View Full Version : Five Swords of Death

It has been years since the wielders of the five swords have been awakened. Though it was not long before they found clues about the creator. Those that have seen his face quickly recognized it on news programs. The man who shared his face was Roy Borne, one of the wealthiest men on the planet and a collecter of rare artifacts. In fact most museums in the US belonged to him.
Responding to a break in at a museum the five sword owners gathered. Inside they found Mr. Borne holding an amulet. "Ah so the five weapons have finally gathered. Good I was afraid some of you might not show. Well the Swat team should be coming in about now. I even heard someone pulled so strings and got the military involved. Now who could have done that?" he said with a smirk as the amulet began to crack. "Have a good meal, I'll be watching" The artifact was crushed in his hand as both he and the item vanished.
Somehow each of them knew they were surrounded. All these law enforcement people simply responding to what they thought were crazed killers. They called out for them to surrender as they got into position for an assult.
All five heard basically the same thing. "You know you cant surrender. They will seperate us, I will fall into anothers hands while you are in jail. They must die so we may defeat our true enemy. Now use me, drain their strength and escape. KILL!"

Lafayelle turned towards the sounds of the law enforcement officials. Even in the centuries since her last battle, her body didn't forget anything. Not her stance or the basic moves...not even the way she felt when she killed Kaitlynn with the sword she clutched tightly in her right hand.
She had wanted to start on criminals and such to get a feel for her own new and twisted life, but apparently the creator had other plans for them. They were snakes trapped in a pit and the creator had all too easily summoned their first meals.
"I'm physically and mentally commited to this," she said mostly to herself. "Now to see if I just have the guts."
Kaitlynn's Tear, the sword that had drained Stephanoth, Kaitlynn, and three other adventurers of their lifeblood, hummed in anticipation, awaiting the moment of first blood.

Dade stood there his blood boiling, Again that barstard had traped him, Again he was the pupeteer pulling the strings, He wanted deat then he'd get death, More than the creator wanted,
Turning to the assembled police he pulled his sword striking as he did so, The first two police didnt know what hit them, Their kevlar vests doing nothing against the sharpened edge.
Shock and disbelieve appeared on the other officers faces the horror of what just happened regestering on their faces.

If anything spurred Lafayelle to action, it was the gas grenade that jumped into the room with them. Acting quickly, Lafayelle set herself and kicked it back out into the crowd of police assembled.
"Masks!" came a yell from where the grenade had rolled to a halt against a wall.
If they broke through and escaped, at least the swords would stay in the hands that should be wielding them. If they died, there was no telling what kind of people would come in possession of them. Their opponents were people just doing their jobs, trying to restore order and working for the good guys. On the other hand, the creator had carried out his trap expertly, leaving them little choice but to slay the ignorant.
With a final thought that she should use the sword so the lives taken today wouldn't be completely in vain, Lafayelle rushed forward and smoothly impaled a SWAT member. The blood didn't get a chance to splatter on the far wall as Kaitlynn's Tear greedily drank it all like a black hole swallowing the light of hope. Putting her foot against the man's torso, Lafayelle pulled the sword up, splitting the man's chest and face in two. Once again, Lafayelle observed with both horror and fascination how the sword quickly consumed the blood before it even left the body.
"Shi-" came the gasp from a nearby SWAT, but was all too quickly silenced by decapitation. Kaitlynn's Tear started to glow with demonic red light and hummed as Lafayelle recovered from the strike, then backed behind a wall as gunfire answered the call of violence.

Siung looked at the woman fighting with mild surprise. She fights with fury, a great deal of it. Surely she loves her sword greatly to be so violent to protect it. "Indeed, she loves her sword, but you see that she does not fight with your grace and beauty. Let us show these murderous fools who would part us just what a true bond can do." Riunga whispered in his ear.
Drawing his sword, Siung was hit with the familiar pang he got every time he looked at her. She had been a beautiful sword before that damned wizard stole those centuries from them both. Charging forward, Siung dove at the last moment, swinging Riunga up into the man's hip, severing his leg. Jumping up, he drove the sword into the SWAT unit's back before he had a chance to even register that his leg was missing.
Ripping Riunga out of the man's back, Siung laughed maniacally as a thick, pinkish liquid slid out of the man's upper spine and into Riunga. Siung glanced around the room to find where they were thickest. The SWAT seemed to be keying on the woman with the red sword, but they'd stretched themselves across the room. Without a thick spot to key on, Siung simply did the only thing that seemed wise.
He quickly scavenged a knife off the felled SWAT unit. Flipping it into a reverse grip in his off hand, Siung whipped into a dervish's whirl, the knife doing little more than intimidate Siung's cowering target, Riunga singing to Siung as she anticipated the kill. A mere inch from a kill shot, Siung stopped suddenly, Riunga shrieking her anger at him for not taking the kill.
Stabbing the knife up into the man's sternum, Siung whipped Riunga in, slicing the man's head clean off, a thin trail of that same substance slipping out of the man's head, streaking toward Riunga. Ripping the knife out of the man's chest, Siung spun around and lost his grip on the knife when it pounded into a SWAT unit's side. Startled, Siung jumped back as the man fell. Wow... Did you know he was there? he asked Riunga. "Actually, not a clue he even existed."

