View Full Version : On the subject of RM and Thief...

Who else here thinks that those two totally go together? I mean, seriously, they're like the best couple in the entire series.

...Or that's just me being crazy. But, seriously, they're both pretty gay. Regardless of whether or not the whole 'cross-dressing, Daddy issues' thing is or is not a giant mindf*ck created solely for Thief's amusement, RM is still totally gay. And Thief...He's an elf. Also, he's way too good for mere women.

So, yeah. They belong together.

The above is BHS logic. *That's not my high-school, it's my name, dammit!* I'm the dumbest smart person ever!

Kurosen

Uh, no. For one, cross-dressers are not necessarily gay (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eddie_Izzard).

For another, why would Thief ever consort with a filthy, stinking non-Elf? He probably has more respect for apes and dogs than humans, because at least the animals don't pretend to have a decent civilization.

I know about the cross-dressing.

As for why Thief would consort with a filthy, stinking non-Elf...Er...Look, a seagull!

It makes slightly more sense to me than, say, Douglas Adams on crack. That's really the only reason. Also, hours upon hours of staying up until four in the morning while reading your comic has (have?) utterly destroyed what was left of my brain. I am now little more than a drooling moron obsessed with utterly destroying any pairings that make any sort of sense.

Besides, Elves are far too happy to make hot, hot love with their beloved trees, laugh at all other races, and screw us all over financially to ever get into a meaningful relationship.

At least with anything other than Trees and Money. So if there was money that grew on a tree, Thief would be on it like blood on BM's knife.

And RM would only fall in love if it would give him a stat bonus, versatility, or further feed his delusions of grandeur.

Waffle Ninja
06-15-2006, 04:58 PM
I didn't necessarily say anything about love. And wouldn't it increase your delusions of grandeur if you could pretend that the prince of the elves didn't hate and despise you quite as much as he did the rest of your race?

Heh. If you don't agree with me, say so. Just, please, don't get into a long argument about it, 'kay? That's not what I want. I just want to, y'know, see if anyone out there happens to agree with me on this. (Just so everyone knows. No fighting. I refuse to get into a fight about a pairing that I happen to like just because some other people don't like it.)

Well, since Brian (AKA Kurosen) said so, it'll never happen.

*ahem* I don't expect it to ever happen. Hell, if it were to happen in the comic, I'd be sorely, sorely dissapointed.

Nonetheless, they're the only non-canon pairing I've ever approved of.
They make me squeal.

Wasn't there a huge fan-art trend over in the Arts & Crafts section a little while back based on this pairing? :/

thank god that's over....what a waste of talentAgreed. Some were funny, but it got old.

When I first saw this thread, I figured it was about RM and Thief being a lot more friendly to each other lately. Like, a real discussion this time instead of a whole bunch of weird evidence that barely made sense. :shifty:

Has anyone else noticed RM and Thief being more buddy-buddy lately? Is it just me?

PyrosNine
06-15-2006, 11:15 PM
They're about as buddy buddy as BM and Thief. Actually, aside from their quirks screwing each other over, RM BM and Thief are actually on pretty good terms, otherwise why would they have traveled together for so long? Something clicks, and that something is EVIL.

There is also the possibility that RM is half-elf or something. Alot of rpgs nowadays with a prominent Sword-Mage character usually have a plot revelation where we learn he's half elf, took elf-ing shots, or ingested an elf.

Someone playing SPOILERS Tales of Symphonia Pyros?

Thief wouldn't dirty himself with non elfy, let's say substances and leave it at that. Though the idea of him being a half-elf is interesting, and may explain why he cares about his kingdom when the other elves don't, cause he has to prove his elfiness.

Besides we all know RM has more exotic (http://www.nuklearpower.com/daily.php?date=041221) perversions (http://www.nuklearpower.com/daily.php?date=060321) anyway.

On the buddy-buddy thing, BM is evil for the sake of it, Fighter is an innocent.
RM and Thief are both amoral, they go together.

You have a point. ^^ See, I'm a crazy yaoi fangirl. Thus, I make up pairings that make no sense. Also, RM's hair in a guest comic made me think of the pairing. ^^

Y'know what's ironic? Er, to the guy who has the founder of the Thief/RM cult thing in his siggy...I looked at that earlier and wondered if it meant what I thought it did.

To all the people talking about how it'll never happen:

Not in the comic, no. Although that would be an utterly hilarious twist. But, no. I don't expect it to. However, I like thinking about it. The pairing makes me giggle. That's the whole 'fanfic' aspect of it. ^^

And to everyone who will come up with evidence showing why I'm just a crazy jackass who should be locked up: Look! A seagull!

To everyone who demands to know how any of my evidence makes sense: A wizard did it!

And for those who just kinda wonder where I get my evidence from, consider the following:

BM likes WM.
Fighter likes sword girls.

Has Thief ever shown any interest in women?

Has RM? *Well, except for their clothes. But that's all Thief's fault.*

Since, so far, they haven't, I submit that they are gay. For each other. ...Yes. This makes sense in my head. It makes even more sense now than it did two days ago, partially because now it's two in the morning and DEAR GOD AM I TIRED. But I am not talking about that. I'm talking about how RM and Thief make an adorable couple. Heh.

