Fact - Witch Hunter Robin and Escaflowne are the awesome. I dare anyone to contradict me.
I mean, one has a robot mech that turns into a robot dragon with great music, and the other has superpowers with a plot and cool music.

Your title, when used in conjunction with Vision of Escaflowne, confuses me.
Regardless, both quality shows. Never saw as much of WHR as I should have, but VoE is one of my favourites. High quality; Yoko Kanno is a brilliant composer.
I meant "The Newest Anime Thread On NPF" but got lazy typing in the title.

Escaflowne is pretty awesome. Haven't watched that Robin thingy though.
Since this is the new anime thread I might as well post what I'm watching this season, taken from my anime list, which is linked to in my signature:
Candy*Boy - Two words: Yuri incest (fuck you guys I'm not linking to yuri incest).
Casshern Sins (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KdMxeQSaq6g) - Starring our favourite guy from Tatsunoko VS Capcom, Sins is a reimagining of the classic Neo-Human Casshern. In this version, however, he has become an amnesiac assassin who cannot resist his instincts of killing everything that threatens him. Full of angst and fluid-yet-classy animation, it is easily my favourite show of the season.
Dennou Coil (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ecrDFu-bzt8) - Actually from last year, Dennou Coil tells the story of a group of girls acting as cyber-detectives. Mantra for this task are their glasses, which let them link themselves to the cyberspace and interact with the happenings in it. The animation is downright gorgeous.
Michiko to Hatchin (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VclNO-aIuaI) - From the studio that brought you Samurai Champloo and Ergo Proxy, and with tunes provided by anime legend Shinichiro Watanabe (Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo) comes a very entertaining concept: Foxy convict escapes from a Brazilian prison to rescue a ten year old girl from the grasps of a cruel despot Catholic priest. Police then chases the duo across the land as they get into wacky adventures.
Nijuu Mensou no Musume (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hSKhRDaxbk4) - I MEAN, SERIOUSLY, WTF?!! WHY HASN'T THIS SHIT BEEN FINISHED SUBBING YET!?! THIS CAME OUT IN THE SPRING GODDAMMIT.
Nodame Cantabile: Chapitre Paris (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RYuwRpgelMI) - Thank God; they're continuing to animate the manga. More classical music anime spliced with romantic comedy hijinx, yes! Plus, the ending song is beautiful (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bu7LPyK60Yc).
Shikabane Hime: Aka (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XTCLSQ499wI) - Another GAINAX adaptation that hopefully won't suck. A "corpse princess" has to get out and kill 108 other "corpses" or some shit. All I know is that the promotional images contained a schoolgirl with a machine gun and that rocks my socks off. FUNimation's youtube channel is subbing it, by the way (http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=D51657A91704E730).
Tales of the Abyss (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=15-L6z35IwY) - SHITTY VIDEO GAME PLOT MAKES FOR A SHITTY ANIME PLOT. I'm watching it for the lulz, I swear.
Toradora! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ccqa2roHuI) - Toradora! is fun and cute and heartwarming and you wouldn't like it anyway but FUCK YEAH TORADORA!. It's a story about a guy who looks like a yakuza yet acts very tenderly and a small girl who scares even the professors of the school. They both fall in love with the best friend of the other, so it is in their best interests to work together as they try to woo their crushes. Did I mention I wuv romantic comedies?
EDIT: Eltargrim likes Toradora!. Eltargrim has an awesome taste confirmed.

At the moment, can't provide links to anime (Deployed ISP blocks these sites for me :( ), but here's some anime I've seen recently that I'm loving.
Noir - Music is great, and the animation can be down right nice. Story is kinda deep too. Much watch.
Lucky Star - Overall, a somewhat goofy anime. Based around a group of high school girls going through their daily lives and stuff. Doesn't seem to follow much of a storyline, but it's funny sometimes (And I love the opening theme =^_^= , oh and of course the end, 'Lucky Channel')
When I can actually think, I'll probably post a few more. :P

Toradora! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ccqa2roHuI) - Toradora!
I like how they're not falling for each other, and I hope it remains this way. I'm fine with a triangle with Ami as the common point between them (AKA Ryuuji + Minorin vs Ryuuji + Ami and the same with Taiga and what's-his-name), but to have them go for each other would bore me. :shifty:

If you're gonna watch Macross stay the fuck away from Frontier. The original series may be a bit outdated for your tastes, but you should give a chance to Do You Remember Love? at least. Be sure to not miss Macross Plus (by the guy behind Cowboy Bebop) and Macross 7, however.

