View Full Version : I bought BioShock and all I got was this lousy blue screen.

BioShock fails me. I got the demo about a week ago, and it crashed at the beginning of 'Welcome to Rapture', right as the first Splicer you see rips some dude apart with hot glowing arm-hooks of doom and pain. It would blue screen, infinite loop, switch off my monitor (like, put it in standby), give me 'Windows has encountered an error in Bioshock.exe and it needs to close.' and so on and so forth.

This problem with the demo was rectified with the latest nVidia BETA drivers, which contained the line 'Added support for BioShock' in the changelog. ALL WAS WELL! The demo was crazy awesome and I burned things with fire.

I bought the game today (with not a dime of my own money, either! YAY for Target gift cards that we forgot about for months!)... It's doing the same thing... but my Forceware is patched to the latest version now...

I hate everything.

did you try the NVidia hotfix yet? There was one for both ATI and NVidia (the ATI one did fuck all for me, but the NVidia one may work for you).

Read above. The BETA drivers thing. I just checked the support forums with my exact current issue (black screen then crashing to desktop) and they're telling me to do WHAT I ALREADY FUCKING DID~@!!@

Lousy Tech Support Dude: uh, reboot?

maybe if you re-installed your Vid Drivers from a clean wipe with the newest ones instead of updating drivers? That's been tossed around on the troubleshooting sites a few times.

Well, you got a better start then I did at first. I bought it and it only showed the smoke and fire, rather crappily too, of the crash scene in the start. Then bought new Graphics card and 2 GB RAM, and all set.
