Sometime in this chapter I'll probably skip forward in time about a week or so, to further along the Orc/Ogre army, and to also jump into another war quick. Probably right near the beginning, once you guys finish up what you need to do in this direct period of time.

Also: I agree with Ecurt that it's mostly a good thing that we're all into the RP enough to spend so much time discussing it... and that we're also not spamming the actual RP itself with arguements.

That he's likely to learn? I already told you that in PMs... unless you mean something a bit more useful in battle. Umm... probably some kind of explosion radius type spell. Fire bomb everything for about 30 feet in every direction from the caster and/or immolate (burns a target from the inside out, and can actually melt them to the ground). But no learning either of those right now... nor the other, uber-powerful, one I talked to you in PMs about.

For right now? Hmm... it's hard to say which would be the most useful. Firenet is extremely useful... burning hands is fast and good for a fight due to it's speed... fire shield is, again, extremely useful. Fireball is nice for blowing shit up... etc. etc.

As for outright power... maybe some kind of multi-mini-fireball dealie, or acid arrow.

Well, I'm at least relieved to know that I'm not completely dense as to if the "secret" was posted or not.

Edit: In response to JAD's post. I was just thinking, but all Aidelyn would need to get away would be a large body of water, I would think.

No, you would need more. I'm not exactly sure how fast a neried can move in water (But I am assuming it is very fast), but Vlad could always in and morph to a fast moving water creature, then psychicly crush you and dominate you. You only become invisible and immaterial, but you still have a mind.

well she could escape into the ground water. You'd need to morph into a mole then or something. Playing an asshole vampire is fine IHMN, but threatening to crush the will of a PC is coming dangerously close to crossing the line.

By ground water, do you mean water in the ground, or an underwater well or something? If you meant the former, I don't think a nereid can do that, seeing as they would have to probably seperate themselves to get through, and I assumed that while in water they still had to keep their watery self connected.

1. You have to concentrate to use your telepathic powers.

2. He is forty feet of mostly muscle. His upper body can support the entire weight of his body, and his tail can hit an object with about as many joules as a car crash.

3. Vlad weighs about 90 kilos.

Just to interrupt before this debate goes into full gear, I would have thought that Vlad would have taken them for everything they owned at this point, and now taht they bet 'Anything', Vald would just enslaved them.

1. When mastered, concentration isn't needed as much (This is really only for psychic crush, but I consider that the best one of the attacking telepath skills). Also, split personality, allowing him to do two things at once.

2. Vampire. Vampires are strong. A human doubled in strength is more then a Naga, which is what Vlad is. Also, metamorph into a Naga, now Vlad is a more powerful Naga then Jo (Though Jo will know more tricks to being a Naga)

3. So?

(This is why you need a power boost)

Edit 2 - And before you complain about my guy, also remember Jareth is better, while Zalbag is equal. Ren is either equal now, or will be equal when Zal and Vlad get their magic items.


Edit - All they owe Vlad is several slaves, lots of money, and some things from their treasuries. But after all that is taken out, they would still have lost a big chunk of their things.

I still maintain and will continue to maintain Vlad is too powerful. You twinked him to copensate for any weakness. You shadow stops sunlight. You have a faerie capable of glamour in your thrall. You keep nereids around so you have no fear of fire. and your psychic powers give you the ability to control everyone.

Silver is bad. Garlic is bad. Sunlight is bad (If it is the day when he is fighting, split personality will be used to have to keep sun off of him). I fail to see how some glamour affects much, besides covering the shadow. Nereids are only there for the moment. He doesn't have them around all the time. And again, mages (And most fae) would have to be held down or something to be given the time so Vlad can dominate them.

He isn't over powered, you are just under powered.


Edit - And our opponent is a god you know, I think we would want strong people.

And a silver warhammer is just like a normal warhammer, but burns the spot it hits... A sword would have been much better.

True, but a warhammer, when swung enough, could even knock Vlad off balance for a few seconds. The burns are secondary to the free time needed for Zalbag to cast some sort of powerful fire spell.

Except that your guy is a mage. Mages tend to not be very physically strong. Chances of a mage hitting a vampire with anything but a spell isn't very likely...

