View Full Version : FF RP Discussion #5

Because the old one is already well over 100 posts, and there's still plenty to discuss.

Dante
02-04-2004, 03:07 AM
Ciaran, would you object to a chain vs rapier duel? Only catch - Dante will be using his Rending Chain, so Ciaran's dodging skills better be up to notch. Either that, or I'll control Ciaran and make him look good.

What do you think?

Krylo
02-04-2004, 03:36 AM
Hmm... That could be interesting. You go ahead and control him and make him look good. It'll take forever and a day otherwise, and I tend to only be concious at the same time as you about enough to actually be around for two of your posts per day.

Ciaran is acrobatic... and quick. He's not strong physically, but he's incredibly trained in the art of fencing. He may actually be able to partially parry the thing from time to time as well.

Dante
02-04-2004, 03:41 AM
Not much chance of that. The Rending Chain is essentially an Earth Lance in physical form. Hits from that thing are like focused explosive blasts. Should any idiot actually get it wrapped around him...

But I know what you mean. Ciaran actually has a good chance of taking Dante in physical combat, this Dante, at least. Since in fencing, the emphasis is on lightning quick lunges while simultaneously avoiding hits, Ciaran's fighting style is uniquely suited to fighting Dante, better than conventional slugging like Aragorn (block his hit, drop him with yours).

Dante here is pure power and not much flexibility. The mental programming is always to fight in a straight line, while Ciaran's methods probably involve much circle-strafing.

I'll try to put up as many posts as I can... though finishign Dante's involvement in Preos (is that the capital's name?) will require at least 2 10k posts...

Krylo
02-04-2004, 03:44 AM
Yip, Preos... and by parry I didn't mean actually take the hit with the sword and stop it... I mean more like, scrape past it with the sword and cause the chain to slow down or move just a little bit and making it easier for him to dodge. Although I'm not sure if even that would work.

For actual dodging... if you've ever seen Yu Yu Hakusho... and you've seen Kurama. Like that, only with the acrobatics only happening when unavoidable. He doesn't dodge so much from sheer speed, but flexibility and ability to anticipate attacks.

Edit: that one sentence had the word possible where it really shouldn't have been.

Dante
02-04-2004, 03:50 AM
I think i get it... like a spider on six legs, ready to mvoe in any direction and two legs ready to strike at any time... Hmm... it will be fun contrasting the two.

Krylo
02-04-2004, 03:55 AM
Yip... that's pretty much it.

Normally he's also very calm and taunting to opponents. He'd probably be like that with Dante until Dante proved to Ciaran that he's not one to be toyed with.

Dante
02-04-2004, 04:10 AM
WIll Ren be around? Should she be involved?

Krylo
02-04-2004, 04:32 AM
Hmm... I don't think she really has to be involved. In all honesty, knowing her character, she'd probably only care about Ciaran getting killed because she hasn't convinced him to make her empress... She'd probably be around... but if she interfered with the combat it wouldn't be good for Dante... with his hands already full with Ciaran...

Hmmm... how about... Dante blasts the doors open... Ciaran turns on the antimagic and orders the guards he gathered to attack, Dante kills them with the channeler's whip, Ren moves to attack with Ciaran, but Ciaran stops her because "This fight isn't fitting of her style"

Dante
02-04-2004, 06:03 AM
Heh... cool. Yes. Dante w/o magic + 2 very hostile masters swordspeople = dead mage.

Mr. Viewtiful
02-04-2004, 05:49 PM
First off: I'd like to congradulate you all for helping me get my first 100+ post thread! *gives cookies to all*

I can't wait to see Cieran and Dante duke it out...should you have the hero group perhaps barge in to inturrupt the fight if either one is about to win or in the event of a standoff? It'll be kinda like the movies...kinda...

IHateMakingNames
02-04-2004, 06:00 PM
Yeah... It's already over View

Mr. Viewtiful
02-04-2004, 06:08 PM
Whoops...shows how much I know :D

It was Brilliant! I give it two thumbs and a toe up!

EDIT: I just read the news that you gotta go to Thailand for 16 days. I guess the title 'Bound to Duty' fits even better now, eh?

Forever Zero
02-04-2004, 06:18 PM
"Hopefully we'll never meet again"? Sounds familiar *coughDezilcough*...