Kryn watched as three of the five in the group rushed in and started swinging their swords into the mass of SWAT members. For a moment he was too distracted to do anything, his mind settled on the fact that, once again, that smug bastard had thrown him into some spot just to be thought dead. And, really getting pissed off while being told to kill wasn't a good thing with him.
With an almost sinister smile on his face, Kryn pulled the claymore on his back, Animus, free and quickly went into a sprint. When he finally reached the SWAT men, Kryn swept Animus vertically, taking the arm off one of the men with ease. Before he could even scream, his head was flying off in another direction. Using the momentum from his second swing, Kryn spun and made a diagonal swing, cutting another man in two from the shoulder to the waist. Not a pretty sight.
After that, the SWAT men began to scatter from Kryn, probably from the others, too, he wasn't watching them. All he knew was that he would just have to be careful of gunfire now. Things would get messy if he got too carried away...
...and he was thinking all this after cleaving into man's head. Yanking Animus free, Kryn used the fresh corpse as a shield as a small wave of gunfire came in. He'd been right after all. These SWAT guys had been trained, after all.
After the guns silenced, Kryn yanked the handgun on his hip free, turned around, and shot three of his enemies. Not killer shots, but still enough to make them recoil. Shoving the handgun back into its holster, Kryn went back to killing close range.

Automatic submachine gun clatter halted as Lafayelle found her opening. The gas made her eyes watery but there wasn't a whole lot to see.
"What the hell are they?!"
"They're not human!"
After cutting down one more guy in a total of six kills so far, Lafayelle took a small moment to realize that was quite true. She felt...violated, yet empowered by the rush of adrenaline. Killing didn't seem to affect her as much as she thought and she knew why. Kaitlynn's Tear was hard at work desensitizing her to the horror of the sins she was commiting. More of the creator's genius.
If Lafayelle could take a break between group killings, she could probably reclaim her full sanity and grasp of the situation. But the creator had ensured that they wouldn't get any kind of break. She spared a glance at her sheathed bastard sword. It was possible to calm the sword down if she just used her regular sword to fight with, but then the lives she'd be taking would truely have been a waste. "Damn you," Lafayelle cursed the creator and readied for the next victims to tread too closely.

Just as he planned the wielders were slaughtering the law enforcement agents inside as he watched on secretly. Outside half heard messages of demons and death already had those that remained in terror. And as he planned the military soon got into position. As the warriors would exit the building they would find themselves surrounded by tanks, helicopters, and heavily armed soldiers.
((feel free to leave the building when you like. After you are through their lines you can decide what to do next. I will set up the next scenario depending on what you decide. Though you should probably stay together))

Lafayelle spared the time to gaze out one of the windows. Tanks, helicopters, spotlights, and police holding back the gathering throngs of civilians and press crews. "...Alternate route?" With the SWAT scattered and disoriented, Lafayelle had time to look at her handiwork. Or rather, the handiwork of Kaitlynn's Tear. It was a very hungry sword, no doubt. The victims of the blood drain had been mummified on the spot as the sword drank greedily. It hurt her inside but the adrenaline and the sword's grip on her wouldn't let her shed tears yet. One of the stun baton wielding museum security guards has huddled in a corner, convulsing with a wet stain growing on the front of his pants. Lafayelle ignored him for the time being and looked around. "Gotta be a safer exit. Maybe underground?"

