Are my eyes playing tricks on me, or is that a Japanese Winnie the Pooh? 'Cause if it is, I'm no longer sure which nation's ripped more off the other.

That depends. Is Winnie the Pooh a stop-motion film about a stop-motion film?

I dunno. Is it really a stop-motion film? By which I mean, it looks like it might be a CGI film that is meant to visually imitate a stop-motion film.

Japan was a fisherman's village just starting to phase out Samurai and replace them with flintlock guns when Winnie the Pooh was written!
In Britain, I might add.
Fifthfiend has Chrono Trigger, I have my stuff.

Yes (http://translate.google.com/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Fblog.excite.co.jp%2Fkoman eko-movie%2F4235486&langpair=ja%7Cen&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&prev=%2Flanguage_tools), yes (http://translate.google.com/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Fblog.excite.co.jp%2Fkoman eko-movie%2F4234581%2F&langpair=ja%7Cen&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&prev=%2Flanguage_tools) it (http://translate.google.com/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Fblog.excite.co.jp%2Fkoman eko-movie%2Fpg%2Fblog.asp%3Feid%3Dc0084780%26iid%3D4%2 6acv%3D%26dif%3D%26opt%3D2%26srl%3D4235024%26dte%3 D2006-05-10%2B00%253A34%253A00.000&langpair=ja%7Cen&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&prev=%2Flanguage_tools) is (http://translate.google.com/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Fblog.excite.co.jp%2Fkoman eko-movie%2Fpg%2Fblog.asp%3Feid%3Dc0084780%26iid%3D4%2 6acv%3D%26dif%3D%26opt%3D2%26srl%3D4294883%26dte%3 D2006-08-08%2B13%253A40%253A00.000&langpair=ja%7Cen&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&prev=%2Flanguage_tools). There are some 3D elements (I spotted "CGI" in the credits, but there's also a "semi-3D-animator"), but from what I could gather from the translations (http://translate.google.com/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Fblog.excite.co.jp%2Fkoman eko-movie%2F4234897%2F&langpair=ja%7Cen&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&prev=%2Flanguage_tools), most of it seems to be for adding onto the facial expressions.

which might I add was named after a bear found by a Canadian Soldier in WWI and named him after his home town.