Regardless, an awsome battle, although I'm sure that's not the last we'll see of Dante, since there is vengence to be had on a certain group of mages...

Krylo
02-04-2004, 06:36 PM
Yes... Poor Ciaran though... within the next few days... well... you'll see. His life is hellish... That bit that Ren said before about power and keeping it... I think he MAY begin to start taking that seriously in the next little bit.

IHateMakingNames
02-04-2004, 06:40 PM
Deamons got no worries at all, just his sun burnt army. That will be fixed once it is morning though.

Forever Zero
02-04-2004, 06:43 PM
I'm guessing Deamon wished he had asked Dezil to invent sunscreen right about now...

Mr. Viewtiful
02-04-2004, 06:45 PM
Yes...sunscreen would work good...

So, since Ecurt's gonna be gone in a day or two, let's have a "Heroes are gonna plan some stuff" discussion. Any ideas?

Forever Zero
02-04-2004, 06:49 PM
Well, I'm guessing it still isn't safe for the heros to return to Preos yet to watch the fireworks, but I think that is our current plan to resume travelling there. It seems Ren is about to stage a coup, and Ciaran will get kicked out, so I'm guessing we arrive sometime after that and add Ciaran to the team. Then the threat will be the council of amges with plans of conquering the world or something, and Deamon and his army of Demons. I think once we return to Preos however, Dezil will have an idea...

(krylo, I see the whole scope of you plan now. This is going to be very good...)

IHateMakingNames
02-04-2004, 06:50 PM
Cept your wrong... (From what I know at least. I know most of the end of the RP)

Forever Zero
02-04-2004, 06:55 PM
I would guess you would, being possibly the main bad guy at this point. I am just outlining how I think it will go to the best of my knowledge. I'm also purposefully masking one thing I know will happen, but don't entirely know how it will effect the RP entirely yet.

Mr. Viewtiful
02-04-2004, 06:57 PM
A coup would certainly spice things up a bit, plus adding more tension and higher stakes to the final outcome. But, there goes that plan. It seemed so good, too. *tosses paper with 'PLAN' on it into the trash*

So, what's it gonna be? An epic fight of "10 or so heroes" vs. "10,000 demons+Daemon himself?" I don't like those odds...but Ecurt gots a plan, I'm sure :D

Any more ideas? (Perhaps this should stick to PMs between the people playing heroes, as everyone else seems to be doing it. Join the club!)

IHateMakingNames
02-04-2004, 06:58 PM
Your going to have armies, you need armies. Despite being a FF RP, it's not a small group of heroes over powering demon armies.

Krylo
02-04-2004, 06:59 PM
I wonder if Deamon and Dante are going to end up going head to head... from what I know it seems their goals may be conflictory.

IHateMakingNames
02-04-2004, 07:00 PM
Yes, yes we are... I can't wait 16 days. That's almost two weeks!

Krylo
02-04-2004, 07:01 PM
Hmm... Ten bucks on Dante!

Dante
02-04-2004, 07:07 PM
Incidentally, Dante *is* going to raise an army. Dezil knows about part of it. I'll try to get all the posts donw before I leave.

(Death! Death to overseas exercises! And making me walk into plague zones! Death, I say!)

Forever Zero
02-04-2004, 07:08 PM
That's over two weeks...

I'd put ten bucks on Dante too. Deamon may be a physical juggernaught, but Dane has a nearly unlimited amount of spell power.

Hmm, I might need to PM Dante about something too...

Krylo
02-04-2004, 07:09 PM
Exactly... and he's not too shabby in physical combat either... at least not so long as he has that evil evil chain thing. See him ripping magiteks apart with it?

And I don't know why he needs to RAISE an army persay... I mean, really, as powerful as he is, he could just TAKE an army...

IHateMakingNames
02-04-2004, 07:10 PM
You've only seen crappy human form Deamon holding his powers back... And he's never even really fought yet. Wait till he tries, then goes demon and tries... (Plus he has a trumph card, but he doesn't need it)

And that's why I said that an army of only 10,000 seemed odd (That is a small army...)

Dante
02-04-2004, 07:54 PM
Devil Deamon is about as powerful as Awakened Dante. This is all I can say.

