The thread title is self-explanatory. Name your favourite voice actor & why. Here's some of mine:

Seth MacFarlene - Not only does he direct Family Guy. He brings to life Peter, Stewie, Brain, and Quagmire at the same time! Talk about dedication!

Scott McNeil - He supplied the voices of Dinobot, Rattrap, Silverbolt, and Waspinator on Beast Wars. He's literally done conversations with himself!

Dan Castelleneta - ME LIKE HOMER!

James Earl Jones - Insert March of the Empire music here.

Any other good ones?

Johnny Yong Bosch

For a guy who started out as a Power Ranger, he's done darn well for himself. He's done tons of anime series, at least half of which were in starring or major roles.

Sonny Strait- Most famous as Lupin III and also Major Hughs in Full Metal Alchemist

Bryce Johnson- Did a fantastic job as Doctor Strange

Sean Connery- who doesn't love Dragonheart? (also Sean is the greatest actor who ever lived so he should be on this list anyways)

Sky Warrior Bob

Jim Ward (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0911616/) is pretty decent....

Terence Stamp

Crispin Freemam, Wendee Lee, and David Hayter.

It would perhaps move things along if you guys'd say what roles some of these people are known for?

Anyway, I'm pretty sure there's a law somewhere requiring everybody to love Peter Cullen, even though everyone would love him even if there weren't a law requiring them to do so.

Also, whoever it was who did Bruce Wayne's voice in Batman: The Animated Series. Oh, and Mark Hamil doing the Joker, if for no other reason than that he's Mark Hamil. Also whoever did Alfred's voice did an understatedly excellent job in a critical supporting role.

David Hayter (Solid Snake and Big Boss, duh!). Also, none of you may know them, but Laura Torres and Mario Castaņeda make an excellent Goku in Dragon Ball (especially the latter, since he was also Captain Planet in the Latin American version of, well, Captain Planet).

Steve Blum (probably most notable as Spike in Cowboy Bebop, Mugen in Samurai Champloo, and Vincent in Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children). I swear, that guy pops up everywhere (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0089710/).

Okay then.
Crispin Freeman: Zetta: Makai Kingdom, Holland: Eureka 7, Nobunaga: Kessen 3
Wendee Lee: Maya: Tenjo Tengo, Lillet Blan: Grimgrimoire, Aribeth De Tylmirand: Neverwinter Nights
David Hayter... well, he really only has 1 role worth talking about...

David Hayter - Solid Snake
Jennifer Hale - Naomi Hunter, Samus Aran, Felicia Hardy, Cassidy Sharp, Bastilla Shan, Emma Emmerich, more than a few Powerpuff girl voices.

Nobody's mentioned Rob Paulsen yet? This guy is famous for a lot of roles, including but not limited to, Raphael on the original TMNT, Yakko Warner on Animaniacs, Max from Mighty Max, Arthur in the Tick, Jack Fenton on Danny Phantom, and Gray Fox in MGS: The Twin Snakes.

Gary Chalk has played Optimus Prime and Optimus Primal, and he even did characters for Captain N, Mega Man, ReBoot, Street Fighter, and Double Dragon. How kickass is that?

Whenever Hugo Weaving does a part, it is always awesome. Yes, even the short-lived TF movie Megatron.

The aforementioned Jennifer Hale's Bastila Shan never stopped being awesome.

Even though he's passed on now, Mako will forever be one of my favorite voice actors.

Nobody could ever forget Aku from Samurai Jack, or Uncle Iroh, the Dragon of the West, from Avatar.

Dameon Clarke (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dameon_Clarke) and Christ Patton (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chris_Patton) are really good ones.

I also second Vic Mignogna.

Well, yeah, Vic Mignogna. Not just because he does an awesome job, but he knows what it's like to be a fanboy/girl of something/someone, so he's really nice to his fans (if you e-mail him, you WILL get an e-mail back, unless something happens and he loses your e-mail) also, he sang to me for my birthday, so that's always good in my book. Plus, I love his music *has three of his CDs*

Also, Travis Willingham, voice of Roy Mustang, because if I didn't, my roommate would murder me.
And Aaron Dismuke - did the voice of Alphonse at 12 years old (I believe. As well as other roles) and I think he did a fantastic job for being so young.

