So, after much pestering from friends I've finally caved in, and plan on watching the series. However, I know that the broadcast order was intentionally not the chronological order, and I just wanted to know how I should watch it, where I should start, etc. Could anyone be so kind as to give a noob a hand?

Wikipedia should have the broadcast order listed, which is the superior order, but I'm too lazy to look it up. Don't bother with Season 2, though, at least for the time being, and even then you'll probably want to skip more than half of it.

Oh, c'mon now. I'm fairly certain that Endless Eight will be looked back on fondly. Maybe not positively, like a "Man I remember watching that, that was awesome," kind of way, but a more "Man, I can't beleive I actually sat through that thing" kind of way.

At least that's how I remember stuff like Power Rangers. Worth watching through once for campiness's's's's's (Seriously how the hell would you write that) sake, but then you can't stomach any more of it.

Still, if one waits until it is over with one can freely skip through parts as they want. As-it-comes-out viewers are just getting hosed.

In any case, definitely watch it in the broadcast order, season 1 first. You can always watch it chronologically later if that didn't do anything for you. Regardless, the school fair/band episode is the best thing ever (not counting a few very key moments).

So, not only are the DVD's going to be only identified by the number of times it's looped, but there will be two Endless Eight episodes per disc, and they are charging the Japanese equivalent of almost $70 for them. Except for the last one. That one's only almost $50. Might be a little different after you factor in exchange rate or whatever, but they are so fucked. So very, very fucked.

I have to assume this whole thing is some high-placed executive acting out his grudge against the production team. Or possibly just deciding that this series was so good that somebody had to kill it, as the entertainment industry everywhere seems wont to do.

Seriously? That seems like paying for torture

I can not wait to see the DVD sales. I'm expecting sales almost as bad, if not worse, than the anime I posted the fish face from.

Hear Hear! As if people who do awesome things don't suffer enough just with trying to get their stuff out there...I mean Harry Potter's ok and all but Paranoia Agent is just way cooler and one of the more crazy animes out there but does it have the same status as ol' Harry? Also the same could be said for Arrested Development except replace "animes" with "most hilarious and well plotted out pieces of television ever conceived"

Just thought I should point that out...also Haruhi is awesome too

Executives kill whatever they don't like.

Case in point, Cartoon Network.

So I finished the first season, liked it, watched like four episodes of the second and said "fuck it." They waste eight episodes on that? Really?

Yes, yes they do. Last one aired today though, so that's a relief.

Wait, I know! Since you've already watched the first season, go read the books! They'll make you like Kyon a lot better than you already should, plus you get to watch the author backpedal after making Yuki way too strong. Plus, more Tsuruya.

Already on it. Liking the book more right now, so yay. So he freaks out that Yuki gets too strong, but the main character can warp reality? O_o

well nearest I can tell reality isn't really warped, its rewritten. Lets not forget, the entire universe is only 3 years old

Kyon was awesome until it became crystal clear that he was your regular run-of-the-mill nerd.

Isn't that why he's awesome?

No.

The first novels made it seem that he was just an average boy with an attitude and not really a care in the world. Then he starts going to otaku meetings and discussing manga and other nerd stuff.

Probably the author trying to relate to the audience. I haven't read the novels, so I can't really say whether it's good or bad personally.
