Not as bad as the last one, but still sad.

How did he manage to get that party hat on the top of his head? He only has wee little Dinosaur arms!

Humor trumps logic!

Also, man, people are gonna look at this in the years to come and wonder what was wrong with our society.

I don't know maybe Im just not sophisticated enough for the style of humor in this comic or whatever but other than the first one that made me chuckle I have not gotten laughs out of any of these comics.

Happy birthday Warbot!
Even though you were born like four weeks ago. I really don't want to think what term can be used about that time when Brian and Zack begin to made Warbot. I really don't want to know.

He needs to look more helpless and vulnerable.

Also, add more snow.

One day I'm going to figure out how Warbot can write banners and on-line ads and ace job interviews and all that sort of thing when we're not looking, but on panel is generally inept at everything and apparently absolutely unable to communicate in any way. I bet it's like one of those quantum phenomena that change depending on if they're observed.

Also, I hope they have some wars or something for Warbots to fight so they don't have to inevitably turn to mass murder in order to feel some sort of validation. :x

Warbot in Accounting: Brian's weekly attempt to either make you laugh or bum you out. Either one is good.

So far, I have done nothing but both.

If something happens to Warbot that mirrors an event in your life, you'll feel for him more then other Warbot comics that you don't relate too.

From now on I'm gonna imagine Warbot knows how to talk, but can't because of his crippling social anxiety.

Poor warbot (that was really sad).
I feel like you're making fun of handicapped persons. And to make me enjoy it makes me evil, too!
I hope it doesn't end getting a shotgun and going postal.

NonCon
04-23-2009, 06:01 AM
Why would he get a shotgun? He has a gun-arm.

Actually, based on what I've seen, the fact that he has a gun arm seems enough reason for Brian to make him go get a gun, though I highly doubt the comic is going in that direction. Warbot is too good-hearted to go postal.

Eldezar
04-23-2009, 09:29 AM
So, would this mean Warbot is officially 8 years old now, and will his birthday forever be somewhere between April 15-22, or does the date posted not have anything to do with the date in the comic?

Kurosen
04-23-2009, 09:49 AM
The comics are not necessarily in chronological order. I should add that to the FAQ.

You know I never thought I'd empathize with a robot any more than I did with Marvin (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marvin_the_Paranoid_Android).

Also didn't think that Warbot would be enough to keep me around after 8-bit but I'm think that it actually might.

I feel for him in this one especially. Today was my birthday, and it was the first one I've had to work on, and the only one where a party wasn't soon after. :(

That introductory paragraph on TV Tropes is embarassingly much better than the entire trinity of 8BT Wikipedia articles.

Wait, Red Mage's last name is Statscowski? I've got like most of the archives part-memorized and I've never heard that.

This is probably the best use of fanon becoming canon yet.

Kurosen
04-28-2009, 11:02 AM
Yeah, the Wikipedia articles are really over-written and clunky.

Does Statscowski count as "fanon" since I'm the one who came up with it?

Mirai Gen
04-28-2009, 11:16 AM
I don't remember where you did that, I thought just BM and Fighter had their silly last names.

Kurosen
04-28-2009, 11:17 AM
Someone speculated in the forum what Red Mage's name would be based on Fighter and Black Mage's, and I said it's obviously Statscowski. It's never been mentioned in the comic though.

Mirai Gen
04-28-2009, 11:25 AM
Oh! Okay that makes sense, then, I think I probably missed that.

Meister
04-29-2009, 04:20 AM
As soon as the comic's over I'm gonna sit down with those articles and cut them down to size. I keep meaning to do it but within five minutes of editing I'll invariably have come across ten factoids that I can't decide yet if they're important or not. Like, once I know for sure the thing about Black Mage's heartfelt letter to White Mage will never come up again (or has come up again), it can go out (or get edited).

EDIT: not sure if I'd call something canon just because it's on Wikipedia; anyway the gist of the Statscowski argument is obviously "the creator said it so it must be true just like how Dumbledore is gay." I'm pretty sure it's an old problem in professional literary criticism - should you take the author's notes into account or just the work itself -, and I'm also pretty sure professional critics have gone into physical altercations over it and it's not a problem that's going to be solved on the discussion page of a Wikipedia article about a Final Fantasy sprite comic.

Mirai Gen
04-29-2009, 07:44 AM
Given how seriously 8-Bit Theater takes itself I think I'm okay with that sort of thing, IE, how come Red Mage's hat is a +5 at one point and a +3 later, "A wizard did it."

Also, I just found someone's already added Warbot to the list of examples (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Woobie/WebComics), so it's not just me that thinks this.

That was me. I'm glad someone noticed. I've been obsessed with that site ever since the comic where Ranger's wife was stuffed in a fridge and someone linked the page that quotes Brian from the thread about it.

I considered making a page for Warbot, but I prefer just to make smaller edits.