OOC: I messed that up, I had it written on wordpad like this, I'd meant to fix some of the stuff in it. Sorry, folks
Siung laughed at the prospect of escaping through the sewers, but he knew no better escape. Jumping into the air, Siung began leaping off people's heads as Riunga shrieked her rage at his fleeing combat, gaining height, eventually landing on the indoor balcony. Looking for a quick exit, Siung barrelled through a window and out over the street below, Riunga singing as she whistled through the air, thrown full strength straight down into an unknowing soldier's head just moments before he crashed through the museum doors.
Landing spread eagle on another soldier, Siung ripped Riunga out of the first soldier's head, pointed it at a soldier just outside his reach. Jumping to his feet, Siung whipped the blade out at the soldier, severing his torso from his legs, clearing a path for Siung to escape to the doors. Barrelling through the door, Siung found himself back in the lobby of the building.
"It's Hell out there. We're not going to get out the front door, but we've gotta get out fast." Siung said as his sword once again began shrieking in his ear to kill the soldiers outside. "DAMMIT, WE CAN'T KILL THEM! THEY'VE GOT GUNS YOU STUPID METAL BI... Did I just say that outloud?" Siung asked as he grinned nervously.

OOC: Short version, The creator lured us here and set the police on us, Our sword are convincing us that the cops/army/girlguides are going after the swords so we are killing them.
IC: Blast Dade thought looking out the window, They were surounded by too many troops, There had to be a better way out of this place, Looking through the rooms dade found smthing that might work.
Cutting the machine down he began draging it towards the roof, Looking at the rest he yelled "We sould meet up somewhere, Central park sounds good to me, I'll wait there for two hours for you all" With that he continued to pull the contraption up the stairs.
-------------------------------------------------------
Minutes later Dade was on the roof, The copters were busy with the perimiter and not the roof thank god, Setting the machine up Dade got into position, This may not have been what Di vinci had made the flying machine for but hopefuly it would do the job.
Pushing off the machine, Dade straped too it fell off the roof, Only to seconds later lift into the darkness, He hoped the military hadn't seen his exit this might get him away but manuvering it was definately not on the cards.

"I...hope he makes it okay."
Lafayelle looked around, searching for a similar way to escape.
"The creator wouldn't want us dying here if he expects us to be his personal five horsemen of the apocalypse. He had to have hidden something for us somewhere."
An idea popped in her head. "I'll try the curator's office. Maybe there's some kind of secret passage into some tunnels below. Farfetched, but it doesn't sound so ridiculous at a time like this."
There was a map of the building on the nearby wall for visitors. Lafayelle found the room she was looking for easily enough and got moving.
Inside the office, Lafayelle looked around. Beautiful statues, big paintings, particularly the one behind the desk...
Lafayelle smirked and moved behind the desk and tried to remove the painting. It wouldn't budge.
"Shit. What'm I missing?"
A button. Or maybe a switch. Lafayelle turned to look at the desk and kneeled to see underneath it. There was a tiny switch. Lafayelle grinned and flicked at it. Behind her, a noise. She jumped up and spinned to see the painting sliding on rails she couldn't see, moving to the side to reveal a way. The smell that emanated from hole beyond the painting made Lafayelle crinkle her nose. Obviously, it wasn't cleaned often enough, if at all. "I wonder if every way out of a bad situation smells like this?"
Lafayelle mounted the ladder and descended. The bottom and tunnel leading out were lit by a series of hanging lights. It was warm and moist, but she was already getting used to the smell, and this definitely looked like it'd lead her to safety. "I'd better go and tell the others. Hopefully we can be through and out before the military decides we're missing and comes inside."

As Lafayelle returned, Siung found himself once again chuckling at the concept of running. "We've got these swords. We can't lose. Those fools outside won't even get through the door if even one of us fights like he's got a pair between his legs and a brain rattling around in his skull. How about this: You three escape through the tunnel, I'll close the tunnel and destroy the switch. Then, I'll hold them off for ten minutes. Ransack the office, makes it look more like you tried to take something and got pissed, then decided to stab the curator's desk."

"Don't try and be heroic. These guys are trained, they'll rush in when they figure out it's just you. Or maybe they'll throw a grenade, who knows. Whatever the case, we have to get out of here now. No distractions, no covering our escape. We just disappear before they can figure it out."
With that, Kryn put Animus on his back. Whatever Siung was thinking, he obviously wasn't thinking of the consequences. He probably knew more about his own sword, but that could have been messing with his head.
"But do what you want. I'm ready to get out of here before they show up with bigger guns."
And, with that, Kryn was moving to the curators office. He had his hand near his gun, in case any of the military or police actually did start a second wave.

