Awesome concert bands.

Just wondering what other bands are awesome live...I just got back from the Calgary Stampede and watched the Trews, and they were fricking amazing. Caught a guitar pick and a drumstick too, and got a set list. They throw a fucking good concert though.

I also know that OLP and Bon Jovi both threw a really good party last year, but I can't think of any other bands that stick out as live bands off the top of my head.

Also, wicked musical performance. They're pretty much spot on, but the sound guys fucked up the bassist's mic. D:

I remember Godsmack had a lot of pyro and evil lookin shit. It was cool.

Slayer toured about a half a year or so ago, and their first stop was an outdoor arena nearby here.

To say it was awesome was a severe understatement.

If we're talking about bands that are a great listening experience live, then I'd probably have to throw out Broken Social Scene (because experiencing 17 performers at once is just sublime), Explosions in the Sky, and Girl Talk.

However, if we're talking about the show, I've yet to read or hear about any performer that comes close to reaching the levels of amazing that The Flaming Lips pour out at every concert. I always believe that they looked at the entirety of what it was possible to do onstage, ramp everything up to 11, and then give the crowd exactly what it wants. Streamers, dressed up fans dancing onstage, giant Santas, lasers (both onstage and handed out before the show), sing-a-longs that aren't gay, and then a fucking giant hamsterball.

Really, I don't think you can actually objectively top a Flaming Lips show.
