Comic-Con: Tarantino Wants Kill Bill Anime Prequels (2006-07-23 01:25:36)
Quentin Tarantino says (http://comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=15618) he wants to make two anime Kill Bill prequels: an origin film about Bill and his mentors, and an original tale with The Bride.

Yes! This will be brilliant, if they can get the right people for the job. The animation in the Kill Bill movies was awesome, so this should be just as good if not better. :) What do you think?

I wasn't actually all that thrilled with the animation bits in KB.

Buuuut this is still pretty cool, all the same.

Part of the appeal of that movie was it had this really involved backstory, that was only really hinted at in the movie proper.

It'd be cool to see some of that brought to the fore.

I still need to see KB: Vol 2, but I am looking forward to this, especially if the result of this project gets Quentin having a real interest in anime... if he doesn't already. :sweatdrop

Tarantino has said many times that he is deeply influenced by asian films and stuff like that, which shows in movies like Pulp Fiction and Kill Bill.

Kill Bill 1 was one big tribute to asian movies...
But I'm very interested in these anime, damn right I am.

Oh, and the animation didn't really suit the first movie, but that's more how it was drawn, I liked the fact that there was some anime in it.

Despite what seems to be the general consensus, I really liked the anime in Kill Bill so If these were by the same person/persons that'd be awesome. Regardless of who does them though, I'm excited about these, I would also like to see some of the backstory hinted at in the movies fleshed out.

Well, when I heard him at comicCon last weekend, he hasn't said much about it. He's been busy making a new movie. If interested, look up "Grindhouse" on Google or something. It'll be a double-feature movie (2 movies, each about an hour long)
