Wow. First impressions: I love that they used classic Hitman music in the trailer. The actor looks pretty awesome as 47, I like that they include the religious angle... it'll make 47 seem more complex than a simple assassin.

Second impressions: Its a video game movie. It's pretty well pre-destined to suck. They might over play the religious angle a bit too, since I never considered 47 'divinely inspired to combat evil'.

Either way, whats yas all think? Bust, or first video game movie thats actually good?

I think Statham should have been 47. So much more well known, especially for action roles already, and on most days he already looks like 47 without alteration.

I'm pretty sure it's going to blow, but at least I enjoyed the trailer. I enjoyed it because of the original music! Blood Money ate my life for a good week or two, so the trailer conjured up some nostalgic happiness. The movie...I doubt.

Your disregard for Mortal Kombat makes me die on the inside.

But ONLY the first one.

Sorry, I already feel my loathing for this movie growing with every passing breath. I liked the games because 47 was a merciless hard ass who would kill without question. He was your darkest desires personified, and subsequently unleashed.

Now? He's...a real evil dude (no seriously look how bad he is!) but he's trying to kill evil for the greater good?

I'm seen this movie before. In every action movie starring an assasin who works "for the bad guys."

I'm with Darth on this one, it just screams "Hollywood fucks things up again". I saw a trailer for this a while back and I could tell from the first explosion that something was wrong. Then it got to a shootout bit and intense dissapointment crept in. Then I saw the whole "fighting evil for the greater good", and "working for the Vatican" part and just went WTF?!

Add in that crappy romance plot and this is just your basic Hollywood action flick which we've all seen a thousand times by now. It is nothing like Hitman, except in that his name is 47, he is bald, he wears a suit and kills people.

That's it. That's as close to the games as it comes.

The music and the symbol and the barcode...

But yes, I fear the overplaying of the morality tale and the religious bit. The whole point of Hitman is that he's a killer who lets nothing get between him and his target. Sure, he's got a bit of a conscience crisis at points, but for the most part he's totally ruthless.

And Hollywood has a bad reputation at doing ruthless anti-heroes.

But one can hope, can't he? They surprised me with Transformers, maybe they can here too. Maybe.

What about Silent Hill? That wasn't a bad film. (Nothing on the original, but not in any way bad.)

There's only one. Just one. No sequels.

The actor looks pretty awesome as 47,

I think he looks way too young, and not beefy enough. To me, 47 was hooje.

I remember in the second one, I think it was, you were the groundskeeper of a church, and the Priest was kidnapped - so you went to save the Priest. He was trying to be good.

They surprised me with Transformers, maybe they can here too.

I didn't like the Transformers movie.

Why is there always a love interest? Is it some lame way to appeal to the female demographic? I cant even remember the last time I saw a movie that didn't have a love interest. Its like an escort mission in a shooting game, no one wants it in there, but you know they will put it in anyways

Man, the preview just looked lame, I mean the dude they got for 47 looks like a skinny kid cosplaying him at a video game con.

Add in the fact that 47 is supposed to be basically asexual. He has 47 chromosomes, and that renders him infertile and impossible to sexually arouse. In the games when a girl came on to him, he basically just laughed at it. Leave it to Hollywood to bring romance into a man's life who can't do romance.

Wasn't the Priest like his only friend and confidant, since he had retired or something.

One thing I'd like to point out that no one has mentioned is the repositioning of the barcode. Why is it suddenly in the center of the back of his head, instead of on his neck. How's he suppose to imitate people, and look inconspicuous with a barcode visible to anyone with eyes? I mean the barcode is suppose to be the only distinguishing mark that 47 has, and even then its hidden 90% of the time. You'd imagine every 'big bad' would just immediately start looking for the glaring huge barcode on the back of a guy's head to find the assassin trying to kill him.

Why is the Hitman fighting evil?! Why does the actor look like the guy who played Lex Luthor in Smallville?! Why isn't Jason Statham in this movie?!

Why do assassin main characters have to be fairly good in these flicks. They should be like Golgo 13, except for the lame execution of those movies...yeah.

I think this movie could equal DOOM but it's hard to be worse than DOOM...you're talking about a movie that makes MK: Annihilation look mildly appealing, not kidding...

...

No! Bad! Hiss!

Silent Hill combined SH1 and SH2, and altered the plot lines too much for me. The only thing i really liked about that movie was seeing all the SH creatures come to life.

I don't get the appeal of that, they're CGI in the movie, and they're from a videogame, which involves computer graphics, and probably some pretty decent FMVs...
