I've noticed that he seems to have a whole lot of very devoted fans. I've only heard a few of his songs, so I'm just curious as to what's so great about him.
Is there anything of his in particular that I should start with?

Honestly I think he has a cult following here for other reasons than his music ...

It's not just here. I know a lot of people who are crazy about him.
Eh, I just like a few of his songs. But I also derive great enjoyment outta mentioning him on NPF, because he gets such great reactions.
Other than... y'know, the whole "rapist" thing.
I'm still working out the details of the deathmatch, but I'm hoping me and D can duke it out by July.

1) Watch the movie Labyrinth.
2) If you want to listen to music, it really depends on the type of music you like. Bowie's had a rather diverse career. My personal favorite Bowie track is one of his early tracks, "Space Oddity". Ground control to Major Tom... Of course, there's always his collab with Queen on the track "Under Pressure", too.