After informing the others, Lafayelle went to go actually secure the exit. The tunnel was long, but that could only mean it lead to safety.
...Right?
Well, sorta. The seal was weighed down by something, and judging from the noise, Lafayelle knew exactly what was keeping it sealed. "Better than the front door."
The exit opened to...civilians. They were looking away from her, towards the museum. One saw her. That one poked another one and pointed at her. That other one screamed.
And this got everyone else's attention. Not the attention of the police and SWAT and military. Not yet, anyways. But they'd find out soon.
And then a woman in a red blazer and her cameraman approached them.
Lafayelle didn't hesitate. The recorder fell from the cameraman's hand, sliced cleanly in two. "Shit!" came the reply from the cameraman as he fell on his ass.
Lafayelle couldn't have put it better herself. She kneeled down before the hole in the pavement, calling down to the others. "Better hurry. We've got a head start but it's in a few seconds."
Someone rushed Lafayelle with a small steel pipe. Lafayelle removed his weapon arm and head. No blood touched the street. The guy was completely dried before his body hit the ground. "Ah...maybe less. Hurry!"

Kryn was, unfortunately, the last person to get out onto the surface. When he got out, he saw Siung starting to slaughter innocent people, not even caring if they were men, women or children. What the hell was wrong with this guy?
Quickly pulling Animus off of his back, Kryn charged in front of Siung, blocking a swing that would have killed some more people that could just run home safely.
"What the fuck is wrong with you?! We wanted to get away, not kill innocents! Get a hold of yourself!" Kryn may have been a killer-for-hire, but he was still a knight, deep down. And, this, of course, was worse than killing cops. Kryn wouldn't stand for that. "Keep your sword in its fucking sheath!"

Lafayelle was behind Kryn, a concerned expression on her face as the civilians scattered. "He's right. When the creator lays out a full course meal for our swords, you don't simply just pig out. You're doing his pathetic bidding just as he likes it, and you will become his all-too-willing pawn in his crusade against humanity. Is that what you want? To be some faceless horror that ruthlessly slaughters humans by the billions only to be thrown away and forgotten by both your sword and the one who forged it?"
Suddenly, Lafayelle moved around Kryn and Siung and slashed at a doberman that nearly pounced on Siung. Kaitlynn's Tear drained the dog just as easily as any human. The police and riot squad were disorganized due to the chaos caused by the terrified civilians and Siung's assault. SWAT and the military were having trouble getting themselves together, but things wouldn't stay that way long. There was already a spotlight on the three of them. Lafayelle was sure reinforcements would be dropped near them to apprehend the violent criminals with the cool looking swords. "Let's get out of here, okay? The creator's not here and we'll only be able to lose them easily if we leave now."

Far off the Creator watched it all unfold. He sat within a large office, monitors that were a mix of magic and technology showed him all he wished to see. His hand holding a glass, he smiled as he swirled the liquid. "Amazing how some resist my weapons, but none can avoid killing. Slowly they will lose themselves and do as they were destined to do." For a moment he paused, contimplating his next move. With a snap of his fingers two glowing eyes appeared within the darkness behind him.
The creatures arms and legs were sharp and pointed. Its mouth had razor sharp teeth, yet was small like the bite of a piranah. Clearly this was a beast designed for piercing and shredding. "My pet, the wielders will be meeting up soon. See to it they are properly greeted." With that it leeped out a large window to find its prey.

A figure hid in the shadows. Their time will come if they want the swords. He avoided the conflict though. He was no ruthless killer, he was someone looking for a challenge. He walked toward the door. A cop moved out of his way to stop him.
"Move! I don't have time for a flea like you!"
With a swat of his hugely muscular fist, he smashed the cop breaking alot of bones and rendering him unconcious. The figure walked away... and he seemed to have halted. Now the sword was in his hand, and it had blood on it. The cop was dead from a stab wound. He didn't even remember doing it.
"Darn"
The figure kept walking. He chose to remain silent, not even talking to the others. They each would have made an awesome opponent, but he needed training to take on the other four sword wielders. He stood at the doorway, looking at the rows of tanks and other military weapons.
"A Challenge? This should be interesting!"
A few of the SWAT team approached. The figure, using his now drawn sword, cut through them easliy. He was too strong to be stopped by simple armour. Then came the tanks though, and this was the problem... and he had no reinforcements of the other sword wielders. Again, he was outmatched.
"Darn. Better stick with the group."
The strong figure fled back into the building. He followed the others, and found civilians. There were a few of the SWAT team that followed, but he weaved around them and killed them along the way. He was then barred from moving by the civilians.
"Out of my way!"
Using his sheer strength Daren Charoda shoved until he got a path. He moved over to Lafayelle and Kryn.
"Either of you know where we are going next?"

Siung heard the woman's words, seemingly reticent and regretful, while he actually conversing with Riunga, laughing at what he considered the words of a fool. Realizing, though, that even with Riunga he wouldn't be able to escape without backup, Siung jumped into the nearest wall, drove Riunga deep into the wall and began climbing, stabbing her into the wall as he climbed.

