Well, it would seem that the Death Note movie is going to be at my local theater tomorrow night. Needless to say I was surprised. I wasn't exactly expecting it to go to theaters, even though I've only found it showing one night. Anyway, I just thought I'd see if it's coming to anyone else's theaters, and whether or not anyone else is going.
Also, I will not argue whether or not Death Note is a good show or good writing or whatever. It may have it's problems but I like it, and me liking a show is the only qualification a show needs to meet for me to watch it, as it should be.

Is this the live-action movie? If so, be prepared for it to have very little resemblance to the plot of the manga and the anime. From the synopsis I read on Wikipedia, they took some liberties with the ending and the entire second half of the series isn't there, either, to make it all fit into...three hours or something? I'm actually thinking it's TWO movies, now...
If this is some sort of animated movie they made more recently, though, I'm intrigued.

I'd assume it's the live-action, as I haven't heard anything about an animated movie, and I've seen the live-action before. It's decent, though it could've been better. My main complaint is that nobody knows how to fake a heart attack. They all over-dramatize it.

I thought the live action movie was pretty good, but uh... one thing...
They already have DN movie 1 and 2 on DVD, I have 1.
The overall storyline kinda strayed from the normal anime/manga path, they changed some stuff
Light's girlfriend is killed, Light and L were introduced differently, the beginning was REALLY off. Would have been nice if they had at least TRIED to make light and misa look like they were supposed to.
I got the one from ebay with japanese audio and english subs, the japanese dvd is cool, has the title written on the disk in shiney letters.

My favorite part about the movies is that:
L wins. And also, isn't Ranma. And also, Near isn't Akane. Unlike the series. I can't wait for the third movie about L, Near and Mellow solving some other case in LA. Also, I liked the fact that Light died the death of a panzy. Oooh, and the crazy shit that L was eating in every single scene he was in. Look for the long tube of gelatinous looking substance, and the chocolate ball kabobs dipped in blue liquid.

Well... you might be very disapointed...
I told you that the storyline is very different then what it should be.
They didnt change the major stuff like rayne penber and his girlfriend THAT much.
MAJOR MOVIE SPOILERS
first movie
The first movie is about epidsodes 1-9 and ends at the museum when L meets light in public. The beginning of the movie is much different then the anime/manga.
second movie (edited)
"Death Note the Last Name", starts where the first movie leaves off, then stops at episode 25, L wins.
third movie (not very good details)
"L: Change the WorLd". Its says that it focuses on the last 23 days of L's life. The events happen after the kira thing, but L tries to track down a bioterrorist group. He takes a boy surviver (says it's near:eek: ) and some other girl, they said they were using this movie to show L's human side.
Hope the spoilers didnt traumatize anyone too bad.

You haven't seen the second movie then? Because your "spoilers" are wrong. I've watched those movies three or four times, so, I'm pretty sure I know what I'm talking about.
Don't open if you don't want to know what I mean.
First off, Light dies in the second movie. How does that constitute a win for him? He died due to yet another Xanatos Roulette on the part of L. (Who the hell thinks to write their own name in the notebook?!) Also, I saw that they have casted someone for the part of Mello somewhere, so I'm pretty sure he's gonna be in the third. Don't know if it's out yet overthere, as I've been on a SG-1 kick lately, with a side of Geass and New Who.

Oh, whoops
I thought since light didnt die until the end of the anime/manga, and since the movie only went to episode 25, I thought that L would die and light
wouldnt.
Ive only seen the first movie, and wikipedia didnt really say much about the second movie, Ill have to edit my last post.
