Figured we might as well have an anime thread for shows that didn't warrant their own threads.
Just finished both seasons of Black Lagoon. Although I didn't like the final arc of season two as much as the others, as I personally felt it went on too long, and I preferred the shorter one to three episode stories. The Hansel and Gretel arc hurts to watch. Great show, though. Certainly one of my favorite action shows, and the characters are awesome.
Decided to start watching the D. Gray Man anime despite my better judgement. It's like Bleach meets Fullmetal Alchemist or something. At least based on my absolutely minimal knowledge of Bleach. Has a badass emo vampire, though. So that's something.

From myanimelist:
Casshern Sins (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bdOubGFnfG8&fmt=18) (still): I stopped at episode 13. Gotta get back on track with that.
Dragon Ball Kai (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G0X33elLvmY&fmt=18): It's crap.
Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0eHtJUUKNSI&fmt=18) (piano version because Funi sucks!): ONLY TWO MORE EPISODES UNTIL IT GETS INTERESTING FUCKING FINALLY
Haruhi Suzumiya no Yuutsu (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yBS0AGgGTnQ&fmt=18): Finally back!
Michiko è Hatchin (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VclNO-aIuaI&fmt=18): Yeah, kinda lost track of it.
Seto no Hanayome (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XlTsZ_Y81xE&fmt=18): Because I was feeling like a romantic comedy was missing in my life.
Shikabane Hime: Kuro (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3mOqwhbLUZw&fmt=18): It's amazing how great this series became when the plot finally started to move along (more or less at the point where they start to pull a Gurren Lagann plot twist on you). I wanna blame GAINAX, but it was probably the source material's fault.
When I say I'm "watching" these I'm only really watching like two or three; the other are on-hold. I also finished Candy Boy, or that mini-series about a yuri incest couple that was surprisingly clean considering the premise.

So I'm currently watching
Hetalia: Axis Powers (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=10179) - Hilarious wtf-ery and cuteness abound.
The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (2009) (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=10924) - Waiting for more episodes. 'nuff said.
Eden of the East (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=10474) - Amazing. I can't believe it's over.
Romeo x Juliet (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=7087) - Currently working my way through this. I'm really liking it so far.
FMA: Brotherhood (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=10216) - Trying to watch this. Can't get past ep 3. I think I've just become disillusioned with FMA in animated form since the last anime and movie. I feel like just sticking with the manga unless someone can persuade me otherwise.
And I'm looking for some anime recommendations to force on Nique. :)
I'd be interested if anybody has an Giant Mecha or Real Mecha series that are good to watch besides Gundam and such.

And, I've never watched it, but I hear Macross is good.

I'd be interested if anybody has an Giant Mecha or Real Mecha series that are good to watch besides Gundam and such.Dai-Guard. It's about a security company fighting monsters with a robot that's essentially their company mascot. The robot is about as sturdy as a sedan.
This doesn't do the series justice, but it's one of those things where it's hard to explain why it's good without spoiling the good parts. It's only 26 episodes, give it a shot.
Also, Eureka Seven.
Edit: Oh, and I'm watching new Haruhi and FMA. I still haven't finished Nanoha A's; I'm not sure why.

I actually have Dia-Guard and loved it, the premise was excellent and I loved the focusing on the aspect after the battle with dealing with the damage it caused.
I haven't gotten around to buying Gurren Lagann yet and I saw Eureka 7 on tv once but i couldn't get into it. I own Evangelion and FMP plus I have Macross because I grew up with Robotech and as soon as I could get each version of Macross I got em.

One of the things I like about D. Gray Man, now that I think on it, is that although some of the character/enemy/monster designs would totally put people off, they are pretty unique. Everything has this goth clown vibe that I totally dig.
Another good thing is that, so far, the only character who gets strong when he's pissed is Allen, which makes sense as his weapon is actually a part of his body, whereas everyone else just wears theirs.

Eden of the East (counts because I'm waiting for the movies)
I thought Eden of the East was great, and I'm looking forward to the movies, but I'm still kinda frustrated that I have to wait for them to get a proper conclusion. Plus the ending felt a little lacking as a result.
Just finished ep 11 of D. Gray Man. I'd watch them quicker but obtaining them is a slow, painful process. I kinda wish they'd finished the Miranda Lotto arc by now, as it could have been finished by this episode, I think, but the show still moves at a decent pace. So far the only filler is filler that was actually funny and in the manga as well so whatever. Also, Road is pretty rad. I'm not sure how I feel about her voice, but she is amusing.
One thing I want to give this show props for is that there haven't been any panty shots. You'd think you'd see a bunch with Road or when Lenalee does her magical shoes transformation thingy, but it doesn't. I approve simply because too many anime try to ecchi overload any scene involving a female character, and it gets annoying.
Regarding Eden of the East, someone here mentioned that a character from it had a finger gun scene that put Spike from Cowboy Bebop to shame; but, I didn't really feel that way until the finale. Even with it being cliffhangertastic, the whole...
...one man, and his handy fighter pilot helpers in the sky, versus a shit-ton of missiles was damned awesome.
I can't wait until those movies are shipped out.

