Yeah, I am a bit of a goofball in general and this travels through text about as well as I travel through a Fiber Optic cable. I had 1 forum PM and 3 different in guild issues because I sound like I am pissed and an ass when I am really being stupid intentionally and in a non-serious way.

The basic tip I was given was use emotes. What people say is open to interpretation based on tone, inflection, facial expression, and body posture. And oddly enough none of this translates into text. Go figure <.<

The advice I was given was to use emoticons and other obvious expressions. So far this has worked for the most part. And I know it works cause when I don't people tell me to chill... *points at last post*

I guess that is my problem. My personal space has been a computer for the last three years. Also my room has a window taking up most of one wall and a book case and shelves taking up much of another. Oh and my closet takes up a third wall completely. That leaves about half of a wall over my bed for any random stuff I feel like applying adhesives too...

No I am saddened and enraged that anyone would be dumb enough to poison themselves several times a day.

To clarify: I don't hate anyone who got into smoking without all of the facts (which is most people) or from peer pressure or whatever (in these cases the dislike, hate, and disgust is forwarded to the cigarette companies for not making their product at the very least less addictive)

I do dislike people who knew exactly what the risks were at the time and STILL took up smoking of their own free will. I just can't stand that level of stupid. If you want to end your life then there are far faster ways that don't cause any of the rest of us the slightest bit of discomfort (FYI every time I even smell cigarette smoke I gag and may suffer shortness of breath :( and my grandfather and great-grandfather on my dad's side died of cigarette related things before I was born)

I know that most smokers are intelligent people and I don't judge people because of it (though I will stay upwind of them if possible). I just hope that they can find the support and willpower to quit.

I've been skimming, and without reading the whole thread, I wanna say this:

I started smoking not because of my friends (they actively try to get me to quit) or peer pressure or anything like that. I started at a really low point in my life - I was really, really depressed. My brother had been dragged home by the cops a few times - his claim to fame was drugs 'n booze. I didn't want to be him.

I picked up a cigarette because it was a stress reliever. It didn't start like that - it was a chance to go outside, sit down, and think. I realized that life wasn't all that bad, and I've been smoking since - I find it nice to just go outside, sit down, and distance yourself from everyone.

That being said, the Health Care system in Canada - not to mention the Unitied States is soon going to reach critical mass. The baby boom has ended, and too old too support themselves, they're put in homes and hospitals to recieve proper care.

It's because of compassion that humans don't leave their dead where they fall. We don't want to see our loved ones die, so we extend their time as much as we can - and it's that same humanitarian compassion that we don't ban smoking. We respect that everyone should have their own choice, and leave it at that. We trust each other enough to believe that we all know what we're doing.

I'd perfer to smoke rather than not. It might be because I'm addicted, it might be for other reasons - but I'd rather have the choice to smoke instead of not - Chicago had prohibition once, and that spawned the biggest illegal alcohol trade in history. What it all comes down to is letting people pick their poison.

I started smoking not because of my friends (they actively try to get me to quit) or peer pressure or anything like that. I started at a really low point in my life - I was really, really depressed. My brother had been dragged home by the cops a few times - his claim to fame was drugs 'n booze. I didn't want to be him.

I picked up a cigarette because it was a stress reliever. It didn't start like that - it was a chance to go outside, sit down, and think. I realized that life wasn't all that bad, and I've been smoking since - I find it nice to just go outside, sit down, and distance yourself from everyone.

I have been through depression and I would just like to say that I would consider that an altered thought process. I am currently on AD meds so I can understand why you did it and sympathize. At the same time I would like to be added to the list of your friends who think you should quit smoking and find something to contemplate over that doesn't kill you slowly.

That being said, the Health Care system in Canada - not to mention the Unitied States is soon going to reach critical mass. The baby boom has ended, and too old too support themselves, they're put in homes and hospitals to receive proper care.

It's because of compassion that humans don't leave their dead where they fall. We don't want to see our loved ones die, so we extend their time as much as we can - and it's that same humanitarian compassion that we don't ban smoking. We respect that everyone should have their own choice, and leave it at that. We trust each other enough to believe that we all know what we're doing.

I am both very gullible and at the same time I have seen far to much stupidity to trust humanity as a race. Do I trust you? Yes. Do I still want you to stop smoking? Yes again.

I'd perfer to smoke rather than not. It might be because I'm addicted, it might be for other reasons - but I'd rather have the choice to smoke instead of not - Chicago had prohibition once, and that spawned the biggest illegal alcohol trade in history. What it all comes down to is letting people pick their poison.

I have never advocated that cigarettes be banned for a version of the reason you have given. That and I don't think it is fair to make large numbers of people miserable by removing their nicotine fix.

To clarify my previous rant: It's not smokers that I dislike it is cigarette smoke and cigarettes (oh and the companies that make them). I also dislike stupid people. The fact that I feel that cigarette smoking is stupid creates a great deal of overlap and will give me a bad first impression if that is the first thing I find out about you. Since this is rarely the case online I don't see anyone on this server I know who smokes as an idiot (or anything close, heck you all know how to run a torrent which is more than a lot of people). I can understand why you all continue to smoke but this won't stop me from wishing you would quit. I am probably going to continue razzing people about it if they bring it up (re. 'I am going to go smoke') but this shouldn't be taken to seriously (as with anything you hear me say). If I blow up or start sounding like an anti-cigarette nazi then mention it and I will drop it. It probably just means I have had a bad day anyways.

I'm still pretty sleepy here. Probably why I took these before work.
