I was browsing amongst the forums and happened to click a link in Giever's (http://forum.nuklearpower.com/member.php?u=12164) sig which happened to take me to a google video of The Adventures of Pete and Pete (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=9003830844757381217), namely the municipal pool episode.
It reminded me of how awesome that show was, from the catchy theme song, to the crazy plots, to the effusive characters.
The Adventures of Pete and Pete, best show ever?
Best show ever.

Anyone know the band behind the theme song/the name of the band, by the way?
I really enjoy the music.

The show featured music by such independent artists as Luscious Jackson, The 6ths, The Magnetic Fields, Drop Nineteens, Racecar, and The Apples in Stereo. Polaris, a side project of Mark Mulcahy's Miracle Legion, served as the show's "house band," providing the theme song and many other tunes heard throughout the series and even appearing in "Hard Day's Pete" as a local four-piece playing out of a garage. Some of the Polaris' music from the show was released as a CD, Music from The Adventures of Pete & Pete, including the theme song "Hey Sandy".
No need for thanks. Any idiot could use Wikipedia.

I always preferred Eiree Indiana when I was a lad. Pete and Pete was pretty cool even if I was a bit old for it I think.

You're never too old for Pete and Pete. It's so surreal, like a parody on a childhood that we only wish we had. Each instance of childhood shenanigans increased to epic proportions and told as though it were a story of life and death, love and betrayal. That's what makes it great.

My favorite character, basically in any show ever, was Artie.
The strongest maaaaaaaan.....in the world.

I liked the one where they tracked down the icecream man who had gone missing. Classic times.

I like the road trip episode. That battle at the end to see who has the highest stack of luggage on top of their station wagons was so funny! Or at least according to my memory it was, I need to watch it again.

The only episodes I remember the plot of are: the one where they come up with the test to see if someone's an alien, the one where they all try to stay awake for like two weeks and the one with the time zone change thing

Ah, yes.
Especially the end. Though, if my family did that, I'd never be able to look back at them again.
All of that, for a vanity plate?
Nickelodeon used to have awesome shows. Nowadays, there isn't much to see, except for maybe Danny Phantom and Avatar.
And the latter doesn't nearly get enough screen time.

You know which episode I liked, was when the family went to the Hoover Dam, and had to do battle with that other vacationing family to decide who had the right to the licenseplate "KING OF ROAD" (As opposed to the lesser title, "KING O FROAD").

You know what'd be fantastic? A crossover between Pete & Pete and Doctor McNinja.

That makes me imagine little Pete calling the Gorilla receptionist a blowhole... and then her ripping him in half.

Holy hell, Pete and Pete. Been years since I've seen it, that and Rocko's Modern Life were my favourite shows on Nick. Anyone else remember the ep with the Rock/Paper/Scissors and that creepy Scissors guy and Lil Pete beats with meteors I think. Man I need me some DVDs.

That would be a pretty good setup for the epic battle between Judy the Gorilla Receptionist and Artie, Strongest Man... in the World.

The one where he ate it so perfectly that he lost?
Man, that was awesome.

I really enjoy the music. They also released a soundtrack (http://www.amazon.com/Music-Adventures-Pete-Polaris/dp/B00000IJ0P/ref=pd_bbs_sr_3/103-5262181-4199868?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1188749126&sr=8-3), which might be worth checking out.
But yeah, that was my favorite show growing up. The perfect kids sitcom, it wasn't patronizing, and it was beautifully surreal, a real life fantasy type. And we all know that the show perfectly illustrates the way we used to veiw the world back then. It's a shame that Nickelodeon is now putting out it's current standard sub-standard crap sitcoms.
We need a return to shows like The Adventures of Pete & Pete and Eerie, Indiana!
