So whaddaya think? Is the series worth a third go? I liked the first two, and heard that it was going to be a trilogy... but at the same time didn't look into it. Now that I know that there's a third one, and the title is "Rise Of The Lycans," and almost all of the characters from the first two movies are dead, it asks the question: what's gonna happen in this one?

It feels like a prequel to me, not a sequel, so the first characters probably aren't born.

Edit: Yup. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0834001/faq#.2.1.2

Honestly I was pretty disappointed with the second one and I have never been a big fan of prequel movies(Can't think of a good one). I'll pass on the theater and if I hear good things I can Redbox it.

On the one hand these have been decent enough movies by the standard of 'worth watching when it comes out on HBO'.

On the other hand 1. Kate Beckingsdale was like 80% of the reason for that and she's not in it, and 2. I don't know that there's enough mystery in the backstory to make me care about a prequel, especially considering that the big reveals in the second movie were all to the effect that the first movie's backstory was pretty much built on a foundation of bullshit from the get-go.

I have to wonder how many times they're going to make Underworld sequels before White Wolf just up and does it right.

We're talking about 'right' in the sense of World of Darkness, mind you, but still.

It's the other movies with vampires around, so if you need a male version of Twilight you might want to check it out...

I was left with a taste of "meh" in my mouth after the first one, and the second one was just dreadfull (like... "Resident Evil 3: Oh Noes Zeh Tombies!" dreadfull) so i have barely no faith in this pushover of a prequel...

However, i havent barely even checked the trailer for this one, so, im biased as all hell. Still... this is what i see for this movie "Twilight for men"

y'know ... if WW makes a Mage the Ascension world, it would be a 2 hour jerk-off fest of mages going "I deny your reality and embrace my own". It will be kinda like Jumper, but with more witchcraft... you know that, right?

I'd love to see someone bust that line out in like, a light romantic comedy.

...Come to think of it, Vince Vaughn could totally make it work.

I'm pretty sure that Twilight for Men would actually just be three hours of lesbian, vampire porn.

You're forgetting Let the Right One In. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Let_the_Right_One_In_(film))

The official movie trailer. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1IN3zD-utfA)

Seems like it's more about Lucian and him leading a werewolf rebellion. Sounds kinda cool, as there are too few good werewolf movies that aren't pure camp. And seriously, werewolves are the only things that matter.

You mean The Covenant? (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z2y4bl07A7Q)

Have you seen the other Underworld films? The only hope this has is being pure camp. Otherwise I see another terrible faux-goth film. Not as bad as Blood & Chocolate, but probably too close to be good.

Blood And Chocolate enrages me - it was a semi-okay werewolf book. What they turned it into is just crap on a stick.

That being said, it sounds like this shoulda been the first movie, then the next two.

Didn't the name kind of clue you in? It certainly did me and the rest of the audience - I don't think anyone was not laughing when the title came up in the theater.

The book did not deserve the movie.

You see... now i hate you for showing me that, but i hate myself more for actually not being able to unsee this trailer. When i said "jumper with witchcraft" i didnt know somebody was actually stupid enough to do it... but there it is!

It's especially horrible because you'd think Mage the Ascension was just a solid gold concept - guy randomly discovers that he has magic powers. Someone drops by and explains the rules of the World of Darkness. He tries to make his own life in the new rules. Gets caught up in something huge. Tie in a romantic interest at some point, maybe she is or isn't aware of what's happening. Big climactic final battle with some Sabbat vampires and a mage running the show.

Cliche, sure, but lord anything is better than The Covenant.

Y'know but that's probably what is going to happen. WW will release a "World of Darkness" movie, and say it's a trilogy... one for Vampires, one for Werewolfs and one for mages. Each focused in their own unniverse but with elements of the other 2 running around... it will probably be as good as the D&D movies, but it will make a couple dozen millions...

Underworld is was so long ago at this point I don't see why they haven't started already.

I love how all this talk of Underworld isn't just changing the banner adds to goth/vampire stuff, but is actually changing the very nature of some of the adds we already get.

Doesn't the normal IMVU add usually just have two girly looking boddies rubbing up against eachother?

Better than the stupid "M eet G oth S ingles Now" ads that have been coming up.

Spaced out to avoid getting more of them.

Why the hell am i getting ads for Stainless Steel railings and Windows 95!??!

on a different note... it really bugs me that every lousy movie out there caries a "Every X has an Y" tagline, and ths one is no exception

I keep getting matchmaker ad's.

...Matchmaker, matchmaker make me a match! Find me a find! Catch me a catch!

That being said, at least this will give Nighy some more screen time. And the scene of the werewolves storming... what I guess is Vikto's place, did look pretty cool. Lucian and the werewolves are awesome - werewolves are some of my favorite mythological beast.
