So, after an agonizing wait, LOST returns to us with two new episodes to kick off 2009 and season 5, which will obviously do nothing but not answer any significant questions but still, somehow, affix our eyeballs to it and make us wonder what is up.
Anyone else excited?
I hear they are going back to the island according to all the previews. I don't really watch Lost so I had no idea they had left the island in the first place. I'm sure them being drug back will open a whole new can of wormy questions for all you Lost fans to chew over.

The show is still shcedule to end on season 7 right? If so, now it's season 5. So we should be getting the first batch of answers

I'm hoping they stop the flash fowards and make the few years ahead the current time. Then throw in what happened on the island the new flashbacks. Because otherwise things will get unnecessarily confusing (Given, it is now, but that's because of plot, not presentation)

I still say that Jack Shephard is the autistic kid from St Elsewhere and the whole thing is in his mind.
Think about it, it answers everything.

I would assume this is how things will go down, seeing as the flashforwards got caught up with Season 3's Finale by the Season 4 Finale.
So glad that I don't have to wait till February.

The creators specifically stated St. Elsewhere when they said it will not end up as allll a dream.

I think they're running both the "present" (on the island) and the future (off the island) as concurent storylines. Though they have said that these next few seasons will see less and less flashes of any kind.
Unfortunately I don't get any channel that airs this, so I have to wait for the dvd. It is quite irritating.

Actually its 6 seasons... originally if you listen to the season 1 DVD they said they have enough story for about 100 episodes which is around 5 seasons...
Which then became 6 seasons due to deciding to have shorter 16 episode seasons.
So in truth, Lost is really only lasting 5 regular TV show seasons.

I wonder how many people are going to get hit in the back of the head in today's episode.
Also, does the premier start at 8 pm eastern, or is that the recappy shit?

God, I'm so glad I finally get to see an intriguing, and seemingly competently done, time-travel story on TV for the first time since...I dunno, I don't usually watch that much sci-fi.
Sad to see Neil Fogurt die though (he knows Mauve shirts shouldn't talk so much), but it was a pretty cool way to die.
Also, have one of you infiltrated the A.V. Club's message board? I keep seeing YodaDog there and it's creepin me out.

I'm getting the feeling that the entire plot will revolve around time travel now, and the answer to every question ever will be "time travel." Aside from that I rather enjoyed the first episode, and the second was decent enough.
Also just calling it now, Ms. Hawking is Dan's mother.

The thing I liked best about the episodes was Richard Alpert's small revelations. Locke and him are obviously island chosen time travellers, and the Compass he gave Locke is something he's going to give to Alpert in the past, who then presents it as a test to Locke to see if there's anything special about it etc etc.
This is probably one of the first times a show has done time travel right.

I watched bits of S1 but I HAD to stop. I'm planning on watching all the available seasons on DVD because I refuse to be jerked around week after week. GOD I HAVE SO MANY OTHER THINGS TO WORRY ABOUT BESIDES THIS fake TV ISLAND BUT I NEED TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS OMGOMGOMGOMGOMG!1!

...Wow.
I totally forgot about Alpert showing child-Locke a compass.
Damn this show is good.

I've been going over and over and over stuff in my mind about the show...
First of all I've always known that the white tennis shoe in the first scene was important people didn't believe me but I know it's true! It's counter part has shown up on an important character's foot!
I too forgot the compass...Maybe all of the things he presented Locke were things
Locke himself had given him...
Finally the show will start giving answers since season six is the last one...it's going to be a fun down hill ride though! Also does anyone else think Jin isn't dead?
Also to Kaneda and anyone else interested: I thought so too but...1. why are their surnames different? I mean if other characters are any indication then Dan had father issues so why would he keep his father's name? 2. why doesn't she ask Ben how her son is. 3. she doesn't seem to be all that gifted at mathematics she's using a computer to do stuff Dan can do in his head. 4. She wasn't at Oxford like Dan said she would be she was in some church. 5. Why would he tell Desmond to go to her if Ben already knew her. There would be no need (if he knew what she was doing then he's know who she (Hawking) would be doing it with). All in all it would just be too easy for Hawking to be his mother...and If Lost is about anything it sure isn't easy solutions!