He isn't the most physically strong, but he has trained in his weapon of choice, so he should be have the strength and skill necessary to be able to wield it with relative ease. It's not like he is pure mage, then picks up a silver warhammer for the first time in this one theoretical battle. He trains with his warhammer like he would train with his spells, so he isn't a powerhouse, but he isn't a pushover with his warhammer in melee.

And Vlad knows how to use a sword... Thing is, why run around swinging a big hammer when you can shot fireballs at them? And in my case, why even fight when you can control them?

Well, in the case of right this second, Vlad has his ring of neirads that he can force to bring up a wall of water protecting him. Assuming that we were both in an open field on our own, or the arena, or anywhere that Vlad didn't have his water nymph guard, he would just skip straight to the burning. And I have a nasty spell krylo approved my guy to use, but it will be a while before he is strong enough to cast it, so after he gets the amulet, and some time to refine his powers, I will formally mention said nasty spell.

And I will have a semi-counter (After magic item and refining)... Not sure what said spell is, but whatever it is my guess is Vlad will be able to weaken said spell enough to survive, then attempt to take down Zalbag before next spell.

This is a war hammer. It is a single handed weapon. I don't see why he couldn't use it. The two handed hammer is called a maul. It's a big sledge hammer really.

It's not that he couldn't use it, it's that his opponents (usually) are more agile then him, so it's easier to avoid/deflect his melee attacks over his spells.

Oh yeah! Talking about spells and skills and such reminded me of the water thingies from Dragon Knights I was going to look up today... and I have them, so I was wondering if Aidelyn could have this little power/ability:

They're called "Heaven's Aqua-balls" (I don't really like that name... I like "Heaven's Tear(s)" better ^^ heheh) And they are just small spheres of water that hold a bunch of water. (they all look about the same size, but they can vary on how much they hold) I would think it would be useful for her to make a lot of these before heading off and travelling where there wouldn't be a lot of water for her to rejuvinate in, since she needs a constant water supply close to her all of the time, and that might be kinda hard if they're always travelling once they get together with the main party.
She would have to make them where there is already water before, and it would take some energy actually making them, (more energy depending on the amount of water they hold) but once they are created, they don't take (hardly)any energy to keep them in their form and pretty much anyone can USE a "Heaven's Aqua-ball" but a Neried has to be the one to actually MAKE them..

So what do you think? Anything I should change about the skill?

Hmm, I was thinking warhammer in the Morrowind sense of a two handed weapon, but A) It makes more sense for a mage to carry a lighter weapon. He may be proficient with his weapon, but it is still a heavy weapon in the hands of a lightweight basically. And B) That pic reminds me that some warhammers are pointed on one side, or on the end like a sort of short spear, perfect for stabbing opposing vampires with...

I was planning on the 'anything' being their idea, since they could think of nothing to even out everything else they owed Vlad. Of course, they may have had a good idea or two before the yell of anything, but that was quickly wiped from their minds till something desperate came along.

But yeah, all Vlad did was force the betting to continue, and maybe choose the bets every now and then.

Dante's answer: When you are very high on some baaaaaad shit.

Textbook answer: The male snake discharges the spermatozoa through a cloaca and anal hooks that are inserted into the cloaca of the female during the breeding season. These hooks bind the male and the female together while the spermatozoa are being discharged.

In other words, a male snake uses anal claws to attach himself to the female and he bleeds his sperm into her through a vagina-like orifice... Much like tribadism.

Sorry about kinda sticking this on my back burner, but I don't have much to do with my character without Ren, and she hasn't been feeling well the last few days. Plus, I have things I need to happen with them/their courts before anything else happens too much. I'm going to advance the plot a bit today, however. Around this time tomorrow... or a little earlier (but in the middle of the night when all the rest of you are sleeping), I'll fast forward time a bit (about three or four days should do it I think). So do what you need to do this IC day and the next, and before that I'll do some Jareth/Ren/Ogre Army stuff.

If you all seem to have it taken care of by tonight I might do it pretty early tomorrow... or just add it into the midst of the Jareth/Ren stuff tonight, depending.

Anyway, that's fine JAD... just tell the guards you want to go back to your outfit instead of staying and they'll escort you out of the city.

