Okay, so the second TV series said he was actually sixty or so years old, and some kind of super dog. It was also revealed that he had some kind of low-end telepathy going on that allowed him to understand people, read, and just generally be awesome. So so far we have a nameless, seemingly immortal, super intelligent dog who has a telepathic field to translate for him. This dog travels around and helps people, occasionally with companions.
In the original series/movie, the Hobo was a typical alsatian German shepherd. The second Hobo, however, had a coat-type that looked almost husky-ish. I forget the name for it. However the show makes it clear that they are the same dog. Taking into account what I said previously, the explanation for this seems clear: The Hobo is a Time Lord. He regenerated.
Think about it; there are at least a few Doctor Who episodes and books which have suggested (or outright said in some of the novels) that a Time Lord is something you become, not something you're born as. Taking that into account, why should the title be available only to humanoids?
Anyone else ever watch that show? I loved it, and ever since I first discovered Doctor Who, I've always pictured the Doctor and Hobo running into each other for an episode.
