confusing, I'm sure, and I bet you're wondering why you should care, since it's just a promotional video for a CD you aren't really interested in. You should care because not only is it by Yamakan's studio, with his personal involvement in the project, but it is the pilot for a full anime series.

An anime series starring an alternate version of Hatsune Miku directed by the guy who did the good Haruhi season.

I am very excited.

My understadning of the Black Rock Shooter story is that he didn't specifically model her on anything or anyone, she just kinda happens to look like Miku, and some guy like the picture and made a song for it, and since she kind of looked like Miku they used her voice, and then they got together and made the video.

I don't know how much of that is true, but HOT DAMN BLACK ROCK SHOOTER ANIME! Is it sad that I think that this looks much more interesting than anything on the market today?

Also, same vid with subs. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kEPhzcXYn2E) THey get kinda hard to read if they aren't on HQ though.

Ok, so I've been wondering why the heck I should care about this since I first heard the name Black Rock Shooter, but I've only now gotten around to watching those the things you guys linked. So, I'm watching the video, thinking it's pretty, but also thinking "How does this turn into an anime that's anything but a generic action cartoon? I mean, sure the Haruhi guy's a good director, but they're not going to let him make a cartoon that looks like this video."

Then I watch Miku's frightening we-live-in-the-future concert, still wondering why I should care, when the preview comes up. And it looks like the music video, but with direction and purpose. And super-artsy violence is always good.

So, while I'm not squee-ing or anything, I think I'll watch this when it airs. Hopefully they have the budget (somehow) to keep up the quality for more than an episode.
