Now I want to compile a song clip using scenes from vidoe files that I have. Can you please recommend to me a good program for this (that I don't have to pay for) and explain the complexities (if necessary, of course).

Thanks in advance.

:/ I do video editing all the time, but unfortunately I've paid heavily for all my programs, so I can't help you there.

However, I can tell you that if you are mixing video files of different image size, bitrate, or compression, most programs will usually make your project perameters the same as the file with the highest resolution or bitrate. Which means--size-wise--all the smaller files will either have dead space around them or be blown up to fit. And bitrate-wise, you'll probably notice the occasional odd movement of pixel noise. If all your video files are coming from the same source and are identicaly compressed, then you shouldn't have anything to worry about.

Yeah, It's rare to come across even a crap video editor for free, let alone a useable one.
Final Cut Pro for macs is the one I use for my video projects. Avid is another good one, both of which are extremly expencive. Sorry there.

Its spelled expensive.

I found a good freeware video editor a few years back, but I lost it when formatting my computer. I believe it was called NCB or Videoclone or something.

Windows Movie Maker is free and it gets the job done in a pinch if you need it to. Sure, there's no fancy features, but it works alright. Same with iMovie for Macs.