And, non-FMA related, I wanted to second Mako. I'm sad that he's gone now.

Tara Strong - It always amuses me that she plays Timmy Turner and Rikku.

Tara Strong - It always amuses me that she plays Timmy Turner and Rikku.

As well as Raven from Teen Titans and Ben from Ben10, that's some range there.

Also put me down for Mako, the entire main cast of The Simpsons, Tony Jay and Peter Cullen. (The last two I both thought were extremely cool voices upon hearing them as a kid).

Johnny Yong Bosch. Famous roles include Vash the Stampede and the guy in Akira that yells "TETSUOOOOOOOO!!" He's a VERY nice guy.

And he was also the black power ranger in the first movie.

I can't believe no one's mentioned Tress MacNeille yet. She's been doing voiceover work for a long time, and she's voiced Agnes Skinner, Babs Bunny, Dot Warner, Chip, Gadget, Daisy Duck, and Charlotte Pickles, just to name a few. She also sang and performed the role of Lucy Ricardo in Weird Al Yanokvic's song "Hey, Ricky!"

I have to second Cam Clarke (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cam_Clarke), this guy has been everywhere.

His most famous role was Liquid Snake, but he was also the voice actor for Leonardo in the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoons in the late 80's. He also voiced He-Man in the relaunch of Masters of the Universe earlier this decade. His voice has also been in other video games like Granida II, Tales of Symphonia, and Tales of Legendia. He has also provided voices for - Naruto, Bleach, Gargoyles, Spider-man, Doom 3, Eternal Darkness, God of War II, Kingdom Hearts II, KOTOR, and WoW.

Hell he was even in Walker: Texas Ranger. I kid you not.

Allison Keith- For Misato, from Evangelion. I totally loved the way she introed Asuka with a British accent (In one of the eva remakes at least). XD I liked all of the Eva voices, but she’s my favourite.

Jessica Calvello- For Excel Excel from Excel saga first half. She lost her voice in mid series; I assume that was because Excel was so…energetic…and shrill… gotta admire her putting everything out like that.

Anything Jennifer Hale does is aces in my book (Bastila, did a ton of voices for other Bioware games too).

Tony Jay was also awesome (Megabyte from Reboot, also did the Transcendent One in Torment)

Sara Kestleman gets on my list solely for being Kreia in KOTOR 2.

Harry Shearer does a lot of good stuff on the Simpsons, too. Not to mention everything else that he's done outside of voice acting.

Patrick Warburton does a great job as Brock on the Venture Bros.

On a similar note, George Lowe as Space Ghost is great.

Stephen Colbert did a great Phil Ken Sebben.

And, of course, Harry Goz as Captain Murphy on Sealab 2021.

Cam Clarke ~ MGS1 and from the original Turtles Cartoon, I never realized that he worked that far back until recently. He was also the voice of Sky from Jade Empire.

Tony Jay (R.I.P) As the voice of Mega Byte.

Billy West ~ as if you already didn;t know =P.

Phil Hartman from the Simpsons. Able to pull off that smarmy, greasy Lawyer bit with ease.

oh yeah, I want to add Keith James Ferguson. Voice of Basch from FF12, as well as Bloo from Fosters Home for Imaginary friends. Every time I think about that I'm in awe, since it's such a different voical range.

Oh and to save time, everyone from FMA. I cant think of a single person that didn't have a good voice actor.

Obviously Seth McFarlane.

But the real reason I came into here:

Wanda Sykes.

Because once you hear her voice, you KNOW things are just gettin' a whole lot blackah'.

And shit's gonna hit the fan.

No, but in all honesty, I do love her voice, it's so wacky.

I don't normally keep too good a tabs on VAs, so you guys listed all the ones I knew.

