Okay, so i just got finished watching the first episode of the Bleach dub(take THAT American suckers) and i can sufficiently say that i'm impressed with what i've seen so far. Ichigo's voice is more or less what i imagined it would sound like. Rukia, well she kinda sounded alot older than she looked. Since it was just the first episode we haven't gotten to hear the other characters, but if they're anything like Ichigo and Rukia then i'm sure i'll be impressed with them(though probably not with Inoue, since she's being voiced by the woman who voiced Hinata in Naruto).

So for anyone else whose seen it, what did you think?

I enjoyed it. My friend has been trying to get me onto Bleach for ages, and I don't know why I've been resisting.

Fuck resistance! Viva le submission!

Definately one of the better dubs I've heard, though. I'd put it up with .hack//SIGN as to character matching. I also happen to like the FMA dub, as well, so I'm not sure what that says about my judgement.

Aside: Major, vive le Canadiens!

Yeah I was pretty impressed about it also...Ichigo couldn't have sounded better!...Rukia though...was a little flat and energy-less...there was just something I didn't like about the actor's approch to the character...and I'd think that Inoue will sound that bad...can totally see her with a Hinata like voice or something simmilar...yeah not exactly the same...though the only voice for Inoue is the Leekspin one!

on your 'Rukia sounding older' thing, so you know she also sounds abit old in Japanese one early on. But in a few episodes it was great, so probably be the same. All voices so far are solid. But I realize why Ichigo irked me (and my friends), it wasn't bad. In fact it was good. Its just... THAT'S VASH THE STAMPEDE. Will take me awhile to get used to that.

I have one voice complaint. What did they do to Kon!? *cries*

The voice acting wasn't terrible. I think I will be sad when we finally hear Orihime. I have a bet going on that she will sound breathy.

When I heard Kon at the end my mouth was open. Poor Kon! I guess it kinda fit him but.. It should been more smooth I guess. Ugh! Poor Kon! T.T

I watched it this morning on Tivo. I liked it. I even liked Kon's bit at the end, but I think it'll take a bit of getting used to. I think the voice fits his personality well. (Don't crucify me. I rather enjoy living. =D)

Just thank whatever gods you believe in that that they didn't sign the lady that voiced Naruto. I watched half an episode of the dub on youtube and had to start making a mental list of all the things I still had left to do in life.

well when I thought about it, Kon's voice in Japan was pretty sucky too. Sad thing is Fenris has a point, even if its not that great it does fit better. After All Kon is a self absorbed egotist with a love of big breasts.

I still remember when I brought my Kon plushie home.
"Why does he look angry?"
"Hey if you were stuck in that thing you would be mad too."

LIES!! I still don't think she will sound "breathy". As stated earlier, the voice of Hinata (the supposed "breathy" voice) is going to be used for another character.

In general, I thought that the voices somewhat matched their voices. Ichigo's voice was hard getting used to at first. As Aerozord mentioned earlier, since it's Vash's voice, I always think Vash when I hear that voice. Now that it's been used for another main character, it'll be hard getting used to hearing it as Ichigo and not Vash.

Anyway, I do think Rukia's voice sounded somewhat monotonous... She's trying to go with the "badass" thing, but I think the voice makes it sound as if she's trying too hard. Also, the voice of that ghost girl Ichigo helped in the beginning sorta irked me a bit.

I've been watching Bleach with my anime club since last year, so I can be considered an authority on the subject (read as "fan"). Here's what I have to say...

About The Episode Itself - Well done. Bravo. You couldn't have hooked me better if I was JUST getting into the thing. It's a matter of fact that I missed the first few episodes of the show at my club, so this is a perfectly unbiased judgement of a first episode in english. Everything made sense and it was made of awesome. And I always laugh at Rukia's drawings. :D

Ichigo - Damn, I freakin' KNEW it was Vash The Stampede judging by the way he shouted at Rukia! I will say, though, that I agree with the voice of this character. They did him well. His style and the way he treats others around makes him a very likeable character.

Rukia - Alright, I'm hearing some complaints about the deadpan or older-sounding voice of Rukia, and I have to say...she's suppose to sound that way. She's alot older than she looks and totally committed to her job. You see her brighten up a bit when she's sending the old guy spirit along, though. Mostly, Rukia is all business and not so use to the living world, so I think they did her well.

Kon - Maybe it's because I was use to his whiny voice in Japanese, but this new voice for Kon threw me for a loop as well. I can't say whether this is an improvement or not, so I'll just go and say it'll take some getting use to. After all, aren't ALL Modified Souls a pain in the butt?

