My friends and I have finally recieved our music editing & mixing software, and we're ready to compile a new mix CD. The premise is that we're in need of good music to drive to, and we're open to some suggestions.

At the moment, we have:
SPEED - Atari Teenage Riot
Given Up - Linkin Park
I Stand Alone - Godsmack
Crank That - Soulja Boy
Conteo - Don Omar

This project will last a while until we get a true playlist ready. Does anyone have any good suggestions?

I mean, come on, that's an essential driving song. Shame on all of you for neglecting it.

Creep - TLC

Shame on YOU for neglecting it. A mix CD is not a mix CD if it does not include this song - it is merely a collection of songs stored digitally onto a plastic disk.

For pure cheesiness value, Wheels of Fire - Manowar.

For pure AWESOMENESS value however, Where Dragons Rule - Dragonforce. The only problem with that song however, is that a good quality version of it is REALLY hard to find. PM me if you want a good copy of it.

It kind of depends what kind of driving you mean as that e.g. good cruising music is totally different from good speeding music and trying to listen to the one while you're doing the other just causes problems. Backroads? Open highway? Busy highway? Local roads? Single-lane local roads or multilane local roads? All these factors are essential considerations in determining the optimal music with which to enhance your drive-time experience.

That said, if you want some showing-no-respect-whatsoever-for-laws-or-our-own-mortality driving music there's no single song better than Ace of Spades (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XESEt5A12Zo) by Motorhead. Alternately if you're looking for more of a speed-with-precision kind of vibe Up for Sale (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fwbleH55CCk) by the International Noise Conspiracy would be one quite sound option.

If you're on the motorway all you need is Highway to Hell and Bat out of Hell.

Thanks for pointing that out. Actually, the music looking for is somewhere between cruising and high-speed-adrenaline-action driving.

Some Van Halen from the David Lee Roth era works well, too. There's a lot of songs in there good for that type of driving, and it's all up to your personal taste which ones work best.

Here are some if your want your ears offended...

Leng Tch'e (http://www.myspace.com/lengtche)
Daughters (http://www.myspace.com/daughters1)
Psyopus (http://www.myspace.com/psyopus)
The Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza (http://www.myspace.com/tonydanzatapdanceextravaganza)
iwrestledabearonce (http://www.myspace.com/iwrestledabearonce) (Obligatory chick singer, but it really doesn't show in the music, oddly enough)

I dunno I like listening to some crazy shit when I'm in a car, but I don't drive. Like grindcore and stuff. I picked this up from my brother...

I mean you can use it if you really want to make some people look at you funny, just like pump it all the way up and bust it out on a busy street/highway or somethin'.

I've always thought that the best song for when one's driving at night is Pink Floyd's Dogs.

Some ZZ (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xSLa08J6rv4) Top (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w5TVV3wqrZY&feature=related), of course. (2 links!)

Don't forget Queen (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=58CJih1iYC0).

And then there's that old cliché driving song, but somebody has to mention it (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UlwLAEzHBcg).

... hmm, I guess old Phil (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gz7gajAb2ww) can join as well, but be carefull with the drum solo.
I don't know ANY music lover that won't play the airdrums when it starts.

Oh, come on! How did I forget this one? Freebird!

Dragula - Rob Zombie

It's just so catchy and what the song is about seems so fitting to listen to it whilst driving.

Crank That - Soulja Boy

I have lost all respect for you.

That said, I prefer stuff such as ACDC, songs that rock but only if you're only half paying attention, while driving or riding in a car.

I have lost all respect for you.Souja* Boy up'n'iss hoooo

I mean come on that's great driving music. There's nothing better than that one that you like to laugh at when it comes on out of a about 100 songs. That's always a good time.

*No it's not a typo

Edit: Crank dat Calvary kid? How about that? Hah.

I have lost all respect for you.

Meh...I could care less.
Besides, what I had already written down at the start were songs between myself and my friends.

Anything more specific from AC/DC anyone?

I know what I said about Creep by TLC, but I have an actual suggestion now.

The Chemical Brothers - Star Guitar (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CBgf2ZxIDZk).

That music video is probably the coolest video ever shot, edited, and synchronized with music. And the song just fits the traveling theme perfectly.

Anything more specific from AC/DC anyone?

First two that came to my mind were Back In Black, and Highway to Hell.

But I just got into AC/DC myself, so some other people might have better suggestions.

EDIT:

Oh, and to fill your nerd-metal quota, The Curse of Feanor (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wroor2PqIEc) by Blind Guardian is something I enjoy driving to.

Okay AC/DC driving music? Shook me all Night Long and Thunderstruck are what comes to mind here. Of course almost all AC/DC is great driving music but they're the best for it. In fact Shook Me is probably the best driving song ever.

Also no one watched Wayne's World? Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody is appropriate for all situations.

Invisible Queen

Fuel? Pfft, ReLoad is for suckers.
I second Fuel. Sure it's about amphetamine, but I think it's also about racing.

I also suggest Breaking the Law for those fast driving times. A friend of mine once got into a highway trance riding a motorcycle and listening to it, and soon he was doing about 100 mph without even realizing it, chanting "breaking the law, breaking the law". Fun stuff.

For more sensible cruising, there's the classics: Mercedes Benz, Fast Car, Road to Hell.

In The Lead (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kjIRi-fohG0) - Crush 40

'Tis awesome. And kinda cheesy, but mostly awesome.

Tonight I'm compiling the list and it's gonna be finalized tomorrow. I'll post it and you can tell me what you think.