Oh wait, you meant you, didn't you? Jareth and Ren don't really leave the faerie kingdoms until the beginning of Chapter 4, the way I have it planned out thus far. However, Zalbag is apparently going to be in the war with the ogre/orc army, and you're apparently following the horde and watching them... so you should be able to meet him then. So basically, you can meet Zalbag pretty quick here... and you can meet Jareth and Ren near the beginning of Chapter 4, if you're in the right place at the right time.

Also: Anyone else think it would be a good idea to start a thread around here where we could look over other people's RP styles and give them hints on improving them? Such as one poster I've seen who uses good description and what have you, but she (I'm assuming) puts those damnable asterisks around posts, and tends to use a lot of run ons. I think she could be pretty decent if she didn't do that.

And there are a few people that could do with some better description. You know, just various constructive criticisms to over-all style. I bring this up because I get sad reading a few RPs around here and see people that could be much better.

Yes, you are description lacking, but only when you're tossing up a quick post. You CAN put in description, as has been displayed quite often with Vlad here.

And yes, I was thinking of Crimson. She describes what her characters are doing pretty decently, but she uses lots of run ons (which annoy me) and asterisks.

I suppose you're right that they'd have to be willing to listen, however... I'd just like to be able to go into any RP started by anyone and see roleplaying that doesn't annoy me to read, due purely to it's content.

Well, I wasn't talking about anyone in this RP. If I was, I wouldn't have asked here... wanted the opinion of people that can RP whether it'd be worthwhile trying to help others. You're all pretty good, at least by my standards. Just a few people... like the ones in Aero's RP, and most of the people that join Crimson's rps... stuper of thought, and a few others, that I could see improving quite a bit.

I'm to cynical, stubborn, and all around annoyed/angry to care about helping the newb population, and I don't know if they would listen if any of the vets tried to correct them (I know when some people would recommend how to improve their posts to others, they just blew them off and still post horribly right now...), but I would support giving it a shot. New blood in the RP area is apprecieated as long as they are a good RPer and a good poster.

I just always write that way because often in RPs I'm foolish enough to wait too long before posting, and then I'm lost in the plot and I don't have anything interesting to say. (Man, I really need to work on fixing that!) But another problem is that most of the RPing goodness happens when I'm in school or asleep.

Mountain Dew? I can barely drink one of those before I get that flavor in my mouth... Drinking an MD can ruin your day if it's not what you wanted (I know because one time at school, the vending machine ran our of Dr P and water, so I tried MD. Never, ever again will I do that...)

Yah, when I had my teeth fixed I gave it up completely for about a month (because that's what made my teeth rot in the first place). I only drink one or two cans a day now... used to be ALL I drank, ever.

And, it's pop for certain areas, soda for others. Pop, however, is more efficient. Three letters, one syllable, and we accomplish the same thing they do in four letters and two syllables.

Yah, I don't give up nothin' unless it's for personal reasons (no new years resolutions and no lent). I'm glad I took a month off of pop, however. I now only drink it when I'm too lazy to poor a glass of milk (which is actually just too lazy to get the milk glasses out of my room and wash them), I'm really tired and need a little caffeine, or when I'm having a burger. Nothing compliments a burger like Dr Pepper. For the most part I like Milk better... and it isn't salted. Damn pop always leaves me thirsty.

As part of my anti-fat campaign... I am eating only two meals a day (would be one, but damn medicine has to be taken after meals), and I'm giving up all soft drinks... and eating half-portions... and taking those grapefruit diet pills...

It was a three day skip, so Vlad would have already gotten everything they owed him. He would get everything the first day so the slavers could taint/ruin his new stuff, and Vlad wasn't letting them home until then.

I wasn't going to do much until the next chapter, except for a few scenes where he tries to use his amulet/test out his amulet.

Well, IHMN said he wasn't going to do much this chapter... Celes and Ecurt are both with him... that pretty much leaves most of it to you two and me and Ren. Ren who keeps laying down for naps at around 4 pm and waking up at around 4 am. NAPs! Anyway... I'll try to give it a kick in the ass, if you guys don't mind me kind of placing you two. I'll begin the ogre/human army's battle on top of Biran's prison cell... in more detail, that is.

SS is technically in the RP, and he is technically part of my group (Which as of this point in the story is a very, very dangerous position...), but I don't know if he is really even in it anymore, or what he will be doing for the war (I'm guessing another draftee.)
