These guys are the detectives of the city guard. You can tell because of how smart they are.
If it was Lenny Briscoe there would have been a sweet joke.

Man, right up until the end...
Then *BAM* BM pulls off a lie successfully.
I guess without the the Lame Warriors around to hold him back, his true power is now unleashed! Bring on the screaming infants needing shoes!

They seem a bit smarter than the guards from past towns, perhaps it's like all RPGs, the farther you go the tougher your enemies get.

Worth a chuckle, but Brian's done better.

In the Cornerian justice system, King Steve is represented by two separate yet equally important groups*: The guards who investigate crime, and the executioners who execute the suspects. These are their stories.
Der- derrnah-nerner- NAH-NAH -NAH
* He personally likes the executioners more.

You would think that Ms. Elderly Woman would have removed the face shoes if they were so horrible don't you think?

But they were comfortable shoes.
Nothing says support like a nice piece of cheek skin for that stretchiness you need with the strength you deserve.

Am I the only one who registered that, it being a new morning, BM has a hadoken waiting in the wings?
It would come in handy destroying all the evidence. Once Black Mage finishes...whatever the hell it is he's doing.

Hehe, BM is actually trying to run the buisness. It's cute and amazing at the same time.
And heck, wadayaknow? The guards weren't completely moronic, for once.

Well what exactly is he going to use it on if he wants the business to at least stay in one piece?

He can deal with any other old ladies, and get more skin for his shoes. I must admit though, this technically makes him the most successful light warrior world wise, as when you get down to it, the others are merely jobless bums who scavenge the world and don't do a day's work ever.
BM, he's working a *cough* honest *cough* living, while thief has an inheritance and shady acquirements to support himself, while RM and Fighter live off of what measly bits of money they get from their murders of money carrying travellers, kung fu men, and harmless yet vicious looking native animals.
Assuming of course, Thief lets them have that money, because there is a chance he feeds and clothes them for the sole purpose of them living to help him. So he would own their very lifes then...
But I digress. BM has gotten a job, and is already more well set in the world than most people.
Myself included.

The others have jobs, prestige jobs that fall within the vocations of both Adventurer and Light Warrior. If they were jobless bums then their names would have changed to Paladin, Ninja, Mimic and Blue Mage, but they didn't, it's just their jobs, which Bahamut himself gave them so they would bugger off, letting him screw his girlfriend in peace... I mean save the world. :shifty:
Did Thief actually take posession of their souls yet? I'm guessing Darko couldn't have worked his mojo on BM if he did, but Thief owns everything else, with the exception of RM's hat.

I'm sensing that BM is going to screw this up somehow possibly by being driven to Hadokening his shop. At which point he will either be thrown halfway across the world by the force and land at the town where the others are or he will flee and circumstances will somehow ensure that he arrives there. IE he hides on a boat which goes there. This will involve him swearing loudly and profoundly upon discovering he cannot escape his "destiny"

The old lady may not have wanted to even touch those shoes, which I assume were made out of the late Mr. Cobblepot ...

Something bad will happen to BM anyways. EVERYTHING happens to hurt Black Mage.

All I know is that Black Mage better start considering Thief's return. We don't want Thief to come back and steal all his hard earned cobble cash, do we?
He needs a plan of defense!

He needs to blast Thief into oblivion the instant he sees him, if he wants any chance to keep money in his own pocket.

Isn't blasting stuff to oblivion the default solution for all problems BM finds?

Wow BM has really changed, before he would have just asked the guards to come to the back where he would have murdered them.

I hate the government.
You know, that is a point. Black Mage is often one to murder right after interrogation or during interrogation.

You seem to forget Mr. Cobblepot and the face-shoes,mister.
Besides, BM always lied as a first resort to get out of situations that could incur him bodily harm.

This reminds me of another incident that Involved BM and two guards (http://www.nuklearpower.com/daily.php?date=010825) I wonder if there the same guards?... no wait they can't be.

No, it's not, as the title of this strip is Benny and Liscoe, and one of those two guards was clearly referred to as Lenny.