11-08-2008, 01:50 AM
d'Eon's basically all about d'Eon who's a Chevalier in pre revolution France and who's a member of the Secret Police and charged with the task of taking on the shadows, monsters, springing up before they can ruin the peace. He had a sister who also fought against the monsters but died under mysterious circumstances, as you find out the moment after the OP ends, and d'Eon's first basic goal is to find out what happened. He does the standard story meet and greet and forms a party to find the truth and such.
It's actually pretty good, at least I enjoyed it. Has political intrigue as well as the killing and the animation is pretty decent.

I have been watching snippets of Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FmL3Su7XjP0).
Think Detective Conan with an actual plot and instead of a little kid you have a sadistic demon who enslaves a girl and a gangster. Another way to put it would be if Alucard from Hellsing actually solved mysteries instead of just shooting people. There ar major differences in the Manga source material and the anime, and I highly recommend both.

Seil has no taste. The Third Season of Digimon was my favorite out of all of them. Having a Cosmic Horror as a final boss whose source of power comes from screwing with the mind an emotionally broken girl? Awesome.
On another note, To Aru Majutsu no Index is ok. Episodes 3 and 4 were a bit boring, but that's mostly because it's an introduction set of episodes. Basically, it's a guy who can negate special powers with his right hand - which is great considering that pretty much every major character shown has some form of power.
Unfortunately, it also cancels out all of his luck - so he tends to have very bad days very often. It's probably why he ends up getting into so many fights, actually.
As of the latest episode, he managed to get amnesia except not really until you find out he really does have amnesia and was just pretending he didn't so that other people wouldn't be sad, and now has to act like he remembers everything for the rest of the series...probably.

Hurm? I thought the expanded Yotsuba deaths and L's funeral thing were just some extra scenes. I wasn't aware of a "rewrite."
I believe that's literally what it's called. Plus, they did change some things. Most noticeably, L doesn't introduce himself to Light in college. After the second Kira incident, he just calls him to some ridiculously hidden theater to watch the tapes.
I guess it could just imply that all went according to the original anime story and Ryuk only killed Light after he was fully owned and shot up, since it's not made clear when exactly Light dies, but that's even worse. We already know from day 1 that Ryuk will kill Light; showing it happen "eventually" without explaining what happens to Light's vision for the world is massively disappointing.
Seil has no taste.
We knew this like, ten seasons ago. Get with the program.

Soul Eater (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soul_Eater_%28manga%29) is surprisingly good. It's really well animated and the character relationships are endearing.
My only problem with Soul Eater is it's closing in on the manga and no new series has been announced(the current season runs to 51 episodes I think and is going one chapter an episode, there are currently 54 chapters and it's only mid arc of not the final arc now). Which means that we'll probably not see the incredible Arachnophobia arc(or any ones after it) animated for a long time, or Bones will do their normal thing and run screaming into left field with their own ending,FMA style and we'll never see all the great stuff in the later arcs.
I swear if Medusa starts leading a army of interdimensional nazis around I'm gonna be a little pissed (only a little cause the manga will still be running).

Re: Reggles; I guarantee that there is never again anything nearly as bad as the Excalibur episode. Also, there is never again anything nearly as bad as the two introductory episodes for Captain Jackass and MC Spazzy Spazzpants (Note to anyone who decides to try this show: Just skip the second and third episodes altogether. You are missing nothing that you could conceivably give a fuck about and a whole lot of just annoying, belabored bullshit).
Re: Greed; 1. I can't imagine why you spoiler-tagged something that God willing will never actually happen - unless you're just protecting the innocent from the raw awfulness of that idea in which case okay, I can dig it. 2. That would suck, but I mean, isn't the current series only on episode 30 or so? So it ain't like they don't have time to do that.
