So, has anyone considered retelling the great epics in web comic form? Like horatius at the bridge, or beowulf? There's some good stuff there and it should just lay there languid.

No, but I've been thinking of doing an Iliad rap for quite a while.

Why do I find that so ungodly hilarious?

Coincidentally, and it crossed my mind right after I saw the whole "Iliad X," the Iliad in space line, one of my favorite sci-fi books IS more or less the Iliad in space. Ilium and Olympos. Granted, those books actually make some SENSE, but enh.

And an Iliad rap...*vomits*

The Iliad is the world's oldest extant rap anyway, so you can kindly unvomit.

It is a poem, originally improvised, sung by an illiterate poet and accompanied by song, that set forth the greatest virtues of its age and people. What do you think rap is?

This doesn't speak so well for our culture, granted, but that's beside the point.

No I mean, Odysseus was all about the bitches and whores.

That too. And Achilles got some seriously pimp threads.

Christ, I'm such a nerd.

Well, some playwright is already bringing Seven Against Thebes into he "hip-hop" culture, and I hear Oedipus Rex is next.

Yeah I guess I see it now, Achilles and Diomedes cruisin' downtown, uh, by Agamennon's tent, in their escalade, uh, two-man chariot, sippin' gin and juice, uh, ambrosia and wine. And later Achillies would be all like "Yo Hector, why you gettin' all up in my grill like dis?" But of course in paying homage to Homerian text, you'd have to rap really long, more or less irrelevant backstories before they busted caps in each others asses.

Man, why did I ever consider vomitting to that...

Well, when you think about it, The Iliad is a classic example of the dire consequences of putting hos before bros.
