From an article about the Simpsons entering the 18th seasons.
"Groening's schedule is especially full these days. Besides his work on "The Simpsons," he and partner David Cohen are bringing one-time Fox series "Futurama" back to TV with new episodes on Comedy Central beginning in 2008."

This is a very good thing indeed, though I think the big question make will be this: Will Comedy Central change the format or the humor any? I doubt it, but I see it as it's biggest question mark.
Oh please this is not another teaser. I am seriously hoping they do bring it back. So much better then Family Guy (IMO)

Well, conserning the source, there's got to be quite some truth behind it.

I've come to regard any rumour about Futurama as being untrue. If I hear it's being brought back, I automatically assume it's NOT. If I hear it's not being brought back, I assume it will be.

I seriously doubt that Futurama's coming back any time soon. At least, not until Groening's done milking his Simpsons cow.

No, they confirmed it a while back. I could have sworn that they even said, "Futurama's Coming Back For Real This Time!"

Uh...I really hate to break it to you but Futurama is most definatly coming back...I heard as early as next year...They supposedly have some episodes that were already made when it go canceled and I sure as hell can't wait until 2008 for new episodes...
also just to be absolutely clear that it is coming back: http://www.tvsquad.com/2006/06/22/new-episodes-of-futurama-coming-to-comedy-central-for-real/
There are some links off of this one to more reputable sources...I'm just too lazy to give them to you...so look yourself if ye be a true fan.
and I think that it's going to be just fine...we'll have the old Futurama back
Also you could just look on Comedy Centeral's Website...it's there too, man
Oh and I notice nobody mentioned that the reruns of Futurama are leaving Adult Swim soon and going to Comedy Centeral...just thought you should know...

Man, I hope AS tried to fight to keep it.....That was one of their more popular shows.

I'm not sure how hard they fought but they had some stiff competition...I mean they must have a limited budget and since Adult Swim is only part of a channel and Comedy Central is a channel by itself...it could be worse...what if Nick at Night had been in the running for it? O.O

I would have much, much rather seen Futurama on AS, than on Comedy Central.
It just seems the better fit, somehow.
But whatevs. I'm going to be totally honest, I am going to believe that they are making new episodes of Futurama just as soon as I turn on my television, flip to Comedy Central, and see that they are, that moment, airing a new episode of Futurama. And not a moment before.

Anyway, since this thread's also about Matt Groening's work in general, anyone else hear anything about a Simpson's movie that's susposed to be coming out?

Heh, you know whats Ironic? He won't ever finish milking it until he's gone through and told every story possible using that 5 person family. Remember Odyseus? Howabout Hamlet? Yea, he likes to do those kinds of things. So long as there's a classic to be retold, there will be a simpsons.;)
Fun Fact, In Hamlet, Bart played Hamlet, and Hamlet's secret love Ophelia was played by Lisa.:whee:

Well although the official news was announced almost 4 months ago. (Yes it was so no saying it wasn't) They had not signed the deals for the actors at that time. They could have gone to the trash bin pretty quickly without the original actors. I also think that new episodes of Futurama are fabulous. I am going so far as to say that futurama is my favourite show of all time. (Yes supernova i am serious) I will stay home and watch those episodes if it means that I have to avoid homework.

Oh yeah? Well if that's true, how come I'm only just hearing about it now? Eh? Eh?!
Let's hear you explain that! With all your fancy science, and medicine, and education, and elite seperatist sewing circles!

I think you answered your own question. Those elite seperatist sewing circles conspired to keep the information away from you.

Well that and it was never really mainstream news, so there was never any news about it in the newspapers. You really had to search around for it. Myself personally found out about it at tv.com.

I probably should have asked in my first post, but what the hell is AS? Animation Station? >_> I have no idea. Personally, I thought Futurama would have fit on the Space Channel as well as Comedy Network.

Oh.....pthbtbt.
Anyways, Teletoon's been airing Futurama almost every night ever since the series started, even though they're all repeats now. I have no doubt the series will be on there, so I'll be happy. But if it isn't, I have Comedy Central anyways. Why does it matter what channel it's on anyways?

Forgot about that.
Heh, remember Oedipus tennis?
Thinking about this, how long until we get Macbeth? And no the thing with Ian McKellan doesn't count.
