Does anybody remember this cartoon? I like the music in it, you know, that ultra heavy metal rock with the really heavy drums. That cartoon was actually pretty cool, especially because it was so violent (which must have really pissed off the censors, which is even better).

This thread should probably go into the animation section.

Yes, this should go in Animation.
And yes, Mighty Max was totally awesome.
You know I bet if you were to chart the correlation of shows having a villain with a skull for a head (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Skullmaster_Mighty_Max.png) and being totally awesome, you would find that it was one hundred percent radical to the max.

Well, I don't know exactly what you were intending to link to, but you instead linked to one of your little RaiRO threads.

I have no idea what you are talking about, as my original and totally un-edited post links to and has always linked to the wikipedia photo of Skullmaster.

Fuck Yes Mighty Max.
Aside from the whole "Kid with a magic baseball cap" thing, it was a kickass show. That badass figher dude Norman always seemed like a DND character to me.
EDIT: Why did this kid know how to rig up like sixty different items? I never realized he was MacGuyver.
EDIT'S EDIT: Even the guitar kicks ass in this show.

My cousin recently bought a bucketfull of Mighty Max figures off of eBay for $10. He used to collect 'em when he was smaller and he decided he'd start it back up again.
Damn, those figures are cool.
Anywho, I never realized there was a show. I think I'll have to look into that one.

I give. Does anyone have an MP3 of the theme song?
This is the kind of shit that makes you a rabid fanboy. Listening to the theme, watching the show, etc after like eight years.

I never watched the show very much, but the little tiny figurine play set thingies that were popular for a while I got a few of, the spider guy set and the Skullmaster set.

oh man, that series was crazy. After it ended, they did something so it was all erased and they went back to the first episode. I guess it was a way for them to justify showing reruns :shifty:

Ooh. Mighty Max rocked my childhood. I remember having all the little figures, and models. They were awesome.

Mighty Max was awesome, but as I watch it, I realize just how much cartoons have changed since our time and now.
Every Might Max episode pretty much starts with someone somewhere dying. Nowadays, you'd be hardpressed to actually KILL someone in your cartoon, not to mention have the bad guys scream continuously about how they're going to kill you.

This reminds me of when in spanish class we did a report on our childhood and when someone mentioned MM there were a few cheers.
Shows like this and Sonic are why I love American anime. Besides Avatar we just dont have shows like this anymore.

I hate censorship. I mean, c'mon, if the villain doesn't even want to kill the good guy, then how is he frightening? Mighty Max I think was a mark of 1990s cartoons because the 70s and 80s were so heavily controlled by censorship, especially angry white parents who were uncontrollably pissed off about how there was supposedly some real bad stuff on TV. That censorship was cancelled when the 80s were over, I think, and "The Ren and Stimpy Show"/"Ren and Stimpy" was a pretty good example of that, too. Whereas now it's completely ruined because the censorship is even worse now than it was in the 70s and 80s. Having a character die, let alone die realistically, would get someone sent to prison. Making a cartoon that doesn't have a woman in it, let alone that doesn't have a psychopathic feminazi whose only goal in her existence is to humiliate, insult, dehumanize and otherwise castrate men, is illegal. The 80s may have had more censorship than the early to mid-90s, but they were better because the censorship of the time was utterly insignificant compared to what there is now. Remember that even though nobody died in the original 80s Transformers cartoon, it was pretty violent; the robots were all male (except Arcee and the other Fembots, but I digress), were typically markedly masculine (Optimus especially), and they all had lasers and missiles and stuff. Whereas in the (fortunately) short-lived "Beast Machines" series, most robots didn't have guns, and those that did didn't have guns that seemed very realistic. I think that the guys who make cartoons need to grow some spheres, stop being politically correct, and stop bending over and spreading their ass cheeks for the censors. Either A, stop making cartoons, because they can't be good if there's censorship around, or B, completely kill censorship and allow cartoons to not suck. And what the Hell is the deal with all this Japanese crap? Pokemoron? Dragon Testicle Z? What happened to American cartoons, which don't suck? (And yes, I'm fully aware that the 80s TF cartoon was made in Japan and that the whole Transformers thing is a Japanese idea, but you get the point...and you can't deny that Optimus Prime was pretty much John Wayne's best characters all rolled into one and turned into a giant robot. Also, Cullen admitted that the voice he created was based on Wayne's voice. I'd have to admit that this is true, because I once heard a sound clip that definitely made Optimus sound like Wayne. "Remember, there's a thin line between being a hero...and being a memory.") Anyways, I'm pretty sure I've traveled at least a few light years past the point of this thread. But yeah, there's my two cents.