Of course, there's no love involved. Well, RM seems kinda like a closet romantic (among other things. Will I never stop?) to me. But Thief...? Nah. He's just in it for the sex. Duh. And to have more stuff to blackmail RM with. But, yeah. I can see RM totally falling for Thief, or at least (and, actually, this is much more likely) becoming really possessive and jealous. ...How many 's's does 'possessive' have?

Anyway, yeah.

And, on the subject of that fanart...Does anyone have links?:sweatdrop PG-13 at the most, my parents check the history. Eh-heh.

Edit: Mr. Burkion, I love you. May I join your cult? I'll write bad fanfics for you!

Burkion

Burkion, as a member of your cult, I need to say something. I must say it now.

Satan weeps for the abomination you have created.

There, I said it. Then again, I suppose it was expected that such a thing would have arisen once more, seeing how it surrounds the idea of Thief being an elf and Red Mage being a cross-dresser -- and not only that, but they being something of a pair of close friends, if not sometimes in a violently disturbing way.
And the only reason I joined the cult because you gave me a cookie. Yaoi and yuri isn't my thing. I can handle it, but it isn't my thing.

Dj_StarChild

I didn't get the impression that Rm was aware of his crossdressing, moreso that he thought he WAS deborah....probably not.

Waffle Ninja
06-16-2006, 01:28 PM
Well, in comic 691 the last five panels and RM's conversation with Thief in those last three suggests that he is, in fact, aware of his cross-dressing.

Although, of course, I never consider things like that. So you could very well be right. Perhaps Red Mage has multiple personalities, one of which is a transgender named Deborah who's trapped in his body. She knows that she must cross-dress in order to express her true gender with fashion, but to her, it's not really cross-dressing.

OR I'm a complete moron and neet to stop pretending I know what I'm talking about.

About what someone said about Thief and RM being the only ones not interested in girls.... The fact that Fighter made a slight referance at some point doesn't mean it will stick for eternity. BM is the only person who has shown any real interest in a girl, we don't assume that everyone else is homosexual. Just because Thief and RM hang a lot together lately doesn't mean they are gay. They just get along together. They are not the type that seeks love or sex. Only BM has shown signs of that. Fighter is too naive for anything. The only things Theif cares about are money, his homeland and his father, and the only things RM cares about are stats. BM only cares about power andgetting laid with WM. The fact that Theif and RM don't care about sex means a lot. If there were comments from them about it and they didn't get a girl in the comic, then yes. But they don't need sex, cause they don't care about it. That doesn't define them as homosexuals.

Fifthfiend

YF-23, your comments make sense. However, I do not. I am a fangirl. Logic has no place here. Well, except for BHS-logic, or fan-logic, or general-insane-person-logic. That belongs here. That's why I think the pairing works.

And, face it, RM/Thief is the ONLY pairing in the ENTIRE comic that could even SORT OF work.

And, yes, they're all gay. Thank you, fifthfiend.

Is Kurosen really Brian? I think Kurosen, much like oursleves, is merely a puppet of the true Brian Clevinger, laughing at all of us for our completely incorrect predictions of the story of 8-Bit Theater and (to a much lesser extent) Atomik Age and controlling our minds with humor so witty and clever, that even he struggles to comprehend it.

Some of you seem to think that if any character in this comic DOES show interest in girls, that automatically excludes them from showing interest in guys. Have we heard of a little something called 'bisexual', people?
Also, Burkion? How does one go about joining your cult, exactly?
...er. So I can make it so no one can EVER join again, of course. *thiefy whisper* After myself, that is

The only reason I use the fact that other people are interested in girls is to try and set limits for myself. If they show an interest in girls, I tell myself the following:

"No, BHS, you will NOT pair these two up! I said 'NO', dammit! Go with the REALLY gay ones first, at the very least! Is nothing sacred to you?!"

Yeah. I try to at least PRETEND that I don't enjoy destroying ALL that is good in this world. It doesn't work, though. I write fanfics. My attempts at disguising the sadistic joy I feel when I pair up a couple of people (like RM and Thief) die right there. Anyway, bisexuality just makes it that much easier for me to wield crack-pairings at everything I happen to like that involves more than one male character. I consider it a gift from the gods of fanfiction.

There are serious ethical issues here, but for now I'm just going to freak out at the fact that I have been lumped in with the people who can't spell 'like'...

My brain is soiled just from reading this thread. But seeing as it has already been soild i'd just like to interject that BM is just about a Cross-Dresser right now with his class change and all. Those clothes REALLY REALLY don't look like male clothing. The robe was already bad enough.

Oh and Thief and RM..... well as it's been said only if RM was in it for the experience or stat bonuses and only if he somehow was an elf or at least part elf because that way Thief won't be "slumming" it. and perhaps if it enables Thief to somehow write a contract meaning he owns the universe and all its contents.

And, by looking at Waffle's post, it seems she (She, am I right?) thought of it before knowing that you had ever brought it up.

Actually, no. I'm sorry, we don't need to go into this. You can feel as proud of yourself as you want. The one thing that truly bothers me is that you will never stop talking about it. I'm just finding it irritating that you manage to bring it up in most threads you post in.