It's not that I don't like the first D. Gray Man OP (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=khhI2EdEbJE&feature=related&fmt=18). It's fine. It's that I'm at episode 21 and it's the same damn OP as at the beginning, and anime has spoiled me for wanting a new OP at least every thirteen episodes.
Found out that the anime is on hiatus because the manga was temporarily on hiatus because the creator was injured or sick or something, and the anime didn't want to do stupid filler shit. Which I can respect. Sucks that I'll have to wait, though.
I was a little annoyed about the filler they put in to make me wait for the emo vampire arc, but I got over it. I call Crowley an emo vampire, but looking at his situation he has every reason to be in all sad and stuff.

So Dragonauts: The Resonance is a pretty good anime and by "pretty good anime" I mean tits.
...It's not even so much size as the noticeable degree of attention and craft that has been put into creating each unique pair of gigantic boobies; there is honestly more effort is put into characterizing them than for any of the show's actual characters.
Storywise it is a passable excuse for some decently cool action scenes up until like half or 2/3 of the way through when it just gets retarded, I think by the end I was kind of rooting for the power of love and friendship to shut the fuck up and die.

The animation is great, the story is a tad more mature but it's pretty much the same "north" the original had. So far, so good. If they keep the quality it should be fun to watch. It's worth a look if you like Greek Mythology, Shonen, and People with shiny armors exploding the crap out of each other
The only disturbing part is that Athena has scarely big boobs for a Pre-Teen greek chick.

A new show that just started up recently now has subs for episode one, it's called Umineko No Naku Koro ni.
Some of you may be thinking "That sounds familiar" well if you've watched Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni, now you know why.
Now, I haven't watched it. But I am in the process of obtaining it as we speak, and I've read the translated episodes of the Visual Novel it's based on, and if the show is even half as good it is well worth a recommendation.
The story follows Ushiromiya Battler and his family as they have their yearly family conference. As the relationship to Higurashi might have already made clear people start dying.
Assuming of course that it follows it well enough, you can expect highly suspenseful roller coaster of drama and peril, great character interactions, and some absolutely jaw droppingly fantastic music.

Also there are rumors that another side-story from Saint Seiya ( Next Dimension ) will get it's anime version in 2010. If all goes right, they might give Episode G a try too, which would be awesome!

Just finished Eureka Seven movie. Longer than I expected. Reuses some old scenes, but 95% new, I'd say. Very, very different from the series. It was... good. I expect if I had never seen the original series I'd like it a lot more, but it just wasn't nearly as good as the series. Lame rainbow and Eureka has amnesia ending was vastly inferior to moon graffiti as well. Worth a watch, but the series is so much better.

My turn to give my thoughts on Pocket Full of Rainbows. It succeeded as an Eureka Seven movie in that it went for a ride on the same emotional roller coaster as the series, just much faster. Otherwise, since it's a different universe, it's not the same characters, so I got this weird dissonance from watching people who looked and acted like characters I care about, but weren't those characters.
I wasn't disappointed, because I expected a weird movie, but it was a really weird movie.

About 200 years prior to the Main canon story. But Shion, Dohko and Mu are in there, Mu as a Kid, Shion as the Aries Golden Saint and Dohko before he learned that thingamaboob that made his heart beat 1/100th of it's normal rate. But overall so far, is on par or better than the main story.

One thing I like is that most villains in this type of show are just all "Fuck it" and kill anyone in their way. Kamelot Road makes a teacher who's students were murdered by a demon watch that same scene until he went insane and could only sing the song she was singing in the meanwhile.

