I have been playing Warhammer for 5 years and have come to a grim conclusion: I suck with Wood Elves.

I've read the rule book and army book two times each.

I've read my opponents in and out.

I've used spells that use rocks and trees in a heavily forrested, rocky area.

I've read the newest edition of White Dwarf magazine and I must admit they provided some good strategy...but not nearly enough for my loathesome suckish ass. My record so far is somewhere between 3-15 and the Jets combined 2002-2003 records.

I've read and analysed every "Twinkin' Out" (I don't even think Red Mage can find a stat configuration to help me).

I need help, strategy, tips, tricks, anything anyone can come up with. Keep in mind that this is played on a 6"x3" pool table.

My army is as follows (or just about):
1 General [light armor, shield, mounted]
1 sorceress [level 2]
6 Glade Riders [mounted, shields]
15 Glade Guards [light armor, shields, 1 Champion, 1 Musician, 1 Standard Bearer]
5 Warhawk Riders w/ bows or spears
24 Archers
10 Dryads
6 Waywatchers
1 Treeman

Yes I realize I need a lot more units, but a man can only earn so much in a week. I was thinking some Wardancers and a lot more archers. What do you think?

Thanks

Hmm... dont wood elves have treants? If so, get them. I would suggest getting more archers and wardancers (like you said). Place the archers behind the wardancers as they go into combat. Give your army the banner that gives everyone a second attack when one unit dies (i think thats only avail in the old editions of warhammer, but it kicks ass), and since I havent played warhammer in a few years my advice is a bit old.

get a hero on giant eagle back. give him the "heart of woe" crash him into the enemy general. like wise with the item that removes your piece and the oppont's from the game. make sure you win on the point exchange when you use these two items and your army should be able to take advantage of the holes you just created.

unfortunately I haven't played Warhammer in several years, and when I did, I played with Undead or High Elves. Sorry I can't be of any help.

If I position my archers behind the wardancers, can they shoot through (or over) them since wardancers skirmish? Or do you allocate the shots as you would shooting into close combat?

in skirmish you can shoot through i think. unless they are in combat then it gets allocated. i think

My army doesn't use treants and it can't use the Heart of Woe. That sounded like a great plan otherwise.