And Dante needs an army for a number of reasons. One, being that he still needs to sleep, and two, because one man can still be overrun by ten thousand demons.

Krylo
02-04-2004, 07:59 PM
You know... all of the evil characters have 'super powers'. Ciaran just gets kinda shafted in his...

Deamon = All powerful demon from the pits of the abyss in command of an army.

Dante = All powerful channeler with nigh infinite magical energy at his disposal.

Ciaran = Pretty skilled fencer, and tactical genius who controls two countries and magitek technology.

Ciaran's power isn't his own... he just controls it... which leaves him kinda pathetic next to the other two evil guys.

IHateMakingNames
02-04-2004, 08:01 PM
Deamon needs an army because it's very easy to seal away just one demon, just try and seal away one demon while being attacked by thousands of demons.

And Deamon has some demon magic (Which is random crap I'm going to make up really, but just so he can do more then punching)

Truce
02-04-2004, 08:10 PM
Ahem. I hope Clique didn't happen to get killed while Ciaran held him captive.

Those from the village will also happen to be powerful.

Ripel: Dante knows what he'll be able to do...
Blyr: Basically much stronger Geomancy
Redael: He's a Sage. Powerful Magic (though certaintly can't compare with Dante or Deamon)
Clique: Summoner. Can bring Bahamut (the actual one, not just an incarnation) into this world for a short period of time. Of course..he'll die if he uses full power, just like Redael would.

One more thing. I can't help but feel that Ripel and Ciaran are like miniature versions of Dante and Deamon. Oh well.

Krylo
02-04-2004, 08:26 PM
I think I'll post something concerning Clique... I was going to release him out into the wild right after Ciaran became emperor, but I couldn't... and now I have another plan for him... but yes, I should probably do something so we all remember he's alive.

And Ciaran will be getting more powerful too... but not really himself. He'll just be gaining powerful technology. (Death field... for one thing)

Mr. Viewtiful
02-05-2004, 06:39 PM
This is going a little off-subject, but because he's as much a part of this RP (in the Omake thread), I've decided to make a profile for Thumpman!

Name: Thumpman

Physical Traits: Six feet two inches tall, 250 lbs. (a bit bulkier than his alter-ego, reasons unknown) As for appearance, see pic below. (Blue cargo pants, black basketball shoes, T baseball cap, blue football jersey, bandana and blue sunglasses hiding his identity in style, grey jacket, blingbling not shown)

Class: He's in his own class. Such is his awesomeness. 'Y'all can't touch this!'

Secondary Skill: see above

Background: Mr. Viewtiful got bored one day, and decided (along with the help of huis buddies on NuklearPowerForums) to make Blyr's alter-ego, Thumpman! Unlike Blyr, Thumpman can't use Geomancy or command animals, but he can do a heckuvalot more than that, including driving really fast, blowing up stuff, and overpowering foes with his 'superior musiocal taste.'

Special attacks: BIG HEAD THUMPIN' and any versions of it, weaker or stronger as needed.

Extra info: He enjoys cruisin' in his 2004 tricked-out Escalade, dubbed the 'Thumpmobile.' Carries a boombox wherever he goes, loves listening to music, playing pranks, and chillin' wit his homies. Can power up to several levels of 'Thumpinness.'

Pre-Rp Relations: Knows all the FFRP characters.

Krylo

IHMN--Reading that bit you had about the demons dying and coming back out through the gate, I assume that the death field WOULD kill them, but death to them is nothing more than being teleported back home, and that's why you said it would semi-work on Deamon?

IHateMakingNames
02-05-2004, 06:49 PM
1) Demon dies

2) Demon goes to netherworld

3) Gate to netherworld is open

4) Demon comes back, fully healed.

Use that for all demons, even human turned ones.

(This makes up for the small army numbers... Just need a couple of portals going from gate to where ever demons are needed)

Oh, and just closing the gate doors would not close the gate. You need super magic seals and such... And with Black guarding the gate (He will be once the demons start moving), that won't be so easy.

Forever Zero
02-05-2004, 07:12 PM
I think Dezil is getting hungy for some KFC...

*Pulls out flamethrower from Omake, and goes after Black*

J/k, especially since we are putting as much distance as possible from you and your demons...