I'm actually liking the Eureka 7 movie less and less the more I think about it. I don't think it'll get to where I dislike the movie, but, to sum up what I'm about to write, it's very vaguely like Eureka fanfiction. Also, there are going to be spoilers for both the series and the movie mixed into this. It's like someone wanted to write a story with the characters, but didn't really know how to write a story, so they accidentally just copied Eureka Seven's most basic plot (Renton meets a non-human named Eureka, falls in love, joins Holland, resolves to protect Eureka from anything, then gains the means to do so and does so). However, it is severely lacking in how it presents these and other ideas, like Holland being a scared child and Eureka being a Coralian. Holland's childishness is shown by his actions in the series, like avoiding the Voderak holy land for 30 episodes because he's threatened by not being the guy who will save the world like he thought he was and beating the crap out of Renton. The only time this is verbally acknowledged is in the episode where the crew sends Renton out on the joke mission with Moondoggie recording, when, after a theme of the episode being "being cool," Holland says to himself "I'm so uncool." In the film, he's a 17 year old with aging sickness. Comparatively, it's a little ham-fisted. Let us now compare the reveal that Eureka isn't human and the accompanying Renton loving her anyway. In the series, at first all that's suggested is she's very strange and important to the military. Then she and Renton go into the Kute coralian and Renton's all "Double-u Tee Eff, Holland?" when they get back. Finally it's revealed that she's the same type of thing (is this after good times in a trapar mine? I gotta watch the show again). Anyway, after all that build up, Renton's like, "Eureka's Eureka, no matter what else she is." Cue Eurkea, me, and Regulus crying tears of joy like girls. As for the movie, I can sum it up with "Spy Robot," but I'll add on Renton's sentiment that he doesn't care if she's a spy robot being replied to with "You're the only one who feels like that." I mean, it's still romantic-ish, but it's more tragic than anything, especially the cold way Eureka says it.
The tragic part is another thing that bugs me. The series has it's share of sadness and no-win situations: Ray and Charles (no kid, Renton can't stay, Holland fucking kills them, etc.), the kid pissing himself when he sees Eureka's eyes after his town is eaten by Coralians, Diane and Adrock can never come back, the Voderak girl dying because of anti-Voderak sentiment due to Voderak terrorists blowing up a hospital, Desperation Disease, I can go on. These things build a world around Renton and make him grow. He's the main character; it's important. However, in the movie, stuff like the goals of Renton and Holland not matching, and Happ and Stoner being A-holes and getting killed are, or sorta seem to be, plot devices forgotten at the end to make a happy ending because, hey, the series had a happy ending (remember that I'm comparing this to beginner fan-fiction to properly understand that last clause). Holland and Renton have this huge climactic, totally awesome to watch and part of why I can't dislike this movie fight over their ideals, Holland's being creating Neverland and Renton's being Eureka gets to stay human-shaped and existent. They're trying to kill each other (which really doesn't make sense from Holland's goals, but whatever). Skip ahead, boom, Gekko-go coming in to pick up Renton and Eureka. Renton should have been at least tense that they might be coming to kill him for making Neverland unattainable, but, nope, smiles and cheek kisses all around.
My final gripe are the things that look the same but aren't the same. This post is long enough already, so I'll just list these for the most part and trust you to understand: Anemone's medicine, ref boards and the Gekko-go (not enough trapar to work), Dr. Bear, Anemone, Image, Nirvash, maybe KLFs in general, there's probably more. The problem is that these thing confuse what they are in the series. Anti-Desperation Disease drug or anti-aging drug? Human connected to the Skub Coral or Coralian spy robot? Living, mindless chunks of Skub Coral in armor and controls, possibly made as a communication device; or faeries of an unknown origin in armor and controls? That sort of thing.
The point is, the movie lacks subtlety and realistic characterization, as well as confusing stupid people, creating the posibility of me having to listen to their stupidity "and they have proof." I was going to say it's unfair to compare those first two traits between a 50-episode show and a two-hour movie, but, well, I'll just go with the first Pirates of the Caribbean movie as something that's well liked here and at least covers characterization better. The stupid people thing is just the internet sucks and I wonder why I included it. Now, for the plot being similar, I know that kinda is the plot, trying to "recreate the legend," alternat-universe, etc. However, I will say that I don't like that they settled on that for the plot for the movie. We could have had an extension that lets us know what's up with the gang after the show (though only fans of the show would want to watch such a film, I think). We could have had an alternate universe that didn't intersect with the series universe with any kind of story, as long as it involved the crew and surfboarding robots. Either of those would be cool, and the second probably would have been just as good for non-fans and better for fans of the series. And that's enough, I think. That has to be the most I've written here in years, and I haven't even gotten through everything. However, it took three beers to get from the first sentence of this post to here, so I think it's best to cut it there. This won't be on the test, so you can leave if you like. See you next class. Questions?

On the subject of D. Gray Man: I am getting sick and tired of all this damnable filler. I enjoyed the D.Gray Man Manga, I'll have to check out the show then. Is the filler volume on par with DBZ though? Cause that may drive me away.

I dunno. Never really got into DBZ. Some of the filler is enjoyable on account of being funny or just a good watch, but it's frustrating when you're looking forward to something from the manga and you get a bunch of filler in a row.

