Wow, that's a pretty long and descriptive thread title. I'll just throw up the link (http://audiobytes.net/) and be on my way then.

I saw "Autobots" and my hand went to the clicky-clicky.
Will give a listen and proper review later.

Ok, after giving this like three complete runthroughs it's really starting to grow on me.
Of course, I have a bit of a soft spot for mashups. My iPod has neither The White Album nor The Black Album, but The Grey Album has like ten complete listens. I guess if I had to assign the genre to, say, a webcomic style they'd be the webcomics of the music world: less about crafting from scratch and more about recontextualizing disparate elements into an enjoyable new product that, hopefully, reaches a new peak upon the shoulders of the elements it borrows.
In that mindset, Night Ripper is clearly the 8-Bit Theater, but this album is at least How to Make a Webcomic in 8 Easy Bits. It is definitely the best album featuring a song where the Batman theme opens the way for Kelis's 'Milkshake', and if that isn't worth something then I'll eat my ten-gallon hat.