And also, nice job Mr. V. I may have to make one for "Techmasta' D" now...

Yo, all.

I got the website up. Here's the link: http://finalfantasyrpomake.tripod.com/

I know it's a little basic and such, but it's only the beginning; soon, it'll be updated with all the Final Fantasy RP stuff, and I'll rule the world! MHWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHREEEAAH!

Note: I went a little crazy with what I typed and such, because the template had so many places to type in, and...well...I got bored :D

Be sure to bookmark it, I hope to update it tomorrow with more of the archived omakes.

batgirl

The rp is really exciting, but I was wondering if there would be anytime where an opportunity to introduce my character would come up. I don't want her to just walk up and be like "hey I'm here."

Krylo
02-08-2004, 05:44 PM
Well you could make her N'Revat and have her getting contacted by one of the nobles turned messenger, or someone they conscripted to look for troops for them.

CelesJessa
02-08-2004, 08:56 PM
Man I hate always leaving for the weekend and coming back to see all of this I need to catch up on... I know I didn't miss a heck of a lot, but where exactly is everyone at the moment and should Kairi be able to meet them sometime soon?

Hey Batgirl, if you want to, you can have your character run into Kairi (is she's a good guy) and then that's how she can join the group. *shrugs*

batgirl
02-08-2004, 09:01 PM
hm...that might be a good idea Celes because then I don't have to make up a whole history thing myself while the others advance the plot more. I'd rather meet a character right away. PM me and we'll work it out.

Mr. Viewtiful
02-08-2004, 09:02 PM
Dezil, Ciaran, Ren, and Blyr are exiting Preos at this point (I believe), with the rest of the heros in a small camp outside Preos. Daemon is somewhere enjoying his new army...

Ciaran: OF DOOOOOOM!!!

Yes, it is very DOOMalicious, enough to have Ripel and co. join up with Ciaran and co.

On a side note, I put up all the omakes to date on the official FF:RP website (http://finalfantasyrpomake.tripod.com/) Please, leave me feedback, suggestions, commments, etc. on the news Blog, e-mail, PM, or whatever.

BTW, does anyone know how Blogs work? I'm trying to figure it out, but having trouble.

Krylo
02-08-2004, 10:05 PM
Actually, Ciaran, Blyr, and Dezil are still in the castle, heading for the secret library so they can find the fabled exploration report #223...

Mr. Viewtiful
02-09-2004, 01:11 AM
Oh. I knew that :D

I was assuming the library was outside the castle, but looks like I was wrong.

Ciaran: MWAHAHAHA! You be doomed!
Mr. V: Phooey...

Truce
02-09-2004, 01:51 AM
Ahem.

I am back!

As for Ripel...he's still gone for the chapter.

Carolina: Why are you not with the others?
Ripel: Simple, didn't you read the post above? They're DOOMed!
Carolina: Ahh...yes. Why didn't I figure that out...oh well.
Ripel: Hey, aren't you supposed to be unconscious?
Carolina: What are you talking *WHAM! She's knocked out by a baseball*
Ripel: Carolina?

Deamon: Geez! That's the thirty seventh time you've lost us a ball Dante!
Dante: Sorry. It's really hard to swing this long chain thing properly.

Woo! Welcome back, Ecurt!

SS and you both came back the same day. Lucky us.

Forever Zero
02-09-2004, 03:33 PM
First off, welcome back Ecurt and SS.

Second, as a quick note, due to an insane 17 page project I had to write up in a six hour span of time due to my utter procrastination, laziness, and forgetfullness, I haven't slept in 24 hours, and have had to keep my self going on a diet of practically nothing but Dr Pepper and Twix with extremely hot chicken occasionally. I am roughly 90% sure I am at this point mildly insane, and due to a barrage of idiots I've had to deal with today, I am on a very short fuse, but two comments.

1. It isn't a death orb, it's a Death Field. It is not some gun that can be shot, it is closer to a force field that kills everything in it. And there is no explosion or debris from it, it is silent, sudden, and efficent. It kills any biological being inside, and harms nothing outside. Also, it only killed half the population of Preos, so while the city is in bad shape, it isn't shut down, and is a viable option. The city is in decent condition, since Dante did just get in a week ago or so, and has not been leveled or damaged by the Death Field, only Dante, and most of the remaining population will be in a panic but unharmed otherwise. IHMN mentioned it, I will as well in more ranting detail.

