So, is anyone else going to go see it tonight?

I've read pretty positive reviews, and the Simpsons is pretty hard to screw up, so I expect it'll be good.

Saw a midnight showing. All I've got to say is, was that so hard? I don't see why they couldn't have done that like ten years ago...

Seriously, it was good though. Hardly any of the gags fell flat.

I just got back. Definately worth paying for.
Because all the pirated versions suck.
They somehow managed to take the jokes you saw in the trailers, and make it funnier the second (third? fourth?) time around. They also (for once) didn't put the funniest jokes into the previews. A lot of the humour comes from the build-up to the jokes, though there are a good number of funny one-liners. Lots of unexpected jokes, too.

By the way... expect to see a few jokes that they wouldn't allow on TV.
Bart nudity. Ralph homosexuality. Otto gets high. Etc.

See it as soon as you possibly can.

The audience was LAUGHING OVER the extra jokes too- the problem was the jokes were coming too fast. XD

Also, the opening was the best joke in the entire damn movie. "Why would I pay someone to see what I can normally watch on TV? You're all idiots! You and you and especially *points at Camera* YOU, SUCKERS!"

Wow, totally exceeded my expectations, and I had set the bar pretty freaking high. Since I haven't watched the Simpsons show in a long time, my impression (and expectation) of them are normally the quality of my favourite episodes (in my case, Homer vs. New York City).

And it won, big time! I give it a 9/10. Transformers eat your heart out.

It's good. Not spectacular, but pretty decent. Good enough to be worth the ticket price, anyway.

It was awesome. Second best movie of the summer (Ratatouille still owns the crown).

You know what was the best part of it? That the plot was always moving along.

Not spectacular?

I just got back from the movie, and all I have to say is, how could anyone not say this is amazing? Unless I guess the Simpsons type humor wasn't ever your thing, this IS it. It did what everyone thought it wouldn't, I think I can say exceeded most of our expectations following 5 lackluster seasons and had more throwbacks to the show than you can see in one or probably even two viewings. And nearly all those connections to the characters, inside jokes from the tv series and running gags continued from the show? They were from original and good seasons, seasons 1-10. I only saw like 2 that came from the later seasons, and they happened to be the really funny ones. The Movie hit it right and in all the right places. At least with this rabid Simpsons fan.

To top it all off, the movie even hit on a few of those other good 'non-comedic' moments the Simpsons are able to do well at times. But they magnified it with the 'movie magic', and well. In ways very similar to episodes I could name. The whole movie was a throwback and if you are a Simpsons fan, it hit the nail on the head.

But it should really be great even if you aren't.

And that's a review without even spoiling the movie for anyone.

You too?!! Yes, great episode, one of the best.

Anyway, I've been watching Simpsons off and on for the past five years, but prior to that I saw every episode. People seem to have been down on it recently, but I never noticed a drop in quality. It's been a pretty solid show in my opinion, never failing to be funny while still maintaining a PG rating (something that say, Family Guy could never do).

However the PG-13 rating certainly allowed for some more daring jokes, and I think it worked out great for it. This was an absolutely great Simpsons movie and I give it a 10/10, myself.

By the way, is the "end" for the Simpsons, or is the TV show going to continue?

I'm seeing this Wednesday and find the last season (at least) of the Simpsons unwatchable.

WILL I ENJOY MY EIGHT DOLLAR MOVIE?

I can say it absolutely, since when even Ruthless Reviews likes a movie (http://www.ruthlessreviews.com/reviews.cfm/id/1365/page/the_simpsons_movie.html), it must be good, err, as long as it's the type of movie you like, too (and not "Jingoistic". Man do they overuse "Jingoistic" at that site. EVERYTHING is Jingoistic with them, including giant robots fighting each other (http://www.ruthlessreviews.com/reviews.cfm/id/1354/page/transformers.html)).

Good!

Honestly, up until actual reviews started coming in I expected it to blow horribly, but I haven't heard one bad thing about it from anyone. Plus I just checked Rotten Tomatoes and holy fuck it's at 89%.

I haven't seen that many positive reviews since Pan's Labyrinth.

Neko, from that joke, I'd assume you have seen it? During the epiphany it happens, but I guess that's less orchestal, more like...

Something else. Someone just called it orchestral to me and it seems to be sticking =/ But yeah. And wasn't it like Harry Plomper or something silly?

I had forgot about it. And well, I saw the spanish version, where he was Puerco Araņa and Puerco Potter. So I really don't know what he was called on the other side of the river.

That movie was easily one of my top 3 comedies ever, (and I watch a hell of a lot of comedies) the pig stuff just cracked me up, it was just great joke after great joke, but my favourite part was right at the beginning where Greenday dies in the polluted lake

It was hilarious! I can't believe they showed Bart's penis. The movie was suitably absurd.

Very funny, worth paying to see, and MUCH better than the new Potter movie (which would have been a complete waste of time if it weren't for the brilliant special effects... but it was still a very dissapointing take on book, which was my least favorite in the series because it got downright dull at times).

But I wouldn't say it's as good as most people are saying. The Spider-Pig song ruled though.

Of course I saw it the day after watching the brilliant Ghost Rider movie (Played to perfection by Nicholas Cage) a second time, so maybe it's that.

Hmmmm, it was ok. Worth the ticket price but not much more.
It was just like a long Simpsons episode really. I guess I was expected something different from the movie.