'Cept for Samuel L. Jackson. Because Gin Rummy is fucking insane.

And James Arnold Taylor, because not only did he pull off Tidus for FFX, but he's the most awesome Lombax in the history of history.

In addition, I really like June Foray, who has done the voices of Smurfs, Grammi Gummi, Rocky the flying squirrel, Granny, Grandmother Fa from Mulan, and many others (she has over 200 voice acting credits).

Among actors that have done voice and film work, I really like listening to James Avery (The Shredder from the original TMNT series), Cedric Smith (Professor X from the original X-Men cartoon series), Michael Dorn (I. M. Weasel), John De Lancie (Dr. Benton C. Quest), Leonard Nimoy (King Kashekim Nedakh in Atlantis: The Lost Empire), Patrick Stewart (Number One on The Simpsons), and Dwight Schultz (Python of Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops).

If I think of any others I enjoy, I'll be sure to add them, too.

That would have been Johnny Yong Bosch, who I mentioned earlier.

Edit: To stay on topic, Patrick Stewart is another big one. He did Uriel Septim in Oblivion, King Richard in Lands of Lore: The Throne of Chaos (CD version), and has a respectable list of roles in any acting medium you can think of.

Johnny's got his own band too, Eyeshine. They performed last year at SogenCon. Speaking of which, that's coming up pretty soon. He'll probably be there again, he's one of the main attractions for that con.

He and his band were shooting up the hotel with airsoft guns, counting hits and stuff. God, it was so awesome! I got to play CTF with him too!

Johnny, you kick ass.

Oh man, during one panel, my friend asked him to do the Drunken Vash laugh. And he's like "you mean like this? *wasted titter* Or like this? *Hearty guffaw ending in a vomit noise*".

And then he played William Tell and shot an apple off a con-goer's head.

One that always stands out to me is Melissa Fahn, whose most noted work includes Gaz from Invader Zim and Ed from Cowboy Bebop. She puts on a good performance while having one of those voices that always stands out as being hers. Also a very talented singer.

Oh, and Trey Parker and Matt Stone because, I mean, come on.

The man is in practically every game and anime EVER.

Where's the love for Frank Welker? The guy is freakin' crazy good. Hell, if you need someone to do animal sound effects, He's the go-to guy. Just look at his IMDB (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0919798/) page.

Then there's a few others... Phil Lamar, Tara Strong, Hank Azaria. I also get a little prickle of joy whenever I hear Patrick Warburton's voice pop up somewhere.

I noticed that Buzz Lightyear, the Principal in Kim Possible, and Brock Samson were all the same guy one day.

Also, David Hayter DOES have more than one notable role. He's the voice of "EA sports. It's in the game." Not that EA sports has ever been good for anything, but it's better than Challenge Everything.

Well of the ones that haven't been mentioned yet:

Mel Blanc-He played almost every character in Loony Tunes.

Maurice LaMarche-He was the voice of Calculon (Futurama), The Brain (Pinky and The Brain), and Egon Spengler (The Real Ghostbusters), among probably hundreds of other characters.

Mark Hamill-Up to this point he has performed the best portrayal of the Joker (Batman: The Animated Series) I've seen to date.

And of course the previous entry brings me to Kevin Conroy-He is basically the benchmark I measure any portrayal of Batman/Bruce Wayne against (Batman: The Animated Series) (Batman Beyond) (Justice League) (Justice League: Unlimited).

Also an honorable mention for Roddy McDowell, who didn't start as a voice actor, but transitioned well and helped create memorable characters like The Mad Hatter (Batman: The Animated Series) and Snowball (Pinky and The Brain).

Patrick Warburton is made of win. Krunk from The Emperor's New Groove, Joe on Family Guy, and so many other fantastic voices. I just start beaming every time I recognize that voice.

Richard Steven Horvitz, not just for landing the title character in Invader Zim (over Billy West, no less), but mostly because he's Raz, the most awesome Psychonaut EVER.