2. <Reserved for Ecurt after reconsideration of my comment> But aside from that, isn't it a little sudden for Ark's SECOND action back to suddenly turn into some badass angel bent on redeeming himself, when it totally contradicted one storyline, contradicted something Ecurt told me in PM, AND contradicted his entire former cahracter?!

Now, I will comment that I'm in a horrible mood right now, so don't take it personally, and I am somewhat rephrasing what IHMN mentioned, but these are two points I wanted to bring up from the one night I missed FF RP, and the storyline takes a HUGE 180 and leaves me going, "Wha... What the F*&$ just happened?!"

EDIT: Ecurt, could you clear a PM slot when you get this?

IHateMakingNames
02-09-2004, 04:02 PM
1. Yeah...

2. I'm not even going to consider Ark any type of angel or holy thing, just a guy with wings and a fancy sword...

I think he mainly did this just so he can say he can beat Deamon, since he is a demon, the opposite would be an angel.

--

And as for the story, from what I know, the story is pretty basic from now on.

batgirl
02-09-2004, 05:35 PM
G'ah! Don't kill me! I'm sorry!

I'm not taking it personally at all. Celes and I were trying to work out some way of us meeting that didn't involve me walking up to her and saying "hi complete stranger, you wouldn't happen to be part of a merry band of heroes would you?" and we came up with me being somewhere in the vicinity of Peros. I apologize for not knowing about the Death Field's capabilities and such (actually I called it a blast and IHMN told me it was an orb) and I had originally thought that people survived. I'd rather not edit my post, since we're kinda past it, but if you want me to, I will. Sorry again.

Mr. Viewtiful
02-09-2004, 06:40 PM
Ecurt, who is too lazy to go to his house and use the internet there-Hi! Yes, I know that the Ark as an angel thing is odd. First, I said no. Then, I reconsidered when I thought IHMN was not arguing (if he didn't object, then why not?) and vetoed that objection. Of course, I was wrong (though I this will be one of the few times I admit it), and now am going to have to veto that previous veto. Sorry SS.

Mr. Viewtiful adds: Yo! *insert advertisement about the website here* Yeah, I know I'm getting a little obsessed with this, but I havn't gotten much feedback on it and stuff. So...WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? Back on topic...about the Arc-angel thing, (Score! Another pun for Omakes!) it sounds like a good idea, but we already have a scheme going (according to Ecurt, at least).

PS: Ecurt's the coolest.

Ecurt, take two-It's true, it's true. To do this now, and out of the blue...well, I've thought about it, and no. Though...Ark was a valued member of the team, and with the Zombification fields...well, heh, he can return as a Zombie if people want him to. It's my pitiful attempt to keep everyone here...heh.

Mr. Viewtiful adds: Well, you could change it so Arc only went into a coma, or some other thing which would allow him to not die in the first place, maybe involving him getting lost and stealthily tracking Kairi/Naras...

Ecurt says: That's a pretty good idea, Mr. Viewtiful. You're the bestest guy evar! YOO R TEH RO><0RZ!!! BL3H!

Mr. Viewtiful: Darn straight, yo.

Ecurt: They seriously can't think that's me. *Shakes head* You're pitiful at attmpting to be me. I would never say that. Pitiful indeed...

Besides, I am IS TEH RO><ORS!!!1!1!eleveny-one!!! Take that, SIDEKIECK!!!

Mr. Viewtiful: Pitiful? I'm sure you mean VIEWTIFUL!!! *flashy pose* And we all know that Ripel may be the hero of the show, but Blyr is not the sidekick! That's the last time I let Ecurt on my account again. Now, if you'll excuse me...*chases Ecurt out of house with a baseball bat*

*Note: Yes, Ecurt was here posting with me. I did not make this whole thing up. Just part of it :D -Mr. V*

IHateMakingNames
02-09-2004, 06:46 PM
That confused me, but if it goes how I think, it ends with Ark not being an angel, so I agree.

CelesJessa
02-09-2004, 06:47 PM
...Now I have the urge to make an omake with us in it rather than the characters and Mr. Veiwtiful would have multiple personalities.