Hajime no Ippo: New Challenger is still entertaining as shit, and doesn't take its sweet ass time going to the next badass thing. It's very bothersome waiting for the next fight to start from the excitement.
Asura Cryin' is finished (I think), but the sub hasn't been released yet. It was a pretty good watch.
Still watching FMA: Brotherhood, which so far is pretty much FMA, though I hear that changes sometime soon (never read manga.)
Everyone should watch Hajime no Ippo. It's the most epic anime I have seen.

Kaze No Stigma is kind of weird in that it's basically about a dude who is driven out of his home, goes on a quest around the world to achieve ultimate power, successfully does so, and then the actual anime starts, right with him getting back home to rub his jerk family's noses in what a badass he is now.
Also Claymore is some craaaaaaaaaaaaazy shit although the ending is kind of fucking dumb.
The protagonist is bar none the best part of that show.
He fucks around with everybody and they all just have to fucking take it because he's the God of Wind incarnate.
it's great.

There's apparently a new show called Taisho Yakyuu Musume set in 1925 and about two high school girls who decide to organise a baseball team. I'm sold.
It is also goddarn cute as hell: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yn_dEuHYi-A&fmt=18

On that description, I decided to try out Kaze No Stigma and it's exactly as you described. I likes it.
Claymore would have been even cooler if they didn't stop short with a crappy ending and just wait and make a season 2( which it's still in the running and getting crazier as it goes along)

A summary of the shows I'm watching
Canaan = WTF I don't get it. People start going batshit suicidal the moment they are exposed to light, Canaan has Altair's Eagle Eye, and synesthesia apparently is worked into the plot with no real indication of how
NEEDLESS = Scryed with more comedy, more over-the-top retardation (the good kind), and less badassery (no really, Lost Ground = Black Spot, HOLY = Simeon, Kanami = Cruz (except he's more of a bitch), and Kazuma = Blade (except he's not nearly as badass)
Haruhi 2 = ENDLESSEIGHTENDLESSEIGHTENDLESSEIGHTENDLESSEIGHTEN DLESSEIGHT
Hayate = eh. It's alright.
Umineko no Naku Koro ni = Pretty good show so far with an interesting cast of characters (except for the old fogey who likes to walk out to the veranda and yell "BEATRICE!!!!" all the goddamn time and the fucking annoying loli whose names I can't remember right now). It's fun to watch the dysfunctional family's infighting over the family fortune. I think the story is going to revolve around the family being trapped on an island while looking for a leprechaun's hidden pot o' gold witch's hidden stash of ten tons of gold (how are you going to get that off of an island with no problems at all seriously...). Oh and people are going to die while they are on the island apparently. Finger's crossed that the loli dies first.

Have you seen Higurashi no Naku Koro ni? If that's any indication, it doesn't matter who dies first, as they'll all die multiple times. And, in any case, the loli will mostly likely be the one doing the killing.

Ummmmmm.... If you already read the visual novels and know what's going to happen already, what's the point of watching a show like this anyway? >.>; You can keep your prior knowledge. I would like to be surprised by my animes thank you.
Also, Bakemonogatari makes almost noooo sense, but it is soooo pretty. Something about a random dude getting stapled in the mouth by a random chick and random Buddhist/Shinto/whateverreligion mythical references and random anime references and WTFITSSOPRETTY. And it strangely feels like SZS. Dunno if that makes sense, but it makes more sense once you realize that both are made by SHAFT.

You can flip whatever tables you want. I'm still laughing.
Wait, shouldn't that be "Flip the chessboard"?

What, I'm not allowed to watch my favorite scenes animated with better art just because I know whats going to happen?

I'd really recommend watching it. Regardless of whether or not you end up liking it, it's definitely one of those shows that everyone should at least see if they enjoy it.
I think my favorite part was where the enemy brags about how super strong his attack is and how not even God could withstand it or some such, and Blade responds by breaking the attack and laughing at how that must mean he's stronger than God.
Also, I just realized that Blade isn't so much Mega Man as a Blue Mage. Blade makes Blue Magic badass.

No, but he is a priest (Or at least has crosses on his jacket), and priests are probably only a few degrees of separation from being mages. So he's got that going for him.
So, just started the first ep of Zan Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei. I'm not sure if I like Ringo Mogire Beam yet. I shall reserve judgment until we get an actual opening to go along with it. Probably around episode three or four.
Animation style seems a little different, but it's nice. I also love how they brought back Fujyoshi's athleticism. In fact, they're using all the little details about the characters really well this episode.

So I got back on track with the shows I left unfinished last year.
Casshern Sins 14 was viciously good. And it seems like Casshern got out of his depression! Finally.
Michiko e Hatchin 7 had amazing music and a wonderful little romance. I'm beginning to like this show again.

At the moment, the only Anime I can honestly claim to be watching is Bleach.
I got the parents to put Azumanga and Excel Saga in the netflix queue, though.
