Ok, so i just watched this show about like 10 minutes ago...

how shows like this get done? j...just how..? how how h-h-how? and dear lord why...?!

That was like 30 minutes of non-actors talking about gay coupel shaving eachothers balls, Poo, poo in a stick, Poo-shaped cookies, a Cookie contest, Necrophilia, Bone theft, Tombstone theft...

just... what the FUCK are people putting on air theses days? WHat the hell is comedy central airing!??!

I saw a preview and was like, "Wow, it's like Dumb and Dumber with a chick and more poop jokes. Guaranteed success!"

The second I saw this show even existed, I reached for the closest knife I could find and pondered whether or not I stab myself to see if it was real. Then when I saw an episode I wondered whether or not I should have taken the spoon I was holding and scooped out my eyes.

Honest to god, it looks like Comedy Central is desperate to put anything on the air they think will make people laugh. The sad truth is people WILL laugh and the rest of us end up trying to find a reason we still watch tv with so much crap on the air.

...Eh?

What is wrong with you people? The Sarah Silverman Program is clearly the best thing on television. (And no, it isn't still on the air)

Come on, a little girl with a dog turd on a stick, waving it random cars, yelling "Dooooooodie!"? That is comedy gold.

Not to mention, Sarah Silverman is totally hot. :p

Two things that iritate me to no end. Egocentric people, and stupid people. Take a wild guess how I feel about the Sarah Silverman Show

You people are obviously watching the wrong shows, you need to get your dosage of Kenny Versus Spenny. That is a show that I cannot help but watch since I saw the meat eating challenge.

...while her mother was on her deathbed calling for her to say her last goodbye... but it's all good, because that's the same daughter who used a "dog doodie" picture to make a homage to her dead mother on national TV, and later in the episode, used the Doodie on a Stick to replace her tombstone........

seriously, it's like they found a way to capture pain in film. Im watching pain. It's a Audio-visual manifestation of a sensation of pain

The point of that scene is that Sarah is immature and irresponsible and doesn't realize the seriousness of the situation. Because she is so, her mother asks her sister to watch after her and stuff, which is when Laura realizes that petty arguments aren't more important than sisterhood, etc.

The best way to watch the SSS, IMHO, is to buy the complete Stella (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000FZETJS/km-20/ref=nosim) series on DVD and watch those ten episodes once every three months. It's pretty much the same show, except I think Silverman drained all of the comedy out of her version, kind of like what the American version of Coupling did to the British original.
Not to mention, Sarah Silverman is totally hot.
If she weren't fuckable, she'd basically be Lisa Lampanelli.

Without even reading this thread, I have this to say.

NO.

Absolutely not. Sarah Silverman is an abomination to mankind and should be dealt with immediately. Her lack of comical judgement and pure idiocy, for lack of better words, is uncharted. She needs to be eradicated from society to preserve civil humanity and intelligence.

Kill the wench!

And people say I overreact, and go about ranting frothy at the mouth. Eh-hem.

Anywho, The program just isn't my cup of tea. I can see where others would find humor, but it's just not my type of thing. Same with her stand-up. I do njoy her when she is in guest roles. She is great as Adrian Monk's obsessive fan on the show Monk, for example.

Silverman's shows have one funny moment per show. On average.

Take them together into one show, you got a mildly entertaining show.

Seperately... it sucks.

...And why did she think an episode about licking her dog's anus would be funny?

EDIT- You know what comedian I'd love to see get his own show? Demetri Martin. Pair him up with Jay London as his neurotic, low-self-esteem-ridden buddy, and you got the greatest sitcom ever.

It's better than Mind of Mencia.

So is a root canal with a rusty spoon that is also on fire but we don't speak of such things.

Sarah Silverman isn't even comedy - it's better described as anti-comedy. They just rely on the fact that being gross enough or being stupid enough is enough to cause instant hit-ratings, Dumb and Dumber The Show style.

Unfortunately Dumb and Dumber is a million times better because instead of just relying on the stupidity of the main characters it is more about the circumstances going on around the main characters and how they remain utterly clueless the entire time (A kidnapping and ransom within the rich family's own close friend) or recurring jokes (Dumb and Dumberer's various chocolate scenes, for example).

Being random, gross, or stupid is not instant comedy.

The Sarah Silverman Program gets ratings high enough that it hasn't been cancelled. They're making new episodes right now. They must be doing something right.

The fact that the show is doing well accounts for the unspeakable stupidity of the American population, and nothing more.

And I'm American myself.

Friggin' idiots.

(I'm just being stupid silly >.> DONT BAN ME PLOX)

Yeah, couldn't possibly be that it's just a type of humor you don't like or get, but others do, in a way that is totally seperated from intellegence or lack thereof. No, no, you're probably right.

Blast! Foiled again! I'll get you next time, Gadget!

NEXT TIME!

Besides, I've watched my Futurama and Arrested Development, got my finals out of the way, so I am sufficiently chill now.

I watched one episode of the show and it was hilarious. It was the one where she accuses everyone of being anti-Semitic and trots around in black face to see what it's like to be a Negro.

Everywhere she went people yelled at her and called her terrible names! How could the world still be so racist?