Anyhoo. (I do like the website, there, are you happier now. ^_^ )

Well, Arc can feel free to run into Kairi's little group. ^^ We seem to be the group for people who are out of the loop. ^_^ heheh.

Mr. Viewtiful
02-09-2004, 06:50 PM
Yup. That sums it up pretty well.

Sorry about seeming to bite your head off batgirl, like I said, it was a bad day, and the sudden confusion over what was going on didn't help. I'm feeling better now, and it'll all work itself out. And as for the SS thing, when did he ever die? I never knew he even got wounded, I thought he was following along safely...

Oh, and the PM is irrelevant now...

And that post is very confusing...

Oh, and I like the site Mr. V. I look forward to putting in some new Omakes when I can get my stuff together and actually post one.

02-09-2004, 07:41 PM
Yah, I liked the site too, Mr. V. I even left a comment there for you!

It's cool. sorta.

Darth SS
02-09-2004, 07:44 PM
I should probably mention NOW that there's actually a third and a fourth stage to Arc's little thingy.

And the sword is there for being t3h shinies, and to give to someone who has a clue in all hell as to how to use it.

And I fully intend for this to come and bite him in the ass. Seriously, wouldn't people be pissed if you picked the lock on the gate to mortality, ran away, and mostly all because you screwed up in your life so you wanna cheat and get more time?

Most likely.

And no, he isn't going to turn into some sort of priest. IF Ecurt lets me finish this thing.

IHateMakingNames
02-09-2004, 07:47 PM
Still just sounds like you want wings and a glowy sword.

And I do not know why the gate between life and death (For humans) would have such a crappy lock (It being pickable means it is crappy since it is an important door), but wouldn't 'God' just smite Ark right there and then?

I can use Deamon as an example. He is basically the demon 'God'. If some demon tried to run away from him, he would kill it.

Darth SS
02-09-2004, 07:49 PM
In due time...in due time.

And I'll spoil it a bit now, and just say that the wings aren't gonna' be there long. Neither is the sword.

Forever Zero
02-09-2004, 07:50 PM
If he gets absolutly no benafits from it, why do it at all?

IHateMakingNames
02-09-2004, 07:51 PM
No, the benifit he does get is eternal damnation... With Deamon most likely...

God is not a forgiving person. Use any religion as an example if you want, Gods are mean.

Darth SS
02-09-2004, 08:01 PM
Dude, I'm catholic. We get pretty good examples of how unforgiving he can be *coughlucifercough*

And this is mostly for character development.

IHateMakingNames
02-09-2004, 08:04 PM
The Bible alone is just a big story of how much of a jackass god is...

And you couldn't have thought of a better way then

Ark dies, he escapes death by picking the lock, is semi-angel, goes through some wierd phsycial/emotion/mental transformation?

Darth SS
02-09-2004, 08:05 PM
Don't diss the big dude.

And it's gonna' be more like mental/emotional/physical mutilation then anything.

02-09-2004, 09:15 PM
*Sigh* You know, it's not really up to me anymore. It's up to the rest of you to sort this out, because now even I'm confused.

Besides, if a bad decision is made it keeps me exempt from fault. Sorry.

Also, no religious arguments here. I'd rather not have that, and I will report them. The arguments not allowed in the rules, and fuel hate anyway.

Krylo
02-09-2004, 09:35 PM
Well... it seems kinda hokey and cliched... but I really don't care so long as it doesn't effect the plot too much, or make him super powerful, or whatever.

In other words, I don't exactly approve... but my feelings aren't strong either way.

I will also say that while I don't like it, as long as it doesn't make him super powerful, I also will let it slide. BUT, if Ark comes out of this some super thief, I'm putting my plan back in (Ecurt knows what it is.).

Read the fineprint. Leaders are allowed to abandon responsibility over decisions that would damn him either way. :D

Anyway, this is concerning only one character. My bias over that roleplayer could affect what otherwise would be a fair verdict. So, it would be better for you guys (who would be the ones to complain if there was a big mistake made) to settle this the way you have it.

It's the simplest and best way in my opinion.

Ecurt was always good at getting himself out of trouble...hehehehehe.

As far as my opinon goes: go ahead. I'm curious to see what might happen...(in both FZ's and SS's cases)
