In 8-bit theather and warbot, each update is an independent strip an episode with a begining, a middle and a punch, and deserves a new forum thread.
HIKYM, however looks different. Every update so far was like a page in a graphic novel, not nesscerly independent and not always has a begining, a middle and a punch (although probably some sort of karate chop). Therefore, I don't think it's a nessecity to open a new thread for each update.
I could be wrong, of course and that is not the direction the comic is going to, but I would perhaps open a new thread each time a new scene or story arc begins. Maybe if a single thread gets too long one can lock it and open a "part two".
