Master of Puppets (http://youtube.com/watch?v=_z-hEyVQDRA&feature=related) and Enter Sandman (http://youtube.com/watch?v=20CRDqB0BZY). I don't think much more needs to be said here..

But in all seriousness (or maybe not), a lot of their older stuff is awesome. Black Album being my favorite album. Just so many gems, such as what was stated above (well, one of them atleast) and Wherever I May Roam. Contrary of what some people may think, I actually like some of their newer stuff as well.

One more thing, Dave Mustaine is a dick (he used to be in the band, so that still counts).

I honestly can't stand them. Never have been able to.

One of my favorite bands, but I'm rather picky about my favorites. Most of their older stuff, a couple of their newer pieces. I like their instrumentals, like Orion and Call of Ktulu. The S&M album is fantastic.

I personally prefer their newer stuff, but I do love their older stuff. Prince Charming is my favourite song ever.

I tend to prefer their older stuff too, but I REALLy like Hero of the Day from Load. Nothing past Load has really caught my attention though.

Metallica is great but I wish they weren't so wishy-washy on the subject of why they do the music.

I mean when you do music for music, you do it because you love it and hey, if you make money off of it that's the point. But when Metallica whines like crazy - the richest band in America - over piracy I begin to wonder if they do music because it's music or if they became the complete persona of "sellout" long ago.

I could care less if they are sellouts, as long as the music is good, which it has been.

And Justice For All..., Reload, Ride The Lightning, etc...

That's pretty much Metallica for me.

Sad but True is my favorite song. I don't know how good most of the new stuff, since the only one they play on the radio is Wherever I May Roam, which I think is pretty good.

Prince Charming (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0aiQRB7ll2A)

I love this song.

I am a Metallica music fan, I am not a "We're whiny dicks with a shit ton of money and we can't let a cent make it past our miserly fingertips, so we became the RIAA's posterboy bitches." fan

Really all I've heard of them is the instrumental covers from Apocalyptica, which is pretty awesome.

Saint Anger is the worst pile of shit to be ever released. I want it to be wiped from the history books.

But most everything else they made was pretty kickass. The Garage albums they made were pretty meh as well, and S&M is like the best live album.

There is no doubt in my mind that these guys are douches. But, these guys are douches that rock! My personal favorite is their cover of "Stone Cold Crazy (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c3jZ-xsaCO0)" by Queen (which kicks posterior quite prodigiously already).

Meh, in the middle for me. My friend goes crazy (like violence crazy) when he hears Four Horsemen.

The only time I've ever listened to them is when they did that live concert where they play with the philharmonic orchestra on DVD, and I really appreciated it. It was the first time I had listened to them, mostly because my friend (she's a guitar player) was surprised at the fact I didn't know anything about them, and she told me something in the lines of ''YOU, COME WITH ME AND LISTEN TO THIS NAOW!''.

To live is to die (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2WdYt9VkVek) is my favorite. And they've made like fifty songs I really like, more than any other band, so there's that.

They may be profit-hungry dicks, but what difference does it make? Wagner was a nazi but his music still kicks ass. :)