Lafayelle watched Siung go, then remembered something. "Dade said Central Park. I think we can lose all the important eyes on us if we split up and take different routes there. He said he'll wait for two hours and the park ain't far so we have some time."
She backed off and scanned the area around her quickly, picking up a handgun that someone must've dropped. Quickly, she aimed it up at the chopper shining the spotlight on her. Her gunplay sucked, but the clip had enough ammunition to help her take out the light. The gunfire sent the crowd into an even bigger panic, if that was possible. "Good luck," Lafayelle breathed, then fled, discarding the handgun into the tunnel she had entered the street from and swerving into an alleyway.
She wanted to hide her sword, but she would need to draw it quickly in case of trouble, so she was shit out of luck. Besides, she was still displaying her other normal sword in its sheath on her belt. The alleyways were going to be her only sanctuary from pursuers. "Okay, let me get oriented...we came out there...and that street was...so Central Park should be...over there, kinda."
It would take Lafayelle about ten or so minutes if there wasn't any trouble. She got moving.

Handsclutched at Dade, He had been thrown from the machine after it hit the tree and had layed unconsious for a few minutes, The hands came again and Dade reacted without thinking the sword in his hand and arcing down at his tormenter.
The childs eyes looked at Dade in disbelief, The light slowly faded along with her life, A whisper fell from her lips the last words of her short life "Are you o....kay", Tears welled in Dades eyes, Killing those who stood in his way or attacked him was nothing for him, This however was different, This life snuffed by his hand hadn't been malous at all, It had infact been a young life one of kindness and he stopped that life.
In the darkness noone would see the crime he had commited, Dade stayed there cradaling the small child in his arme tears ran down his face.

Lafayelle was tired from running, and took a spot to rest and let the adrenaline leak out of her system.
"Damn...I must've taken a wrong turn somewhere."
"Not really."
Lafayelle whirled around immediately, both swords flashing out. Even after centuries of sleep, she would never forget that voice. She had even gone far enough as to name the sword after seeing a solitary tear on the woman's cheek as the blade drank her dry. Kaitlynn, a lance wielding adventurer that Lafayelle didn't know very well, but would trust with her life if it came to that. Kaitlynn, the first to take up the sword and then suddenly murder the other four people in the party, including Lafayelle's lover Stephanoth. Kaitlynn, who nearly slew Lafayelle as well but ended up being the one slain by the sword instead.
This same Kaitlynn stood barely ten feet away, as though nameless gods conspired to deliver her from oblivion to see an old friend after centuries of separation.
"Kaitlynn."
"I'm glad that you haven't forgotten about me."
Lafayelle sheathed her bastard sword, but left the blood sword out. "How could I forget you? I have to say that it was most likely because of you that I'm in this situation."
"Could be, but it's all for the better, dear Lafayelle."
"What do you mean?"
Kaitlynn gestured as though she was indicating their surroundings. "Look around you. It's as if everything was placed here specifically to your advantage. You know what the creator wants. I know, too. I heard his voice when I first touched the sword."
"Yes, but I didn't simply let myself fall prey to his manipulations, Kaitlynn. I went out there in the old world and found all the answers, though I didn't like what I heard."
"And that brings you here. But let me tell you. The world of centuries ago was beautiful. Pristine. Uncorrupted. To me, and definitely to you, this was a world worth saving. Now look at it. The world is poised to burn and you are one of the people with the torches to do exactly that. Have you ever though for an instant what the real destiny of the sword might be? Who's to say that this was the first world the sword destroyed?"
Lafayelle looked at the sword. The blade and gems decorating the hilt pulsed with dim crimson light. "No."
Kaitlynn nodded slowly. "You have the ability, but your heart is lacking. Fortunately, I think I can help you apply some effort."
Lafayelle assumed her battle stance. "Don't you do anything to me."
"I already have. With this, you will come to understand exactly what I'm trying to tell you. And in the end, you will be more suitably equipped to deal with the creator when the time comes. Salvation or damnation, Lafayelle. The path to either forks from the same road."
Kaitlynn was gone, but Lafayelle didn't quite know how she left. She turned around to again to find that she wasn't in a dead end at all. "Is my mind playing tricks on me?"

Siung arrived at the park as Dade clutched at the small child. Walking up quietly, Siung saw that Dade had killed the child. Even though Siung was fairly murderous, he knew what it was like when you commit your first unwanted kill. Approaching behind him silently, Siung placed a hand on Dade's shoulder. "It's hard when you kill the first child. You'll never forget this moment. You won't let yourself. Soon, though, you'll be able to tell when it's actually necessary to kill, and when it's the sword telling you to. Now let's get rid of the body."
