I give you greetings... I, Massacre, have been away from this place for a long time, largely because I prefer to just read 8-Bit instead of discussing it or whatnot. However, in recent times, I've been fooling around with my copy of Soul Caliber 3, and I'm happy to report that I come bearing gifts. Using the character creation section of SC3, I have reconstructed numerous characters of 8-Bit Theater for your enjoyment and as a show of my OWN enjoyment of this comic series. Also, I will not only provide the pictures, but the means to reproduce them yourselves, in case you have this game yourself. I call this "Soul-Artistry" for the obvious reason of the fact that this game can make one hella-good artist out of you. I've recreated alot of my own original characters this way. These are really good attempts. I don't know if anyone else out there has done this, but I like what I'VE done with it all! And so, without further ado...THE STUFF!

Fiend, this is okay by me. I prefer to consider myself a Stand Alone Complex. Like the Ghost in the Shell business, I was drawn to do this without being initiated by another.

Cobra, I have to say that these other ones were good too. Thanks for digging it up. I'm actually glad the concept is thought of by others, rather than staring them in the face and not being seen. Does anyone know if their method of picture grabbing was different from mine? It will be a while before I ever see another digital camera.

Greed, Thief wasn't as hard as you think. The resemblance to the other guy's work, even without having seen it before, is uncanny, and Thief isn't the only one... As for BB, it was inspired by that guest comic where he came back as an undead and exploded because of BM's debunking. Of course, that's possible NOW, isn't it?

I'm tempted, believe me. The only problem is, well, the hassle. Let me break it down into what I'd have to do NOW in order to do this thing.


{1} Using either memory, pictures, or overall cleverness, I would have to go through the process of generating said character to a level of authenticity that I can accept. This is, in fact, the fun part. I like doing this bit. It's why I did other things like Major Motoko Kusinagi, Dominic Deegan, MD Geist, Bob from Reboot (in his thief form), etc. The rest...

{2} Okay, after making it and saving it, my next move is to get a camera and take a picture, preferrably with no light but the screen and no flash because the screen is enough and everything interferes. If it's a digital camera, then all is good and I can copy the data easily. IF IT'S NOT... It means I had to borrow a normal camera from someone and pay for my film...or maybe borrow THAT if I'm lucky enough. But still...

{3} With the film having been used, I have to go get it developed, which means PAYING. I hate paying for things like this. If I have to pay to develop these, it's no fun. Know why? Because next...

{4} The pictures must then be taken to a scanner - which I DO have, thankfully - and scanned for the one time only that I'll need these damn things, and then the originals are worthless and a waste. Once they are graphical data, who needs hardcopies for something I do for fun? Even after that...

{5} I'll have to muck about with the picture some, because scanners are always doing SOMETHING to the pic that requires an adjustment before I even upload it onto mein Photobucket.


That's the pain in the ass that I'd have to go through, and money is involved. If there's an easier way - and I don't have PS2 internet stuff, so don't ask - TELL ME ABOUT IT.

Now, here's where I can lend a little bit of a hand. Worry not for character slots, Flare. If you're anything like me, you have alot of favorites, don't you? Well, what I do in circumstances in having so many decent characters and not enough friggin' slots is just running up a nice big list of stats on a text document. Write up a sheet from the game, copy and paste a few DOZEN times, and fill in the blanks. YOur favorite characters are but a keystroke away. The only place their continued existence matters is in Chronicles Mode anyhow.


Oh, and by the by... I CHANGED MY MIND. Mass The Stampede is STAYING.

No, I've gotten all 10 filled, 5 of which are my characters, and the other five are friend's characters. I mean, I play multiplayer a lot, so it's not like I can just up and delete them. The five I got all serve diffrent perpices.....not to mention I've spent a lot of time tweaking them to how I like it. Plus I'm still altering them.


Besides, I love 8-bit, and I love beating the crap out of Black Mage, but it seems so more thrilling to do it in sprite form.