Other Things - Here's something I always found funny. In the fan-sub my club was watching, they always called the Soul Reaper/Shinigami swords by their literal name, "Soul Slayers", a literal translation. But in the english version, they're using the Japanese name for the swords. How very strange...

Final Judgement - I think that anyone who hasn't seen Bleach by way of YouTube or a club or Japanese imports will like Bleach alot. I think it will be very popular here, since I've always regarded it as a bizarre but original paralel to Yu Yu Hakusho. Those who HAVE seen it will probably like it in english as well as in Japanese. All and all, this one's a success.

Not necessarily, Nova and Cloud are awesome. I do however, not like Kon and Ririn. I think they're just annoying.

But in the english version, they're using the Japanese name for the swords. How very strange...

That's because Zanpaktou sounds way cooler than Soul Slayer.

Relax, I was only making a joke. In reality, I do like Nova and Cloud's just...weird. Cloud needs to talk to his tailor a bit, I think. That, and go to a proper hair salon.

And since we're on the subject of future characters, does anyone know who'se going to voice Zaraki Kenpachi? He's my favorite guy in all of Soul Society.

That honestly makes sense of the whole thing, once you think about it. She does try to be in charge and ahead of things, a superiority type. She probably would be trying to hard.

Had I not already heard the more, shall I see, youthful Japanese voice, it'd probably feel spot on.

I second/third/whatever the 'getting used to it' thing.

Not really, in the manga they are called Zanpakto. Besides soul slayer isn't even a direct translation. If I recall it actually mean soul/ghost cutter. But compared to either that sounds kinda lame.

To be honest I personally almost always call them 'swords'.

oh and there is one thing I didn't like about anime itself. I hate the ending theme of the first season, I'm sorry but I always skipped it. I just wish I could skip it again. Compared to every other ending (and for that matter opening) themes that one just isn't that good. After all Bleach won several awards for its themes. I often watched them just because I liked the music and animations

Really, the only voice I have a problem, and I mean a TRUE problem with, is Chad.

Not one iota of a bit near as gruff as it should be. Far, far, far too light. That may just be the VA getting into the role, and I hope it is, because when Chad talks, it's supposed to be one of those rare, attention demanding voices.

That...just was far too light.

Also, my biggest problem with the show thus far: Opening. Why is it fastforwarded? I've seen that thing a dozen times and the words aren't that pressed, nor are they so, What's the word...squeaky? Something.

But the coolest opening since FMA and it gets fastforwarded?

Something I do not find cool. Not find cool at all.

Mes, the intro isn't fast-forwarded. It is the same as it has always been. To make sure I was right I listened to the English version then listened to the Japanese and then listened to the full version I have. They are all at the same speed.

Yeah all the voices were pretty good...even Rukia's was better than before but Chad's definatly needs some work that's the one I have an issue with...

Major Blood: What did you find wrong with Inoue's voice?

Sorry, Major Blood, but I don't agree with you. Nor you, Maden. I listened and I watched. I've seen the show in Japanese and now in english. At first, I thought maybe Inoue sounded like a normal person, but then her goofier side kicked in and I realized, "Nevermind. She sounds about right, after all." Chad's voice sounded okay to me. The thing is...is that he isn't a big talker anyway, so there's really no big deal. As for the intro, NO. It is not fast-forwarded. It's exactly as I remember it. You only think it's faster because it's a naturally fast-paced intro-theme.

Sorry, but I say that all is right in the Bleach world so far.

Alright, about the voices, I personally like Rukia's voice better than when she goes to school. The voice seems fitting to what her "physical" appearance is shown compared to her voice in the first episode. The rest of the voices seem to match (from what little of the show I've been introduced to).

Also, I found it interesting when that little boy was being chased by the Hollow, and Rukia started asking him all these questions. I found that to be really agitating even though Ichigo just saved the kid anyways, despite all the questions being thrown at him. Personally, seeing the little boy being devoured by the Hollow would've been interesting. I just think Rukia was being a big dickhead about it.

In short, I'm not too fond of Rukia....

Rukia was trying to force Ichigo into doing the soul reaper thing. Ichigo basically responded 'screw that, I will save who ever I feel like'

Though so you know, later on you learn why Rukia is such an all business type.

I dunno. When I watched it on the Adult Swim, the words were DEFINITELY more blurred, almost slurred together. And some of the scenes I'm quite sure went by faster.

You know what's odd? It was only in the second airing that night. The first one was fine, but when I saw the second, I thought "What the hell, man?!"

Still want to smack someone for Chad's voice.
