View Full Version : Ms. Frizzle... Wizard?
Now we've all watched The Magic Schoolbus, and I have to ask - is Ms. Frizzle a wizard? I mean, she has a magic schoolbus, a sentient lizard and an incredible wardrobe. It just makes sense. I mean, you'd need wizardly powers just to put up with the constant

A wizard? Yes. An epic level one.
She is also, incidentally, completely fucking batshit bonkers.

Really, she has to be insane. I think the episode where we learned about the reproductive cycle of chickens was hilarious, especially how it kept avoiding saying "sex" for 30 minutes.
It's unfortunate they put this show on before school because inevitably one would have to compare the 7 hours of drudgery ahead of them with the spectacular lava ride the kids on the show got to go on.

She might just be a really mad scientist. She could have built the bus out of, like... the stuff the Transformers are made of and given it some sort of brain. And she could have grown Liz out of a vat after mixing reptile DNA with that of a human to make a smart lizard.
Oh damn, I just had an idea. Live-action Magic School Bus. I only say this because I had a wicked image of the bus transforming.

I'm thinking she just multiclassed.
Seriously though, their school system has some kind of budget. Or she's funding these things out of her own pocket.

Of course she's a wizard of some sort. It's a magic school bus, not "remarkably technologically advanced school bus."

She didn't just put up with Arnold, she once had to put up with JANET for a whole episode. And if any of you remember the details of the "Lost in Space" episode, you realize what an incredible feat that is.
On the topic of that episode, Arnold freezing on Pluto fucking terrified me as a child.

Wasn't it Phoebe who couldn't get past the fact that she was no longer at her old school and move on with her life?
That and Dorthy-Ann. I'm amazed one of the other kids didn't just push her out of the bus when they were in that one kid's intestines or something.

There was a magic schoolbus CARTOON?
I remember the books and the videogames. But a cartoon? Surely that will just be batshit insane.
I don't know whether idea repulses or entrances me.

You know, upon rewatching the one where they go inside that kid's body, I've realized that this show closely mirrors LSD trips..

In elementary school we watched an episode every Friday. It was really cool in that we got to watch it, but totally sucked because it only accentuates how much real school actually fucking blows. Speaking of which, only 8 months of High School to go!!!!

I remember the books and the videogames.Haha, oh man, we had the human body game. And, like, when you were in the intestines you could click on lumps of things and they would tell you what they used to be! I still occasionally think "broccoli broccoli broccoli" to myself...
I used to tape the show for my younger siblings, but I was never all that into it. Too old at that point, maybe? *checks* Nope, I take it back, it was 14 years ago (seriously? that long ago?), so I was ten when it came on. Guess I was more interested in watching stuff like The Tick at that point...

Wizard? Nah. I'd say she's some sort of knowledge elemental, or possibly an avatar of Athena or something.

Oh god, that show (and Bill Nye) is why I know/love anything science related at all. Mythbusters pretty much fills that gap in my life now.
They made a couple of video games, I had most of them. Poking Arnold's brain always worried me a little though, I didn't feel it was entirely a good idea.
Was there a point where Arnold's cousin was stuck on Uranus? If so, BEST GAME EVAR.

She's not a wizard, she's a Time Lord.
Best show ever, by the way. Though I have been feeling pretty nostalgic for Arthur lately.

Miss Frizzle is really one of Dr. Who's regenerations.

So does that mean the MSB is actually a broken down TARDIS?

It occurs to me that the fact that it is a MAGIC schoolbus creates all kinds of paradoxes with the fact that it is a show about SCIENCE. At best it places Ms. Frizzle in the realm of Alchemy.

Aw man, now I'm gonna be singing/quoting that theme song for the next month or so. Thanks man :stressed:
I remember the one where they had to win a pinball game by splitting up into different wavelengths. That shit was crazy.
I'd say if anything she was an epic artificer, thus explaining her psudo-science way better than your average "a wizard did it."

Any significantly advance technology is indistinguishable from magic

*shutters* Few things disturb me, and that was one of them. Only scene in my childhood that matched it was that episode of Invader Zim where that kid gets his eyes ripped out.
Ok now to be on topic so I can put that out of my mind.
Didn't they once spend like an entire episode trying to figure out what she was? I think the final conclusion leaned towards alien
